A Mola finish from Quilting & Learning

Funky Flower Mola

It's done! I've spent many hours embellishing the Funky Flower Mola that I started two weeks ago for the Dust Off a Quilt Book Blog Hop. I really enjoyed the embroidery and the beading.

Funky Flower Mola - finished!
After the blog hop, I added another butterfly and embroidery to the top of the piece.

Second butterfly and vines
I also added tiny pink seed beads around the funky flower.

Going to the Dogs…. from Made By Marney

One of my proudest moments in 2018 was the creation of the “Doggie In The Window” quilt. The Orange County Quilters Guild in California contacted me in 2017 about using my dog block patterns to create their next Guide Dogs Of America charity quilt. I was thrilled!

Doggie In The Window

The hard working guild members used 30 of my different dog breeds to construct this 60″x 70″ masterpiece. The quilt traveled throughout the US during 2018, and was raffled to a lucky winner in December. This is their big yearly contribution to their favorite charity, Guide Dogs of ...

A finished birthday bear mini from Quilting & Learning

Birthday season in our family is mostly in the fall. This year I decided that I didn't want to keep buying birthday cards and that I would make each person a mini quilt. In theory it's a wonderful idea (and many of you agreed with me!), however.... it's much quicker to go buy a card than make a mini! So if you decide to do the same, you might want to add some "making" time to your mimi

Here’s my friend Lana’s version, made into a wall hanging. Love it!

Lana used some lovely fabrics for her version.

The Little Red Truck from Made By Marney

What could be cuter than the Little Red Truck? Especially with a fun novelty character in the driver’s seat.

The Little Red Truck

This paper pieced block measures 8″x 8″ unfinished and is super easy. Find a cute novelty fabric in your stash to use for an interesting little driver, or leave the window blank. I love using buttons for the wheels…it makes the paper piecing so much easier!

Make a simple potholder…

Or make 2! Super easy.

A small pillow is also cute.

Holiday Buddies Paper Pieced Pattern from Made By Marney

Here’s a fun Christmas project to try. I call this table topper “Holiday Buddies“. I like this octagonal shape on my table.

This table topper is cute from every direction.

Santa starts the collection of 4 paper pieced blocks. I use a bit of blush on his nose to make him jolly.

Mrs. Claus also has a bit of blush on her cheeks. I use a stippling paint brush and some pink craft paint.

Rudolph has a bright pom pom nose.

The Caroler is one of my favorite new holiday designs. Using a striped fabric always works well for ...

A loon, a bear and a binding tutorial from Quilting & Learning

Finished loon

Finished loon quilt mini
The loon mini is quilted in-the-ditch.
I found some fabulous foundation paper pieced patterns for making woodland animals blocks. Here's how it started.

My October DrEAMi! (something that catches your fancy and you just have to Drop Everything And Make It!) was a foundation paper pieced block that I gave my brother for his birthday instead of a card. Since he loves the outdoors, I made him a loon.

This is the first of several minis that I'll be making using Made by Marney's patterns. The finishing of the loon mini and the making of ...

Sew Yourself A Merry Little Christmas from Made By Marney

It is so much fun to share photos from my customers and friends. This week I am posting photos of projects created from my Sew Yourself A Merry Little Christmas book.

These 16 adorable placemats were sewn by Donna Smith. She made a placemat for every student in her daughter’s third grade class, using all 16 of the paper piece block patterns from my book. I would love to see the students’ faces when they each get their own special placemat…what a sweet friend they have in Donna.

This cute Snowman Door Knob Pillow was created by Judith ...

Paper Pieced Turkey Pattern…Gobble, Gobble from Made By Marney

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, I’m getting out my meager amount of Turkey Day decorations. For some reason, I don’t have nearly as many November goodies in my stash as I have for Halloween and Christmas.

This googly eyed TURKEY is a fun block to add to a pillow or potholder.

If you are looking for a cute and quick project for Christmas, I just finished this ELFY SHOE block pattern.

One of my sweet customers requested a block that would be similar to my WITCHY PILLOW . Remember, I try to keep all of my blocks the ...

Here’s a new paper piecing pattern hot off my sewing machine and just in time for your Autumn tablescape.

To construct this table topper, you could use any 4 blocks that measure 8″x 8″ unfinished. The Jack O Lantern Table Topper pattern has 2 pumpkin blocks that repeat.

One pumpkin has a toothy grin…

And the other is toothless…

Or, be creative and substitute some of my other Halloween blocks for some of the Jack O Lanterns. Wouldn’t it be cute to have a table topper with all black cats?
