MixMaster Fiber Artist from CollectInTexas Gal

Since declaring myself a Fabric and Fiber Artist with the establishment of Sue's Fiber&Fabric Studio, I have zoomed in on the creativity and diversity of fiber.  Textile Fiber to be specific.

It's good to confirm my thoughts on Textile Fiber that match the official definition which states, 'textile fiber can be spun into a yarn or made into a fabric by various methods including weaving, knitting, braiding, felting, and twisting.

Yay....I'm all in on everyone of those methods.

The essential requirements for fibers to be spun into yarn include a length of at least 5 ...

Brown and Red Bracelet (jewelry making) from France Nadeau

Brown and Red Bracelet (jewelry) - francenadeau.comBrown and Red Bracelet (jewelry) - francenadeau.comBrown and Red Bracelet (jewelry) -

I followed a tutorial by Cut Out + Keep to make the sliding closure. I used wooden beads and a faux-leather cord. The tutorial calls for nail polish at the first and the last knots of the closure. I applied it liberally all over the sliding closure to make sure it doesn’t come off. I even threaded the cord through the knots before cutting the ends (before brushing the nail polish). Better be safe, no?

Scrap Around The Clock...It's What Quilters Do from CollectInTexas Gal

As with my Fabric Stash, I have been working on my 'UseIt-or-LoseIt' philosophy with the Bead and Button Stash.  These 'Quilt-Sew' charms have been hoarded saved for ages and, I'm sure by now, can be considered vintage collectibles.
I can't begin to tell you how long I've had the Roman Numeral Clock Disk, or how many times I have tried to 'UseIt'.  Finally, I think it works for this 'Scrap Around The Clock' necklace.

Once I sit down at 'The Jewelry Station' in my Home Studio, and the jewelry juices begin to flow, it's easy to ...

Rejuvenating Jewelry Case and Jewelry In June from CollectInTexas Gal

"Hang on to never know when you will NEED it again".
I'm patting myself on the back for hanging on to an old jewelry case that has been in service one time or another through a family thrift store, umpteen Junktique Booths, and now in Sue's Fiber&Fabric Studio.  All toll, it's spent as many as thirty years displaying shop/booth jewels or covered in dust while awaiting it's next assignment.  So, here it is...Rejuvenated in June 2017...along with a few Vintage Rejuvenated Jewels.
After a Steel Wool scrubbing and polishing, a ...

Betcha thought this was about a new Tool Bar App!
I wish it was...I'd be stringing $$$Bills instead of Beads!
As it is, this Tool Bar lineup has the potential to perpetuate Beads to Bucks!  Let me explain...then you will know why this is my first download for June.  June 1st fell on a Thursday,  two days before my biggest $$$Day...or potential The First Saturday Event/Show/Sale.  It happens on the first Saturday of every month, and as a Studio Artist at The Chicken Farm Art Center, I make the most of the ...

Trending In Bohemian Zelena from CollectInTexas Gal

Have you noticed how the 'Boho Trend' has caught on fire in Fashion, Jewelry, Home Décor and just about every aspect that pertains to the Design Industry?  I have always been drawn to the Bohemian/Gypsy/Hippie look and culture.  I once was a young wannabe Hippie Girl, but Lone Star Cowboys and Iowa Farm Girls did not raise Flower Children...unless named Daisy, Violet, Rose or even Petunia. Can you imagine...Petunia Sue!

It wasn't until I began researching my Iowa Farm Girl Mother's Family Tree, that I understood why I felt so drawn and in tune ...

sewing with knits, elasic waist summer skirt from edeenut

An addition to Me Made May 2017 is this knit skirt. I'm starting to branch out from my lounge pants and wearing more clothes that are presentable this month because my foot is allowing me to leave the house more (even though my shoe still makes my foot puff up like a Dr. exam glove).

This skirt has an elastic waist and it's cut with a slight flare towards the bottom so it's not a pencil skirt. The waist uses 2" wide elastic in a separate casing and it's pretty comfy.
I had originally bought this ...

It's All About 'The Details' from CollectInTexas Gal

Hummer Time from CollectInTexas Gal

You know how one thing leads to another?  Of course you do, it's a common malady among people like me who have the 'Dori Syndrome'..."Oh, Look...something shiny".

Turns out the something shiny caught my eye while fishing (pun intended) for clasps for several necklaces I made from a strand of beautiful porcelain and glass beads that belonged to my mother.

Like I said...'One thing leads to another', and before I knew it, my worktable was cleared of fabric, rotary cutters, rulers etc., etc., and replaced with 'Jewelry Making Stuff' and a new idea I have been ...

Second in the Series from Quilting & Learning

Two fabric flowers
Two fabric flowers
My second Escape Art Quilt is done! It had to sit and percolate a while before I was ready to finish it.

I knew that there would be 2 fabric flowers that I had made, although I wasn't sure of their placement. I also wanted to add more embellishment, but didn't want to go overboard (something I can easily do!)

I went in my jewelry box and found a lovely chunky red flower - it's perfect!

10 Gift Ideas for Quilters from Brown Bird Designs Quilts

It is always hard to find the right gift for a friend or family member. I put together a few items that I think quilters would love. A gift guide. If you are a quilter yourself, you can always pair the gift with a handmade bag, mini quilt or mug rug. A coffee mug with a handmade mug rug would be perfect or the wall hanger with a handmade mini – I love that idea! There are all sorts of items on this list ranging from a bracelet to a rotating cutting mat. Oh yeah, a mat that turns 360 degrees ...

sunday style report: denim and leather from edeenut

Sometimes easy outfits are the best. I love when I can wear one dress and not have to worry about matching or coordinating a top and a bottom, skirt or pants. A dress is super convenient for so many reasons.
This shirt dress is still going strong and on repeat every month or so. My husband doesn't like it at all, but I do and it makes my life easier.

I got this new leather wrap bracelet this week and love it so much! My wrists are pretty tiny so I was happy to have this come and fit ...

style report: saying good bye to, please stay from edeenut

It's a sad day when I wake up and feel too chilly to put on shorts. I love wearing jeans, but I still want my warmer days to last. I will take September-October any day. In southern California, those are the best months.
This was the first week I wore pants while dropping off my youngest at school. I quickly changed out of them into shorts the first chance I got when the chill was gone.

These straight cuff jeans are a new one for me. I got them at the gap factory and decided they are pretty cute ...

sunday style report: easy casual shirt dress from edeenut

Finding a shirt dress that is long enough for me is not an easy task. I discovered this old navy denim button up dress and ordered it in a size Small Tall. I wish there was and XS option in Tall, but the Small has been okay and I've still worn it. If it bothers me too much down the road, I may take in the sides a bit with my sewing machine, but for now there is a tie for the waist so I just wear it as is.

Even with the side slits, the length is long ...
