Good Fortune Baby Quilt | Finished or Not Friday Linky Party! from Busy Hands Quilts

Welcome to Finished or Not Friday where you can share your finished {or not} projects!

Oops, I totally forgot about Finished or Not Friday!  Some secret pattern designing and sewing have taken over every brain cell; that's my excuse!

My Finish is a patchwork baby quilt in Good Fortune by Kate Spain.

This quilt was sewn and quilted several months ago, but I found nothing in the stash that matched for binding, so there it sat.  Somehow, a fabric came through the door {cough, cough} during a stash-building spree that just happened to match.

The backing was inspired by ...

Aron’s Chevron Quilt Pattern from Brown Bird Designs Quilts

I am so excited to present to you my scrappy chevron quilt and pattern!!! It is another pattern release party day! Here I talk about the quilt, pattern, fabric, and giveaway. Yes, I said giveaway, so let’s start the party!

Aron's Chevron Quilt

Aron’s Chevron Quilt

The idea for this quilt came to me more than a year ago when I had a Moda scrap bag. As I thought about what I could create with the scrap bag, I kept coming back to a chevron. Something that I had always wanted to make but up until that point had never made ...

I May Have A Scrap Problem... Success! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

This being the time of year when we are made more aware of things to be thankful for, I can honestly say this year that I am grateful for scraps!  I never thought I would be able to say that, and there are times (particularly at church) when my scrap experience can become a little bit overwhelming, but I am learning to embrace the scrap!

That being said, I'm happy to say that I took some time today and made all thirty-six Square In A Square blocks for my Gypsy Wife quilt!!

This was the first batch ...

Good Fortune Lap Quilt | Finished or Not Friday Linky Party! from Busy Hands Quilts

Welcome to Finished or Not Friday where you can share your finished {or not} projects!

My Finish is a lap size patchwork quilt in Good Fortune.  This is the last of this collection in my stash.  I am beginning to see shelves in my fabric closet again!

The pictures were taken on what hopefully wasn't the last sunny day until spring.

I May Have A Scrap Problem... Pillow Cover Tutorial! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

Well, better late than never - I didn't get my tutorial written in time to post this earlier (I actually had to make another pillow cover to take some pictures!) but it's done now!  First, though, let me share with you this week's blocks for the Gypsy Wife quilt...

This block is called Old Maid's Puzzle, and it's the last of the "named" blocks in the book.  As before, these blocks are made out of Kate Spain's Latitude batiks, and I love the colors!  The rest of the blocks are designated as "filler ...

I May Have a Scrap Problem... Playing Catch-up! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

Wow - I've been cranking out pillow covers this week like a crazy woman, so many of them that I almost forgot about scrappy Wednesdays!  Fortunately, I did remember in time to crank out this week's Gypsy Wife blocks...

I am so thankful for my Bloc-Loc ruler, which makes trimming up HSTs so easy!  If you don't have one, you really should invest in one - they are the best!  I actually have two - a 6.5" one for smaller blocks, and a 12.5" one for really big HSTs!

So in less than an hour, I ...

I May Have A Scrap Problem... Gypsy Wife Progress, and Some Stashbusting! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

Wow, this week is really flying by!!  And this is my third post in three days, so I'm going to keep it short and sweet this week.

I finished the next block for Gypsy Wife - this week's block is called Nurses Cross.

And here's a picture of all of the blocks I've made so far...

really love how this is coming along, and can't wait until I can start assembling it!

Next, I've been working with my scraps to create more pillow covers...

...pulling out some UFO/practice pieces to turn ...

Designer Mystery Quilt from Pieced Brain

Catching up with the Fat Quarter Shop's 2017 Designer Mystery Block of the Month has been fun! The first one I worked on was Pat Sloan's "Cat's Pajamas":

I made it's four patches then put them all together. The finished quilt will look lovely because of the choices of fabrics, don't you think?

Here is block 4 by Kate Spain called "Soda Pop":

It was very fast because first...

... you make the four patches, then...

... the diamond in the square for the center, followed by the side patches (no photo). That's it. Here are ...

I May Have a Scrap Problem... Progress! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

I am feeling so excited at busting some stash this week!  It's such a good feeling to see progress.  It's not scraps - at least not most of it - but it is some long-held stash bits and pieces, usually a yard or less.

But first, here's my Gypsy Wife block for the week - actually two of them this time!

This block is called "Puss In The Corner" - a traditional block - but one I hadn't ever tried before.  It was quick and easy, and it was so much fun to pick out the fabrics!  I really ...

I May Have a Scrap Problem... Not Getting Much Better! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

Wow, it has been a week!  I had so many commitments, and so many other things going on, that I didn't get much done on the scrap sewing front.  Boo!

I did, however, get my Gypsy Wife block for this week done!  This block is called Indian Hatchet, and the one on the left is for my GW quilt.  The one on the right is for the Michael Miller Friendship Quilt project, and is made from fabrics provided by Michael Miller Fabrics at QuiltCon.  The fabrics have been sitting on my worktable since February and it feels ...

I May Have A Scrap Problem... A Little Stashbusting! from Confessions of a Fabric Addict

Hi, all!

It's been a busy week!  I have to say, I've been doing more stash busting than scrap sewing this week, because of the "A Heart For Texas" pillowcase drive.  I've made more than a few pillowcase kits...

This isn't even all of them - I've put together 47 kits so far, some of which have been sewn up and others which will be sewn this Wednesday and Saturday.  Each one takes about a yard of fabric, so they're eating up the smaller pieces of fabric that have been languishing in my stash!  It ...

Allie's Quilt from Seaside Stitches

Another recent finish was this graduation gift for my son's girlfriend. A week before her graduation, I was cleaning up my sewing area and rediscovered this fabric. I knew it would be perfect for Allie, so I started cutting and stitching.

I started with 3 mini charm packs of Kate Spain's Paradiso line. The mostly blue squares were combined with Kona Snow for some yummy 9-patches. Those were set on point, and alternated with plain square-in-a-square blocks with Kona Bahama blue. Very simple piecing. The points were extended around the perimeter to complete the design. I used every ...
