Jumping Into July. from Sunburnt Quilts

It has turned very cold and wet. Not surprising for the middle month of Winter. But it still feels Brrrrrr….. .

The trees have taken a while to change colour but the last two weeks have changed all of that.

Perfect weather to be inside stitching. And that has led to a finish.

My Tinsel BOM, (Sue Spargo), is now a completed top.

I have shown the blocks along the way as each one was completed. That left the border to go. All those snowflakes kept me busy, 144 little circles in all. Once sewn down, each little circle was stitched ...

I've been really remiss on keeping you up- to-date on all my knitting projects.

A Knitting Day from Patchwork Times by Judy Laquidara

Yesterday we took a little road trip and I brought along my knitting project to work on while in the car. I love this yarn and this pattern but when I have crafty time, cross stitching seems to win. It was nice to get to spend a bit of time on this project. The pattern...

Pretty Fabric from Quilts....etc.

I decided to get my fabric ready for the disappearing nine patch toddle quilt – I still have the doll quilt to finish up but I needed a change – these creases were so bad – I have had the fabric bundle for over a year without opening it so I thought washing it would […]

Noah, Giraffes, and Family Visits from Romany Quilting

Sunday mornings here always start with a cooked breakfast, which is Robin’s task.  This morning he cooked up some bacon and eggs.  Always a good start to a lazy Sunday morning when things aren't too rushed.

My stitchery block of Noah and his giraffes needed finishing, so I sat and stitched for a wee while today.  There, that’s one more block from my Noah’s Ark stitchery completed.  I had a count up and there are only two more blocks left to do.

Machine Knitting from Becca's Crazy Projects

Remember this project I was working on last week? Well...
I made it about halfway through before things went pear-shaped. Meaning, I incorrectly estimated the amount of yarn I had available. I incorrectly transferred a stitch. And then I dropped too many stitches to recover from the miscalculations.
This project taught me a few things. I learned I like to look of this lace pattern much more than I like hand-manipulating the stitches to make the lace. I may try slip-stitch designs next.
I also learned that while there is a bunch of yarn in a Caron Skinny Cake there ...

Machine Knitting from Becca's Crazy Projects

I decided it was time to get the LK150 out and knit something. I grabbed this Caron Skinny Cake and the knitting machine.
I recently discovered KnitFactoryImpl on YouTube (YouTube link). They have some great machine knitting videos. This shawl design was intriguing so I'm giving it a try. So far it's going well. I'm excited about the short row knitting to come.

I couldn't resist a mystery selvedge bundle from missourri star. I was not disappointed. It was so fun to see all the goodies. I think most of them are at least 1 1/2 inch  wide.

Making Progress. from Sunburnt Quilts

Bits and pieces are starting to come together. Always good to see progress.

The last block for Tinsel has been completed.

So now the nine blocks are ready to go together. There is then more applique to go on to overlapping blocks. Plenty to keep me busy with this project.

I have also manged to finish a second jumper for our granddaughter. Good timing as it has turned quite cold here. This was a quick one as it was a 10 ply yarn.

That is a short a sweet post for today. Have a great week.

Cheers, Karen

The Yarn Stash from Patchwork Times by Judy Laquidara

I think it’s the stash of beautiful yarn wanting to be made into sweaters that is calling me back to knitting. Yesterday when Vince and I were talking about whether I would continue knitting, I said “At least I should have the yarn I need for the rest of my days.” He said “Does that...

Knitting! from Patchwork Times by Judy Laquidara

I keep “grab and go” bags for everything. I have one for the dogs that has an empty bowl with a lid and a quart jar of freeze dried food, which is enough to last them a few days, two extra bowls for food and two extra bowls for water, extra harnesses, leashes, small blankets,...

stash report May 28, 2023 from Making A Lather

While cleaning my room, I found an unopened box from missourri star quilts. In it were a few neutrals and a fat quarter bundle of kaffe fabric. In my defense, I used to know it was there. I don't need the kaffe until the end of the rainbow scrap challenge year for my lucky stars quilt. So, I didn't hurry to open it.  But, then,.... I forgot it.  Such a lovely surprise to find while cleaning. No one likes to clean, maybe all quilters need to hide fun surprises in the mess to make it more fun. I ...

Slow Stitching Sunday from Romany Quilting

It’s always nice to get the chance to sit and do some slow stitching.  I’ve just finished another of my Noah’s Ark blocks, and this one was tiny.  Actually, I had doubled the size of all the blocks, because I wanted to stitch mine with Perle 5 instead of stranded cotton.  So you can image just how tiny this pattern would have been in the original size.  This block contains snails, tiny bees and lady birds, and two very small butterflies.

Socks in all stages from Rose Prairie Quilts and Farm

I had started this post yesterday with the thought of doing it on the gardening. That has mainly what I’ve been up to these past couple weeks.

But then I went into the studio because I was going to work on getting the snowman wallhanging finished (spoiler alert: didn’t) ……Well I got sidetracked. I had this organizing bug hit me and I started cleaning up the studio and came across a bunch of knitted WIP’s. So then I thought, I’m going to share my WIP’s because I believe a lot of us have the same ...

Christmas, Easter And Winter. from Sunburnt Quilts

That’s a few of the holidays and a season covered!

Christmas refers to the Sue Spargo embroideries for Tinsel.

I have two more finishes and only one more block to go. Of course that is not the end as there is also a lot of work on the border.

I am leaving some of the guideline markings there for when I eventually trim the blocks.

Next, Easter. Our neighbours had a lovely Easter display in their home. They used some fun rabbits purchased from one of the chain stores. I asked to borrow them and had a go at ...

A day off............... from Exuberant Color

I had a few errands to take care of yesterday and a nice outdoor visit with some family.  After all of the digging, planting and mowing I have been doing I just needed a day off.

Last night I looked through my 3 Kathy Doughty books.  I have made quilts from all 3 books, some a little different than her originals.  I didn't find any more that I want to make so these books will go back on the shelf.

After I was done looking through the books I just sat and knitted while I watched the end of ...
