Still Solving the Mystery from TheEclecticAbuela

I've almost completed the mystery from Kevin the Quilter.

This is only a part of the top, but I'll get a better picture when it is done. I'm calling it Cherry Mash after the Missouri-based candy.

If you would like to make Kevin's pattern, the clues can be found HERE. Thanks to Kevin for the summer fun!

Mystery Time from TheEclecticAbuela

As I mentioned last time, my pink scrap bins are full, so when Kevin the Quilter announced this mystery in two colors, I knew one of those colors would be pink.

I chose to pair it with brown--another color of which I have an overabundance.  In the first two clues, we made four-patches.

I did a mystery with Kevin last year with this result.

I'm looking forward to the next clue!

I'm also working on another project that I can't show yet, and I'm putting together more scraps for donation quilts. It is, however, time for ...

String Star Quilt from Cheryl's Teapots2Quilting

It's been busy for me since Kevin the Quilter left.   Kevin left on Saturday afternoon, and we drove towards Texas on Wednesday.  Luckily, as we drove thru Oklahoma that evening, we only got in the edges of the storms that were going thru the area, not in the middle of the bad storms.

We went to Texas to celebrate hubby's mother's 80th Birthday.  All her kids, grandkids and her 2 great grandbaby's were all there. I didn't take but a few photos while I was there.

Kevin the Quilter, String Star class from Cheryl's Teapots2Quilting

It was another fun day with Kevin the Quilter!  Kevin stayed with my husband and I during his visit.  What a great house guest.  We got a couple dozen fresh eggs from Kevin's chickens.  I'd never had a green egg before.  Kevin knows from the color of the eggs, what breed of chicken layed that egg.

Kevin visited my little quilt guild 4 years ago.  I wrote 3 different blog posts for that visit.   The ladies all enjoyed Kevin's presentation so much that when we knew for certain that Kevin was coming ...

Kevin the Quilter, Crumb Star class from Cheryl's Teapots2Quilting

Kevin the Quilter is in town.  He came to speak at my large quilt guild, Pride of the Prairie, and also to teach a class. His presentation last night was great!  Sorry I didn't get any photos, but I was holding up quilts (and getting to be one of the 'Huffman's Hotties' (search his blog and find the Huffman Hotties).

Today was Kevin's Crumb Star class.  Kevin taught us how to 'make' fabric from our tiniest scraps.  Remember that large bucket of scrap fabric I sorted?

Sapphire (Ruby) Stars is Finished from TheEclecticAbuela

Last year, Kevin the Quilter hosted a mystery quilt project. He called it Sapphire Stars, and it was fun to participate with others in creating a quilt.

His quilt featured blue, but I went with my favorite color--RED! I don't think I ever really understood the concept of light red, so my quilt doesn't sparkle like Kevin's, but I like it. Please pardon the bad pictures--I was battling both the flu and the wind!

Many thanks to Kevin for the great project.

I'm linking with Fiber Tuesday 143 at The Quilting Room with Mel.
