Happy Easter! from The Cozy Quilter

Another week of staying home.  Another week of hoping and praying that the COVID-19 pandemic will soon be under control and the worrying and anxiety can ease.  I spent some time this week on adding stitches to my March Linen and Thread ornament. I don't plan ahead which colours are going to go where--I just wing it as I go along, and so far I have been pleased with how each ornament has evolved.

I was getting tired of making the same dish cloth pattern over and over again so decided to try something different.  I had a dish ...

Quarantine Quilting – Quilt Top Done from Needle and Foot

Well all this time at home is certainly allowing for lots of time in the sewing room. Last June I started sewing these charm squares I had accumulated into blocks. The charm squares are from a variety of sample packs from Benartex. Simple, prints in soothing colors that wanted to be made into something rather than live on the shelf in the closet (where they had been for at least two years or so).

I saw this idea on Julie’s blog, Me and My Quilts, around that time. She was making something similar and I absolutely copied her!! I ...

National Quilting Day, plus some Slow Stitching from The Cozy Quilter

To celebrate National Quilting Day, I started a new quilt!  The London Modern Guild Sewing day was cancelled today, for obvious reasons, but we were all encouraged to #sewcialdistance and work on our projects at home.  I have had my eye on this pattern for several months now and finally bought the Snowflake pattern online last week.  I was not sure which colour I would use for the scrappy background and after surveying my stash, decided on red.  Here are my first three blocks, completed on Friday.

On Saturday, I made 4 more blocks, but only got a picture when ...

Rosewood Lane Quilt Pattern Update! from Busy Hands Quilts

It's Rosewood Lane's turn for an update!  Last year most of my pattern covers were updated, some patterns were also overhauled inside, and I'm down to the last few needing updated.  Now there are only three pattern covers awaiting updating - Home Awaits, Picket Fence, and Falling Stars.

Joyce of Liberty Green Quilt Shop in Akron, Ohio has been a consistent wholesale customer of my quilt patterns.  She requested printed copies of Rosewood Lane after seeing the Rosewood Lane in Anna Maria Horner fabrics that sold in my quilt shop last year and requested an AMH quilt for ...

Finish – Squared Away! from Needle and Foot

It has been a while since I actually finished a quilt. Hurray for Squared Away – all finished and so pretty! I started this quilt in the beginning of 2018. The block of the month was hosted by Mari at Academic Quilter. Somehow I didn’t end up following along all year though. I can’t honestly remember why. Then the blocks sat and waited, all lonely and sad, until I stitched them together last spring. Since I didn’t have enough blocks for an entire quilt, I interspersed them with a modern print of Pat Bravo’s. It was from ...

Granny's Square Patch Throw Quilt in Tula Pink! from Busy Hands Quilts

Granny's Square Patch in Tula Pink is another quilt I made last year but didn't blog about.  I used ultra modern Tula Pink fabrics in this quilt to show that an old fashioned design and modern fabrics can meld quite well.

In keeping with the modern fabrics, I chose a hexie quilting design, though even a feathery design would have looked lovely as well.  Sometimes choosing a quilting design is paralyzing and you've just got to just jump in and GO or it will never get done.

This lovely blue/purple circular design was found in the ...

Scrappy Quilting and Rainy Week from Grandma's Red Needle

It has been a wet week weather wise. We had a 'cyclone warning class 3' caused by Moderate Tropical Cyclone 'Diane'. 'Class 3' means 'no venture out'. 'Diane' passed 40 km (24.85 miles) off the North coast before 04:00 a.m. Saturday morning and we did not even hear the wind or rain! Luckily it was not a strong cyclone; no flooding or other damages in our area.

I've been super busy with a couple of my scrappy UFO's and happy to say I have a FINISH!

This is my UFO #10 (my UFO list) and ...

OMG January 2020 from Urban Quilter

My one-monthly-goal for this month is to make 72 mini log cabin blocks for a quilt I want to have done in April. The plan is to make a lapquilt from 4" (finished size) log cabin blocks and I will need a total of 168. I have 30 made so if I made 72 this month and 72 next month I will be ready to assemble and quilt in March.

Around the Fireplace quilt from Pieced Brain

All photos by American Quilter magazine. Used with permission.
This is "Around the Fireplace", my quilt just published in the November 2019 issue of the American Quilter magazine. It measures 59" x 59" and the blocks finish at 12". A perfect throw or lap quilt size, with robins, plaids, checks, and applique', this is already decorating my home! Yeah, I know, I have Christmas stuff around the family room and we haven't even passed Halloween. But, since the young boys are all in college, I'd rather skip Halloween altogether, hint at Thanksgiving with a table topper (which I ...
