Cream baby blanket from Granny Maud's Girl

I am a granny! This is actually old news because little Lachlan, who was due in mid-July, was born a few weeks early in late June, but I have been a bit too distracted to post anything here. I think you can understand why.

The big project I was working on before his arrival was a baby blanket. I had more than a dozen balls of Rowan baby silk merino DK, which I bought on sale and stashed a while ago. The pattern I chose for them, ‘Dolce’, is a fun knit that is worked in the round from the ...

Pretty socks from Granny Maud's Girl

A few months ago, I impulsively bought a skein of MadelineTosh sock yarn because it was such as gorgeous fuchsia colour. My plan was to make socks for me, but I gave them to my stepdaughter because they ended up the tiniest whisker too big for me and the perfect fit on her.

'On hold socks' patern by Wendy Johnson knitted in MadelineTosh sock

The lace pattern is interesting enough to be fun to knit without being a complicated chore.

I knitted the two socks together, using the inside of the ball for one and the outside for the other. I ended up with almost no leftover yarn because I was ...

Bead Choices from Patchwork Times by Judy Laquidara

Choosing beads for a project is more difficult than I would ever have imagined. The first hurdle is ordering beads. We don’t have any bead shops nearby. I’m hoping Hobby Lobby will have beads but they won’t have nearly the selection as a real, specialized bead shop. My guess is that I’ll never live near...
