I have always been awed and inspired by

These quilts are my favorite Halloween decorations.

Maybe this year I should hold another quilt-along.

What do you think?

Pix-elated Skull from Gray Barn Designs

I spent a fun weekend in Erie, Pa watching my roommate’s son-in-law run a marathon. SIL is a fast runner and the Erie race is a good one for qualifying for the Boston Marathon. The site of the race, Presque Isle state park, is lovely — I will definitely return to Erie for the beachfront, the shopping, the wine and the food.

Calm Lake Erie on the morning of the race. The weather was perfect for runners.

SIL qualified — in personal best fashion. As a former (much slower) marathoner, it was a thrill to see him cruise across the finish ...

Happy Fall Y'All from Random Thoughts... do or "di"

We are well into the fall season...everybody's favorite season. I wish it could be fall all year long. In Southern California, since the days are shorter, it feels cooler even though we are still experiencing 80'F days. Most nights I can cozy up with a quilt.
This fall quilt started as a kit I bought many years ago when my taste in quilts was quite different. It was a strip quilt with appliquéd pumpkins and such on it. I decided to just make a log cabin quilt. I added some more current fabrics to it and I ...

Life in a Twizzle from Gray Barn Designs

Since my brand new sophomore returned to school, it seems that time has sped up. There is so much happening, it’s a good thing that I have my planner, because I’d never keep all of this straight!

He wasn’t completely thrilled to return to routine, but I do believe that he was ready for a change.

As my son is tackling trig, the bathroom renovation that I’ve been dreaming about has finally begun. Seriously, this project has been 1+ years in the making, but I still haven’t finalized all of the details. I think I ...

Let's See If I Remember How to Blog from Stella Bella Quilts

Well hello there (especially to Dianne who reminded me that I need to blog and read my emails more often).   I guess it's been a over a year since I posted. Wow time goes by.  I've been Instagramming so if you've missed the cats, images around NM, more cats, and a few quilts you can find me over there (@stellabellaquilts).

We are all fine. Cats are happy, S. is happy, I am happy.  Santa Fe is marvelous. I just fell out of the blogging ritual and maybe turned a little inward.  There's too much to catch ...

Seasonal Peer Pressure from Gray Barn Designs

IMG_0687Have you noticed all the fall-themed quilts on social media sites this week? As soon as the calendar turns to August, the back-to-school drumbeat begins and everything is all brilliant maple leaves and pumpkins. This is not new. I remember when I was in high school, the highlight of the summer was driving to Rochester, NY to shop at the Southtown Plaza for school clothes. We had to make this 70+ mile trip because there were no real stores in our small town. We always stopped at a restaurant called the Carriage House. They served the most delicious clam chowder ...
