The aftermath from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Phew -- so doing that Facebook Live was quite an adventure! I didn't go back and watch it, but I know a few areas where I could do things differently. But I'm OK with that. What am I always telling people? It'll never be perfect the first time -- gosh -- it'll probably never be perfect! However, one learns from experience, and I spent the morning walking through the presentation, moving from chair to chair, standing up to hold the quilts, and prepping fabric or whatever I needed as I did the walk-through.

I had an agenda on a ...

You've got mail! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Over the years, I've shipped many quilts to the US to be photographed for a magazine, and they've been shipped back to me. Other than paying shipping costs, I've incurred no other cost. No duty, no brokerage fees, no HST.

Three of us in this area were fortunate enough to have quilts accepted to the CherryWood challenge, and those quilts are winging their way back to us. One person was notified that her quilt was coming home, but she would have to pay $150 in brokerage fees and duties to get it. Seriously?? The quilt belongs to ...

Goodies Came My Way… from Jo's Country Junction

I have been terrible about keeping up with goodies that have come my way lately. Thanksgiving fell into the mix and some things that were here got “put away” by someone other than me and now…I don’t know where they are. My sincere apologies because I straight up know that I missed sharing some things …

Community Quilts: Cresco Ladies Edition from Jo's Country Junction

OOPS.  I had a scheduling error.  I had a blog post ready for this morning but had moved it to a better time.  Then I forgot to write something for the Saturday morning time slot. I had to smile when I read all of the comments after my blog post about trying to clean my …

Silk Ribbon Embroidery from Jo's Country Junction

A sweet blog reader sent some goodies my way.  In one of the boxes were some skeins of silk ribbon for silk ribbon embroidery.  I snapped it up right away.  It’s been years and years since I touched the silk ribbon but from house to house the ribbon has moved with me.  Years ago, I […]

A Change to Mailbox Posts from Jo's Country Junction

Do you see Georgia peeking out from behind the boxes?  It’s hard.  You might have to look closely.  All of that minus the legos is mail from blog readers. Two days before she came… the table had mail on it too.  I had purposely cleaned it all off and took pictures of everything so I […]

In My Mail… from Jo's Country Junction

My mail had slowed.  I barely had enough to start a blog post and then BAM!  I have enough to write two blog posts and am feeling really behind with it all. First up, this came from Kayla.  It didn’t come via the mail but I just couldn’t resist showing you.  I know all of […]

In My Mail… from Jo's Country Junction

Mail has come in quite heavily around here.  The first box came from Lisa.  What a treat.  Lisa had contacted me a while ago and asked if I wanted any fabric.  Of course…YES!

You might remember in the last installment of my mail post that someone had sent me a lot of Kim Diehl fabric.  That was Lisa.  Now she sent another.

It had some more Kim Diehl fabrics so I sorted those out to put with the other fabric.  I rarely make a quilt with a fabric line unless it’s purposely for a magazine.  This is going ...

In My Mail… from Jo's Country Junction

I know I just did a mail post yesterday but the mail has been coming in heavy and hard so in an effort to keep up, I’m writing another mail post now.  I find if I wait, that’s when I mix everything up.

This other day I was just about to go to do some errands when I saw this…Boxes outside my door.  I carried them in, set them aside and checked them out after I was done with errands.

Here are the boxes.  They were big.  They were from Boone, Iowa.

Here is what was in ...

Best Package EVER #2!! from Jo's Country Junction

Do you remember a bit ago I wrote a blog post about “the best package ever”?  Well fast forward a few days…package #2 came.  I don’t know for positive because the packages came anonymously, but I think the same blog reader sent them.

They were addressed the same… both have projects and leftovers that are similar.  Everything about this package reminded me of the other package.  Whoever it is that sent them, please know, that I really appreciate it so much and you’ve sparked a renewed a new excitement in me and I love it!!

Here are ...

In My Mail… from Jo's Country Junction

I’m trying to keep up with my mail and aside from the last post not publishing, I’ve been doing better than normal.

This first box came for Marie.  She has sent many boxes over the last few months.  Most are full of quilt tops.  The ladies from my church who put together quilts for Lutheran World Relief have been getting many of her tops.

I took pictures of a couple of my favorites…

This rail fence is my very favorite.  I love the colors and the red inner border.  So cute!!

Thanks Marie.  These will be so appreciated ...

From My Email… from Jo's Country Junction

I get so many emails that include fun things.  I thought I would share them with you today.

The first email came from the Mayfields.  Sue was helping a neighbor move and the neighbor didn’t have a need for these and Sue didn’t either so, they are being passed to me.  I’m thrilled.  They are so cute and I have some vintage sewing baskets that will be perfect for them.

Lynn tried her Third Hand Binding Tool and wrote:
Love it, did not know 440 inches of binding could be pressed so fast.  I am a long-time ...

In My Mail… from Jo's Country Junction

I was going through my photos and I think I left off some pictures of goodies that have come my way.  I keep thinking I’m doing better with keeping up with the mail and then…wham, I’m at loss trying to figure out what I took pictures of what I didn’t.  Here is my best attempt at getting caught up with the mail.

If I already blogged about one of these, please accept my apologies.  I decided I’d rather blog about them twice than have not blogged about them at all.  Ah…

Carolyn sent a bunch ...

Amazing Gift from Maxine from Jo's Country Junction

Before I get to today’s post I want to drop a couple of pictures and a note here.  If you are in Iowa and into quilts you might want to check out the Pella Tulip Festival.  It is happening this weekend.  It’s the town celebration that revolves around tulips.

Remember my tulip quilt that was published in American Patchwork and quilting? It was machine quilted by Carla of Longarm Quilting Inspirations and I gifted it to her once it came back from the publisher.  Well, Carla has been to the Tulip Festival in the past and enjoyed it ...

In My Mail from Jo's Country Junction

I feel really bad.  This blog post was supposed to go live a bit ago and for some reason it didn’t.  I had been having a little trouble with my internet going out.  I’ve come to the conclusion that if the internet is out when the blog post is scheduled to go live, then it doesn’t publish.  You might have noticed that last week there were two times when blog posts didn’t go live.  I caught those up but then today, I was doing some blog work and realized this one hadn’t gone live either ...

In My Mail… from Jo's Country Junction

I had a not kid day today so immediately went to the sewing room and enjoyed a day sewing. I came down to check the blog and realized my blog post didn’t go live.  Here it is late.  My apologies.

I always have to laugh over my mail.  The other day I was talking to Kalissa and she was asking what I needed to get done at my house as I was expecting company.  I told her the biggest thing I needed to do was to manage the mail that had come in.  I needed to take pictures, sort ...

In My Mail… from Jo's Country Junction

I have had quite few things come in the mail…

Marie sent the first package.  It was filled with quilt tops.  I have told you that the Lutheran World Relief groups have been ramping things up trying to provide more humanitarian aid.  Well, that prompted me to send these to my local church group that makes quilts for Lutheran World Relief.  These are so appreciated, Marie.

Speaking of Lutheran World Relief, Carolyn sent a big box of hand towels my way.

She also sent a box of baby clothes too.  All of these are for the baby care kits for ...

In My Mail… from Jo's Country Junction

I’ve had a few packages in.  I thought I would share them with you.

Carol sent this panel and fabric.  She had Eli, my grandson, in mind when she sent it.  He has glasses and is under a year old.  Kelli talked with the optometrist and he said Eli’s eyes are bad enough that they won’t correct.  He’ll always be a glasses wearer.

It was so sweet of you to think of him, Carol.  I’ll talk to Kelli and see what Eli can use.

The next box came from Louise.  She sent goodies for me ...

The Mail that Made me Cry from Jo's Country Junction

Over the last couple of months, I’ve created a snail mail friendship with a blog reader Annie.  I love getting letters from her.  She is a kind soul and a kindred spirit.

She is often writing about the antics of her goats.  I grew up with goats and just love them.  Outside of a dog, I am sure they are my favorite animal.  She is so sweet and often sends me pictures and stories about them.

Annie lives on an island in Washington state and I completely romanticize what life would be like there.

We regularly exchange notes…mine ...

In My Mail… from Jo's Country Junction

I got more things in the mail and I’m sharing them with you today.

Backing fabric came from Linda J.  I put this in a box with the community quilts in the garage.  If a finisher needs backing fabric, I will send this along with tops.  It’s wonderful to get backing fabric in.

In fact, before I got the fabric to the garage, a quilt finisher contacted me saying she needed backing fabric and some went straight to her.

So many of the finishers provide backing fabric from their own stash or use their own money to provide ...
