Prepping for Guild Sewing Day and some Hand stitching. from The Cozy Quilter

I'm not one of those quilters who cuts everything out before starting to sew a quilt.  I like to cut a little, sew a little, press a little and then repeat until I have enough blocks. This week, I started getting ready for the Vice President's Challenge day at the Oxford Quilters Guild next Saturday.  This event, usually in person, will be on Zoom again this year.  I needed several fat quarters and some yardage for background for this project.  We are to prepare a whole bunch of HST's before the sewing day.  I am using some ...

The Joy of HST's ~ Stitch, Clip and Flip Fun! from Podunk Pretties

Here it is a new year and I'm at the same place I was last year.  How about you?  I've got  HST's galore!  Years of snipping, clipping and telling myself  "I'll deal with those next week, next month or when I finish this project."  Oh the joy of creating extra HST's with every quilt, or cutting off the extra and saving them for a someday that never comes.  In my mind there's always a fabulous

Zigzags and some Knitting from The Cozy Quilter

Last week, I had started making some HST blocks in navy, forest green and burgundy with tan as the light half of each HST.  At that time, I had thought I would need over 100 units to make the quilt I was making.  Turns out, I need 225 to make the quilt 15 by 15 units.  I churned out the 225 units early in the week and started playing with them. There are many possibilities for quilt designs with HST's but I decided to make  zigzags. The first 5 rows are sewn together and the part that's missing ...

More Half Square Triangles from Podunk Pretties

After yesterday's Fourth of July family time I found a little energy left in me to square up a few half square triangles.  These HST's are my newest leaders and enders challenge I started back a few weeks ago.  You can read about it here.

What is a leader and ender?  Well I could tell you but it's not my invention.  I heard about it years ago from Bonnie Hunter.    You can read her explanation of the process here.    You can see some of her yearly FREE leaders and enders projects below.

Lupins, Slow Knitting and a Finished Quilt Top from The Cozy Quilter

My lupin blocks continue to accumulate...I finished 4 more blocks this afternoon. 28/48 blocks have been completed.  This fat quarter adds some more red-violet to the mix.

I have four of each of these 7 blocks.

I started a new knitting project last weekend...another facecloth in turquoise.  I have a few more repeats of the pattern to go before this one is done. I will be working on it tomorrow.

The final layout for the London Modern Guild HST BOM was published this past week so I set to getting my blocks sewn together.  My blocks are ...

Embroidery Done and some HST blocks from The Cozy Quilter

I sat down with a cup of tea by my side and added more embroidery stitches to my project several times this past week.  Yesterday, I finished the last few stitches, and it is done!  As directed, I soaked it in warm water and the pink lines on the fabric magically disappeared.

I had fun trying out some new stitches and when I find the hoop that came with the kit (I know I put it somewhere safe and now it is MIA), I will hang it in my sewing room.

I bought the kit at QuiltCon a year ago ...
