brewing wips from Charm About You

I haven't done much this week, there's a bright shiny thing in the sky that keeps distracting me and making me want to be outside!! We don't usually get much sun here, not in April anyway, so we're making the most of it and hanging out in the garden.

A good place to work on my green tea and sweet beans blocks though and I managed a little bit more appliqué:

Today I had intended to finish up Catherine's row for Bee A Brit Stingy but that will have to get done tomorrow because today ...

currently... {& discount code!} from Charm About You

I am finishing my le challenge project, sneak peek only!

Working on my green tea and sweet beans - excuse all the creases it gets taken around with me and chucked about!

I'm working on making a row for Catherine for Bee A Brit Stingy, I've done three blocks so far:

All the blocks are from Fat Quarterly Shape Workshop for Quilters. The last one worked out a little small so I will need to add borders of some kind, I'm thinking about a strip at the bottom and to one side but will see how it works ...

silence is perturbing from Charm About You

well that was an unintentional break... it hasn't been because anything wonderful or tragic happened, life has just been rolling along. Honestly I think it's not a good sign, it tends to mean I feel a bit stuck and when I'm disconnected to my making and writing it all feels a bit blah. Ambivalence doesn't sit well with me and so I am shaking it off and just trying to get back to it.

I've been cleaning like a mad woman, when my house and space feel ordered I have a much better frame of ...

enjoy every moment from Charm About You

I was thinking about what I've been sewing this week and didn't feel it was much but actually I've been so engrossed in my current project I nearly overlooked it! I did some English Paper Piecing, some appliqué, machine and hand quilting for this months le challenge project... all will be revealed this weekend when the link opens - we always have a giveaway so you should check it out!

I am currently finishing it up by hand sewing down the binding:

I did a little work on my green tea and sweet beans quilt too. I hate ...

Better get on with it...

Inspiring words from my favourite poet. My sewjo tends to fluctuate but when I'm in the zone I have so many ideas I could burst and I just want to play with fabric!

I finished this Day Lily block for my Green Tea and Sweet Beans quilt:

And have had a lot of fun picking fabrics while planning my next couple of blocks. I think creating ...

happy stitching progress from Charm About You

I finished my hexagon panel for the Green Tea and Sweet Beans quilt, I decided to English Paper Piece this panel because I'm faster at it and it is easier to get all those neat points!

I love the totally random (yet lovingly chosen) mix of fabrics:

I also completed all the Orange Peel blocks:

I'm so happy I decided to mix the modern fabrics with the 30s repro ones, I really love how they play together!

stitching and saving from Charm About You

If you didn't know already I am totally addicted to hand sewing and have made more progress on my green tea and sweet beans quilt. These blocks have all been hand pieced (no paper), apart from the odd bit of English Paper Piecing where I chose to change up the design.

My second tulip block:

Rather than use the appliqué shapes in the original pattern (they just look too egg like for me!?!) I decided to do English Paper Pieced shapes for the flowers in the appliqué blocks. So here's my first finished block:

I am working on ...

a good start ~ art, biscuit tins and cleaning routine from Charm About You

Is anyone else experiencing that thrill of the new year and a fresh start? I'm feeling oddly motivated and so ready to make changes. This is a bit of a 'mish mash of stuff' post, I will start with the sewing so you can skip the rest if you're so inclined!

I have been working on my green tea and sweet beans quilt whenever I feel like some 'me time' so over the past few weeks I've finished these blocks:

A churn dash block, Poppie block (I deviated from the pattern and decided to English paper piece ...
