blue candy blocks from Making A Lather

I did get the blue candy blocks finished this week for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy. This time, I had many more choices of scraps to build these blocks. I have more blue and red scraps than any other color. I was able to go to my Friday group and I did make some progress. It was good to sew again. I think I am ready to tackle blue this month.

I have been canning butter as ghee. While I was at goodwill, trying to dig up some pint canning jars, I started talking to another women and ...

star and crown blocks from Making A Lather

I started the green blocks for star and crown a little late this month for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy. I only have 4 of them done, but, the other 4 are cut and ready to go. I need to dig out some background scraps. I am running low on those fabrics.

I did 2 zipper blocks as leader/enders. I need to cut some solids. Finding scraps in print fabric isn't hard, but solids are not something I use very often. I have been through the 2 inch drawers and have pulled as many as I ...

One monthly goal fail from Making A Lather

I had as my May one monthly goal, an older ufo. I have no idea how to finish this little quilt. I have procrastinated and procrastinated. That is why I am making it my one monthly goal or I will never see this finished.

Well, I did not finish. The 26th of May I said to myself - oops time is up. So, I did sew one piece to the side, and then, wondered why it had taken so long. sigh...

Maybe now that the thread is cut and the needle is threaded I can make a little progress on it ...

waffle sky from Making A Lather

I am guessing I only meant to cut more waffle stamp blocks this year for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy. because, when I went to sew this month's color, I found several piles of pieces of other colors. I did finish green and red this month. I can get lost in making the strips for the 1 1/2 inch center blocks. And I can always dig up an odd piece of 1 1/2 inch that I can use. So, I just keep making them, and there is no stopping. There is always a partial piece ...

more blossom time from Making A Lather

I made blossom time blocks for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy. I wasn't sure how I would fit green into the mix since there was so much green already with the stems and leaves. I think I found some greens that were ok. I used 2 1/2 in strips to cut these. I used pieces that were at least 8 inches long. If I had any left over, in green, I cut for more stems and leaves. I need a piece that is at least 9 inches long to cut a set.

I planted orange mint ...

string blocks from Making A Lather

I grabbed a bucket of strings and crumbs and started sewing pieces together for my hole in the barn quilt. I feel like I am going to run out of the strips before I am done with all the colors for the rainbow scrap challenge. I only need the rectangles to be 2 1/2 inch wide. It is a great opportunity to use the small pieces.

I am aiming for rectangles that are 2 1/2 x 4 1/2 inches.

I enjoyed my Mother's day with church and family for dinner. But, it certainly wore me out ...

green sweet tooth blocks from Making A Lather

I am happy to dig around in my green scraps for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy.  This week I made green crumb blocks and added HSTS to make my sweet tooth blocks. I found this quilt on sane crazy crumby quilt blog here. The crumb centers are 4 1/2 inches with 2 1/2 inch HSTS. So, the side pieces are 2 1/2 x 4 1/2 inches and the top and bottom are  pieces are 2 1/2 x 6 1/2. I think Jenny Doan did a you tube video.

And it was finally ...

hunters star and waffles from Making A Lather

This is the last week in April for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy. I finished cutting and sewing for my Hunter's star

Then, I felt that I had enough of a variety to try putting 2 blocks together and see how it looks. I think I am going to like it a lot.

I made s few waffle stamp blocks in pink to finish the month. I thought I had made all the blocks I would need last year, but, somehow I was very short when I tried to put them together. I think I misplaced some ...

zip it up from Making A Lather

I started a new block, recently, called Zipper. I saw it on sane, crazy crumby quilts, and, she referred to Klein meisje quilts

I wasn't sure I was going to start sewing these this year, but, I couldn't resist. I cut the pink for April's rsc color. And, the next thing I know, I am sewing them.

I have been cutting scraps for stashbuster block from Border Creek Station Pattern Company, but, this is my first block. The idea is to make 1 each week. I guess I am behind.

I spent a little time harvesting weeds ...

pink star and crown blocks from Making A Lather

I found some lovely pinks in my reproduction fabrics and scraps to make these star and crown blocks for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy

The farmer around us "cleaned" our fence row with a skid steer and claw. He did a lot of damage to our trees and made a big pile to burn 12 feet behind our property. He did pick a misty morning to burn it, but, I was very anxious about it spreading to our place.
Trees are being destroyed all around our area for "progress" I think the green people should be more concerned ...

antique tile quilt from Making A Lather

At our group open sew, we saw many fun projects. This quilt was made entirely from a large box of 2 inch squares. She is ready to quilt.

This is Sue's  boho heart. She is part of our little group making this quilt together. She is the first to finish. I have Linda's boho to quilt for her, Judy has most of the blocks made, and I have the first whole section on the left almost together.

Linda was working on her tula pink quilt.

and added a border

And I was able to sew all the rows ...

a little hole in the wall from Making A Lather

I am cutting more pink scraps from 2 1/2 inch strips.

Pink is a good color for these Hole in the barn blocks. I just unearthed ( by cleaning) more yellow block parts.

Hubby and I traveled to a fiber fair yesterday in Greencastle Indiana. It was the first one since the pandemic started.
I have more than enough fleece already at home, but they look so nice for spinning.

pink blossoms from Making A Lather

I cut for my pink projects and the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy.

go fish 2 1/2, waffle stamp 1 1/2, easy breezy 1 1/2

I had enough blossom time strips already cut to make all the pink I would need, from when I started this quilt a few years ago. I did need to cut the HSTS and make more stems and leaves. And, now, I am out of any premade 4 patches for the corners going forward. Rhododendron trail mystery quilt had seriously decimated my pink scraps, so, it is a good thing I ...

sweet tooth from Making A Lather

I have my candy blocks ready for April and the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy. Angela dropped the hint for the color a little early, so, I quick made crumb blocks and tada.. candy. I have baggies of strings sorted by color for the year.

It looks like I have some cutting to do with my pink scrappy strips. Last year, I was a little overwhelmed with my rsc choices for projects. This year, I was minimal at the start. But, with each passing month, I am adding something new that catches my eye. I think I just really ...

Sweet tooth candy blocks from Making A Lather

I woke up one morning, and, I wanted to make noodles. That was odd. Who wants to make noodles when you can open a bag from the store. The house was quiet, and, I cracked open a few eggs and started. It was a very sentimental time, and filled my heart with love for all the really great women who had taught me how to make noodles. I first thought of my Mother, who has been gone for 20 years. I could see her unrolling those long noodles and she talked about her Mother teaching her. It was an art ...
