Monday's Strength. Morning Glory + New Projects. Book Date. from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

Monday's Strength
At my church, Heart for the World, Pastor Dale has some really cool sayings that I have begun to call "Daleisms".  When I told him about them, he laughed and said he'd never heard of them before.  I've decided to share a few from the June 23rd service which is part of a series titled "Loving Your Family On Purpose".

"Success is having the love and respect of those who know you the best."

At the times all is right in his marriage, he feels like he can "charge hell with a water pistol!"

"When ...

Monday's Strength. Morning Glory Blocks 14-15 Book Date. from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

Monday's Strength

Oh how true - we can be blasted by situations, but we are not destroyed.  During Sunday's sermon, my pastor, Dale Walker, stated, "Bring faith into fear, praise into pain."

If we chose to do just that and remember 2 Corinthians 4:8-9 we can keep the defeated one just that:  defeated!

I am eager to finish up the last block, add sashing and borders.  This year, The Year of the BOMs has been different.  I do enjoy BOMs, however, things have not gone as planned ...

Monday's Strength. Morning Glory Blocks 12-13. Book Date. from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

Monday's Strength

My dear reader, God does indeed bring it all together for us in the end.  I love this part of the verse.

Why does He do this?
"Because He cares,
cares right down to the last detail." James 5:11
That is such a blessing and reassurance for me as I am definitely not a detail person.  Knowing my life and the lives of my loved ones are in the hands of One who cares right down to the last detail is a source of peace for me.  In the moment, I may not understand His ways ...

Monday's Strength. Morning Glory Blocks 10-11. Book Date. from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

Monday's Strength

This morning I needed a word from the LORD, His guidance.  So I reached into my Scripture box and: Wow.  He made His will very clear to me, confirming what He has been telling me all week.

Do we go forth when He calls us to unknown, seemingly scary places or do hesitate?  To be honest, I'm hesitating.  He is patient, though.  He will continue to prepare me for this journey into the unknown.  He'll do the same for you my friend.

Finished a 2010 BOM! from Mama Spark's World

BAM!  Another WIP can be crossed off the list.   Not that any of you even remember this quilt, LOL.  I participated in the Christmas BOM at the Fat Quarter Shop in 2010.   They were VERY generous with their fabric and I was able to eek out 2 blocks for each kit they sent!  I made one for me and one for my friend, Liz that does a lot of my quilting for me.  She got hers quilted right up

Monday's Strength. Morning Glory Blocks 8 - 9. Book Date. from Faith, Trust and Breast Cancer

Monday's Strength

You know, I've been surprised at how calm and peaceful I've been these last few months.  Yes, there have been tears, but, for the most part, I've been walking in faith.

I like this sentence from Jana Alcorn's book, Don't Throw in the Towel, Hope Again!  How can we grow our ability to handle disappointment?  By leaning on our LORD and Savior, Jesus Christ.  It's only through Him that our strength comes.

I pray for His joy - which is our strength (Nehemiah 8:10).  Then, after my pain, trial, disappointment has ...

I May Have A Scrap Problem... Gypsy In The House! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

Scraps, scraps everywhere - they can really consume you, can't they?  But every so often, it's nice to have a finish, and be able to look at it and know that you took something that could have been thrown away and turned it into something beautiful.  You may have seen this post about my Long Time Gone quilt...

...and today, I'm happy to say that now I can add Gypsy Wife to the (nearly) finished column!  I went back and looked through my pictures, and found this one, dated August 8, 2017.

That was the day ...

Jelly Girl Quilt from Magpie Quilts

I made this lovely quilt a while ago and blogged about it here.
This past weekend I brought out all my quilts for an in-person market and fell in love with it all over again. The Kate Spain fabrics are amazing and the colors are so bright and cheerful!
My friend's quilt from the same pattern was also at the market and even thought the pattern is exactly the same, her quilt has an entirely different look.
Blues and tans also look amazing in this pattern. Click on the photos to catch the quilting details.
The pattern is called ...

New pattern: Summer Breeze, a mini charm pack quilt from Carried Away Quilting

My third new quilt pattern this year is called Summer Breeze. Colorful pinwheels spin like whirligigs in a warm breeze. Grab your favorite mini charm pack and some coordinating fabrics to create this cheerful scene, all wrapped up by a dancing ribbon.

Summer Breeze finishes at 26 1/2" square, making it the perfect size for a seasonal wall hanging or kitchen table topper. In my sample I used a mini charm pack of "Aria" by Kate Spain for Moda. I love the saturated colors that Kate uses in her collections.

The ribbon effect is achieved by selecting two greens ...

Good Fortune Baby Quilt | Finished or Not Friday Linky Party! from Busy Hands Quilts

Welcome to Finished or Not Friday where you can share your finished {or not} projects!

Oops, I totally forgot about Finished or Not Friday!  Some secret pattern designing and sewing have taken over every brain cell; that's my excuse!

My Finish is a patchwork baby quilt in Good Fortune by Kate Spain.

This quilt was sewn and quilted several months ago, but I found nothing in the stash that matched for binding, so there it sat.  Somehow, a fabric came through the door {cough, cough} during a stash-building spree that just happened to match.

The backing was inspired by ...

Aron's Chevron Quilt

Aron’s Chevron Quilt

The idea for this quilt came to me more than a year ago when I had a Moda scrap bag. As I thought about what I could create with the scrap bag, I kept coming back to a chevron. Something that I had always wanted to make but up until that point had never made ...

I May Have A Scrap Problem... Success! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

This being the time of year when we are made more aware of things to be thankful for, I can honestly say this year that I am grateful for scraps!  I never thought I would be able to say that, and there are times (particularly at church) when my scrap experience can become a little bit overwhelming, but I am learning to embrace the scrap!

That being said, I'm happy to say that I took some time today and made all thirty-six Square In A Square blocks for my Gypsy Wife quilt!!

This was the first batch ...

I May Have A Scrap Problem... Pillow Cover Tutorial! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

Well, better late than never - I didn't get my tutorial written in time to post this earlier (I actually had to make another pillow cover to take some pictures!) but it's done now!  First, though, let me share with you this week's blocks for the Gypsy Wife quilt...

This block is called Old Maid's Puzzle, and it's the last of the "named" blocks in the book.  As before, these blocks are made out of Kate Spain's Latitude batiks, and I love the colors!  The rest of the blocks are designated as "filler ...

I May Have a Scrap Problem... Playing Catch-up! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

Wow - I've been cranking out pillow covers this week like a crazy woman, so many of them that I almost forgot about scrappy Wednesdays!  Fortunately, I did remember in time to crank out this week's Gypsy Wife blocks...

I am so thankful for my Bloc-Loc ruler, which makes trimming up HSTs so easy!  If you don't have one, you really should invest in one - they are the best!  I actually have two - a 6.5" one for smaller blocks, and a 12.5" one for really big HSTs!

So in less than an hour, I ...

Hi, all!

Wow, this week is really flying by!!  And this is my third post in three days, so I'm going to keep it short and sweet this week.

I finished the next block for Gypsy Wife - this week's block is called Nurses Cross.

And here's a picture of all of the blocks I've made so far...

really love how this is coming along, and can't wait until I can start assembling it!

Next, I've been working with my scraps to create more pillow covers...
