Time to Catch Up! from TheEclecticAbuela

I finally got some photos of the work I've been doing.

Donation Quilts

I cut flannel scraps to make donation quilts. You can see the first batch HERE. They were kid size and made with kids' prints. The next ones were for adults.

Two with many florals

Three with plaids, stripes, and more

I layered them on the fence to take photos. They aren't identical, but they are made with the same mix of fabrics. All five are 60" x 72" and are backed with flannel.

I've been using my 3.5" squares as Leaders/Enders this ...

Final Two Leaders and Ender Quilts from TheEclecticAbuela

These are my last two Two-Rail Fence leader and ender quilts for my year-long project. I have enjoyed making and donating these. I've experimented with colors, fabrics, layouts, and quilting methods. And after making 11 of these, I'm done!

Busybusy May from TheEclecticAbuela

Long time, no post! May is usually consumed with finishing up the semester, and this year was no exception. Add to that a shift change from days to nights in the household, and May has felt a bit topsy-turvy.

I have been working on projects--it just seems that I haven't finished anything, so I'll have a bunch of finishes at once one of these days.

I have been continuing my two-rail fence leader and ender project. This one is number ten for the year. I call it my Easter egg quilt--not because any part of it is egg-shaped ...

Numbers 5 and  6 can be found HERE.

Numbers 3 and 4 are HERE.

Numbers 1 and 2 are HERE.

This time, I went with an uneven Rail Fence block to better show off the colors in the batiks I used. I did one in a stairstep layout and the other in a windmill layout.

Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2017 from TheEclecticAbuela

The Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2017 was hosted by soscrappy. Each month, we worked with a color--at the end of the year, I put my blocks together. Here is the result.

66" x 92"

Backing and binding (detail)

One of the months, we were to use multi-colored scraps. Because I wanted to stick with single colors in my Rainbow quilt, I used that month to create this quilt which I called Stringing Beads.

During the month when we were to use neutrals, I worked on a couple of other projects. (I had used neutral strings each month in my rainbow-colored ...

Two More for the Ongoing Leader/Ender Project from TheEclecticAbuela

I'm continuing my new habit of leaders and enders. I have made six quilts so far (since about June 2017) by doing this. All will be for donation.

The latest two use black instead of the light neutrals of those before. Previous quilts can be found HERE (#1 and #2) and HERE (#3 and #4).

62" x 74"

68" x 74"

I'm working on a batik and black version now. I'm looking forward to seeing how much I can accomplish next year.

My Leader and Ender Projects from TheEclecticAbuela

Each year Bonnie Hunter has a Leader and Ender challenge. This year, her project is a Checkerboard Rail Fence

While I may make her project down the line, right now I'm focusing on my own Rail Fence version. I'm doing a two-rail block (color + neutral) with 2"x 3.5"rectangles. These simple units stack up quickly alongside the other projects I'm working on. My goal is to see how many donation quilts I can make with the year's challenge.

So far, I have two finished tops.

They look very much the same even though the ...
