The week ahead... from Not Afraid of Color

Every time I write these posts I think of the Carol King lyrics,
Looking out on the morning rays...
Welcome to this week's Happy Homemaker post.

The Weather
First the good news, it's sunny. Clear skies. This weekend we woke to heavy gray skies, and the wind nearly blew us sideways on our morning walk. I asked DH who has his mental finger on the weather at all times, is snow predicted. Nope he said! It was bitterly cold and serious winds, and here on the high desert you could see far in the distance that someone was ...

the week ahead from Not Afraid of Color

Command Central
Another Monday, and we meet again.
The weather is quite nice this morning. It's cold but then it's winter. After several days of sun on the snow, there is a lot of ice still around here, but our driveway has almost melted. Yes DH shovels, and I sweep what's left but still ice forms.

As I look around I see a lot that needs doing but I just cannot keep up with it. I have a PT appt today to try to relieve the nerve pinch. I do love this house however big and dusty ...

Welcome to this week's Happy Homemaker post. The picture above is from a recent walk... and it reminds me to "walk on the sunny side of the street" as the other side is coated in a 2" sheet of ice.

It's February, the months are flying off the calendar like in a movie.

The Week Ahead from Not Afraid of Color

Well, it's Monday.
Monday brought to you by the color white and it's friend grey.

Weather
The "trace" of snow predicted became about 4" and it's still coming down as I write this.
Pull on your boots for a walk today
 From my perch...
It's about 8AM, I'm in my flamingo Jammies, drinking coffee with milk, and looking at snow blowing horizontally past the slider. The poodle has already been out back, and "Calling all dogs!" nearly barked his head off. Apparently he barks recreationally, and silly me thought he only barked to alert us ...

Welcome to this week's happy homemaker post.
It's Monday again, and I'm not sure how that happened...

The weather
winter
we have snow on the ground from a week ago, becoming an iceberg. People told us before we moved here that it's dry! Snow disappears without need for plows! No! Nope! Lies all around. Nope it piles up, the sun melts the top, it turns quickly to ice and bingo, with my slippery vertebra I am stuck in the house. Grrr. Anyway another round is due starting with rain, (more ice) then snow tonight. Yea!

Breakfast ...

Our clouds are really outstanding.
I know she threw a snowball...
The weather in Aurora
cold with 7" of white snow. Snow then meltwater in the sun. Then ice in the shade.
Oh and we can smell the far away stockyards from here, nearly every day. Peee-ewwww (don't be jealous lol! )

Right now
I'm writing this last night, lol, meaning Sunday night but it will drop in Monday morning
I am thinking, will I have to turn in my two ...

Looking out on the morning rays....
I love quiet mornings with Dad, quiet til I alert my peeps there are people on the sidewalk!
welcome to this week's Happy Homemaker post... let's get started on the week ahead shall we?

Looking around the house...
it seems dusty. We cleaned the floors yesterday but it's a bigger house than we had before. Table tops are full of books and magazines, bags of purchases from the weekend are in a chair reminding me to maintain order takes effort.

Welcome to this week's Happy Homemaker post.
Tomorrow is a start to a new year.
I cannot believe how much was packed into 2018, and that it's nearly over.whew.

beaded flower from Dillards this week
I forgot about this regular post when I wrote a post on our recent trip into Denver to the Art Museum, so that will have to be on Wednesday. I am continuing  to post daily for a bit.

Coming into a new year is important to me, as is ...

Starting the day
I can see all the pretty decorations from my computer perch, and also the back yard with it's dry brown grass and artistically arranged dog toys. A squirrel is enjoying what's left of the pumpkin for his breakfast, but we grab whatever ...

Welcome to Monday's Happy homemaker post

The Weather in Aurora CO this week
Out for a walk last week, I was surprised to see it was 60F with cloudy skies...
We live in Colorado now, not Montana's big sky country, however, the cloud show here is breathtaking. It can be clear blue, then an hour later this.
I think I'd like to do an art quilt with this photo, what do you think? Lots of sky...

For breakfast
Let's see... what's leftover... I'm of the cold leftover pizza makes a great breakfast personality type ...

The weather in Aurora CO
warmer, and sunny this week til Thur when it may snow again. Glad to see the sun!
Good Poodle Grooming weather!

eating
I know I should stop eating fat, and carbs and only eat vegan food, but I can't do it without a lot of sacrifice and the holidays with all their demands to be jolly and hap-hap-happiest are not the time for me to feel deprived. I'm having what tastes good, what is easy to make, what feels comfortable.
And cookies.

Welcome to this week's Happy Homemaker post where we share our lives with others!
That quilt was made a year ago, the hexies put together by 60 Deg. diamonds into straight rows so it can be done on machine.

The Weather in Aurora CO
It's cold... bone chilling! We put up a few lights this weekend with numb hands. It's so cold the icicle lights won't unfurl! High today around freezing with snow possible again. The snow from two weeks ago is still visible in more shady areas, ice on sidewalks too.
Right now the sun ...

The week ahead #11 from Not Afraid of Color

Ahhhh, is it Monday already?
Thanksgiving 2018 is behind us, and Christmas is ahead. This is my view this morning as I write this post. A fresh bright red damask tablecloth on our kitchen table.

Look fast, it's as cleared off as it will ever be!

Tips and tricks
My red table cloth is very large, big enough for all the leaves in the table, but the room only supports one leaf at the moment, so I had to figure out how to use this pretty cloth. I folded it in thirds, and turned it so that the table ...

Welcome to this week's Happy Homemaker party!

It was a busy week last week, with physical therapy, an art quilt meeting, and my husband's car was hit while he drove to work. Like they say, the best laid plans... the other driver was found at fault so their insurance should pay to repair the car, however it will take almost 2 months to get back.

The other driver's lack of care caused us untold trouble and I hope everyone drives safely today, looking out for the other guy, giving people room, being patient, watching for crazy drivers ...

Looking at another week... and welcome to it!
don't those two spotlights look like the lawn is looking back at you?

  The weather in Aurora CO
it was like Fall all week,
then it was like Winter on Sunday
and if weather predictions are true, back to fall-like temps later this week

Breakfast yesterday
much more interesting than today... turkey bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwiches while watching the snow come down
On the to do list
How come the to do list never gets shorter? Or more fun?
The usual maintenance items but I finally mopped the wood floors ...

the week ahead... happy homemaker #9 from Not Afraid of Color

Welcome to this week's Happy Homemaker post about the week ahead...Isn't that leaf interesting?
I love the way the color starts at the vein. The whole tree was like that! Then they were down after quite a blowing rainstorm this weekend.
Bare now, there is little to buffer the views of neighbors, or to block a certain puppy's barks
Even these bright pinkish red fruits were blown mostly off the tree to decorate the sidewalks with red bead necklaces
and ball bearings for us to skitter on walking in the dark. It's dark a lot ...

The week ahead #8 going around in circles from Not Afraid of Color

Going around in circles
Welcome to my version of Happy Homemaker

the weather in Aurora today
Changeable. Mercurial. Hot and cold. The weather can't make up it's mind. It was a  hot week with the sun beating down making the feels like temps in the 80's with nights in the 40's. It would be nearly perfect if I hadn't overreacted to the quick change to 19F a couple weeks ago and traded my closet for all winter clothes!

On the walk yesterday, Milo just plopped down in shade and panted, refusing to walk one more ...

Welcome to the week ahead, prompted by the Happy Homemaker's link party!
                                  the weather here
perfect. 70, sunny, cool at night. Perfect fall weather all week.
We went from 5" of snow to this in a day

                                   To-do list this week

Hooray!  the garage door guy came out last Monday (instead of Thursday like the stupid Home Warranty agreed to). It took all day. When torsion springs break, the door cannot be lifted so my husband's car was trapped and he had to take the day off from work. Better than my friend Fran, who said her torsion ...

Welcome to this week's Happy Homemaker post... and my "week ahead"

The weather in Aurora CO this week
cold. Like many places in the US we went from hot 90's to 30's in a moment. We had snow 5 times in 8 days and yesterday we got about 4 inches or more. Last night was supposed to dip to 10F. We dug out the cuddle duds long 'wears and the poodle's sweater
can you just see my sweater?
and went for a walk in it. Might as well since it went on all the livelong day ...

The week ahead... post #5 from Not Afraid of Color

Good morning, happy Monday! Aren't Mondays great! lol

I'm linking up to the party at (  happy-homemaker-monday- )

The Weather
It's raining. The temps went from 90 to 30 without passing go. Like a switch was turned. It's been gray and rainy for three days now, and the forecast is for same all week. We had a bit of snow on Saturday morning,

will get more today, and tonight, and maybe in the morning.
Don't get me wrong... I have so very much to do inside that it will be okay this week, but I have a ...
