Charity Quilting from Becca's Crazy Projects

I pieced this little quilt using scraps of fabrics left over from other charity quilts. That yellow border was the real win on this little quilt.
This one was pieced by another member of Annapolis Quilts for Kids. I quilted it up and will hand them off to other members to finish the binding and add the label.

Quilted Vest from Becca's Crazy Projects

I keep seeing people and their amazing quilt coats made from quilts. Sometimes the panels are designed and quilted instead of being cut from a quilt. Either way, the results really speak to me. Like all things creative there is some discomfort for some people about cutting up a serviceable quilt to make a coat. I'm sure people have their reasons. I'll point out an exchange I had with my darling husband to illustrate.

While discussing the issue, I said to a friend "They don't realize how many quilts I have."

"No one does." Added my husband ...

Charity Quilting from Becca's Crazy Projects

I quilted up a couple more charity quilts this week.
Both pieced by other members of Annapolis Quilts for Kids

For those keeping count, I missed the blog post on Wednesday this week. I'm not entirely sure what happened. Likely I let life get in the way.

Charity Quilting from Becca's Crazy Projects

Another fun little charity quilt. I'm not sure who pieced this one but I love it anyway. Please forgive my questionable photography skills on this one.
This is another great little quilt pieced by Mary for Annapolis Quilts for Kids. I love how she used the rainbow ombre fabric.

Charity Quilting from Becca's Crazy Projects

I dropped off several quilted charity quilts with Annapolis Quilts for Kids last weekend. I also picked up a stack of quilts made by other members. This was the first one I pulled out to quilt.

Florid Bloom Quilting from Becca's Crazy Projects

This quilt has waited longer to get quilted than most. You can learn more about this quilt in this post from September 2020, or this one also from September 2020. Those posts will tell you where to buy the Florid Bloom template set and Double Wedding Ring Quilts book from Victoria Findlay Wolfe.
I chose this fun daisy pantograph and let the machine do its magic. All this quilt needs now is some binding so it can be the quilt it has always wanted to be.

Quilt Finish: Assemble! from Becca's Crazy Projects

I've had this fabric in my collection for a while. I knew it would become quilt binding one day. This past weekend was that day. I cut my strips and made that binding. The stripes on the fabric are not straight but sort of wavy. Striped binding is one of my favorites because it is just so much fun.
Then, I attached it by machine and finished it with the machine for a quick finish. I rarely finish binding by hand any more.
Second quilt finish of 2022. It took nearly a year from start to finish. Not because ...

Welcome to 2022 from Becca's Crazy Projects

I want to start off the new year with a review of what I did in 2021.
I quilted a total of 76 charity quilts in 2021. That exceeded my personal goal of 52 in a calendar year. This scrappy quilt is just one.
I made so many pairs of socks. These are likely my favorite because I made them using leftovers of Thick Sock from Knitterly Things. And, they are for me. Now that winter has arrived in the northern hemisphere I get to wear my wool socks every day and that's just wonderful!
I bought so much ...

It's a Wrap! 2021 from DaySpringQuilter

2021 is another one for the books!

It was another record year of long arm quilting customer quilts which is no surprise because the quilters get busy during times of stress as well as during good times. In 2021 they were busy!  I had six quilts from one customer which I worked my way through in between other quilts (at her request).  Six at one time might be a bit hard on the budget right?

I managed to get all but three  quilts in my 2021 queue done before I cut off for some time off on the 24th. I ...

A Year in Review - Quilt Finishes from Appalachian Quilts

Sometimes I just don't feel like I've accomplished much when it comes to my quilting.  I have so many patterns laid out that I want to make, but I've been challenging myself to finish some of my old UFOs and flimsies first.  Then, I take a step back and look at what I did get done, and I don't feel so bad.

The first UFO I got done this year was Christmas Ribbons.  You can bet I had it on the bed for the holidays!  I loved this fabric line.

The next completion was my Quilt ...

Woven Palette Charm from Appalachian Quilts

I was going to name this blog post "Lesson Learned".  When I first opened the shop in 2003, Jinny Beyer fabrics were a 'big thing'.  I ordered the entire fabric line.  The shop was smaller and the only wall space I had to hang samples was the distance between the top of the fabric racks and the ceiling.  I was scrambling to get samples made and found this pattern that showcased all of the fabrics in the line.  It was perfect and I was excited to get it made up and hung.

A group of ladies came in to scope ...

Assemble! from Becca's Crazy Projects

This quilt waited a silly amount of time for quilting. You can ready about the assembly of this quilt top in this post from April 2021. What isn't easy to see from this photo, is the quilting. Note: the quilt isn't crooked. My photography skills are crooked.
I chose a light gray thread for the quilting. I chose the machine quilting design Gridlock from Longarm League
I love that the quilting shows up so well on the dark blue, outer border but is more subtle on the panel and flying geese border. I quilted this as an allover ...

Fancy Baskets from Appalachian Quilts

Hello friends and beautiful people!  I pray you had a Merry Christmas!  Ours was full of faith, family and friends.  Thursday night we had our large family dinner with the kids and grands.  Friday night we had friends over for dinner before we all headed to church for our Christmas Eve service.  It was quite relaxing.

I did finish quilting and binding this quilt called "Fancy Baskets".  It is another older Thimbleberries pattern with Thimbleberries fabrics.  The fabric line was called Cottagewood and I really loved it - especially the plaids.  (We do have one pattern left on our website, and ...

Star Table Square from Appalachian Quilts

This one was waiting to be custom quilted.  I've always known how I wanted to quilt it.  So, I waited....I finished quilting it last week and got it bound last night.  I was originally going to bind it in the green.  After I quilted it, I felt like it needed a *pop* of color, so I grabbed a red!

It is called Star Table Square from the book Calendar Table Toppers by Thimbleberries.   (We do have this book in stock!)  This is why I get side-tracked and we made so many quilts in several colorways.  I can see ...

Fall Cover Story from Appalachian Quilts

Believe it or not, I am all caught up on my Christmas longarming.  All of my customer quilts that were needed for Christmas have either been picked up or mailed and business usually dies down for the rest of the year.  It's a time to get caught up and catch my breath before the first of the year.

I loaded more of our allover designs on the Facebook page and am getting ready to load some more fabric and patterns on the website.  Then, it will be time to start paperwork for the accountant.  I love year-end!  Truly I ...

Odds and Ends from Becca's Crazy Projects

Don't let anyone tell you that craft doesn't have value. It has value just like other things that take time and dedication to learn and master. This is my very favorite tote. I use it to hold a current project because I'm crafty and proud. I bought this machine embroidery design from Urban Threads Embroidery.
What is this? Evidently, something way more important than I could have imagined. This little wire tie was holding a bundle of cables on the back of my long arm. Evidently, it was stressed enough to give up. Most of the time ...
