a weekend of quiltiness . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

What a lovely weekend!  It was filled with a lot of quiltiness. For one thing, I've been very diligent about getting in at least fifteen minutes of  'quilting' in each day.  Whether it's hand-work or sewing or shopping or designing or organizing in the Nook ... I've been very successful in hitting my goal and actually exceeding it on most days, which is very exciting to me!

Thursday kicks off my weekend (we work four, ten-hour days), and Thursday evening I did a little more embroidery sketching and then spent some grand time with the girls!
This little ...

hitting re-set . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

My blogging missed all of June ... and a good portion of July.  And would be about 1,000 pictures long if I tried to catch up at this point.  Sometimes you just need a reset.

Welcome to my "re-set" post . . .   Who am I kidding?  I'll try to keep the pics to a minimum.

Life is going well.  Busy, but good.  I'm sleeping better (thanks to the second shoulder surgery I had in February ... which should hit full healing in about seven weeks) which makes such an amazing difference to quality of life!

Got a hair cut this past ...

Postcards for ... from Fleur de Lis Quilts and Accessories

At our last meeting the BRMQG folks talked about making quilt postcards. Maybe they are fabric postcards. Either way, I enjoyed the presentation. There was a lot going on, especially since we passed around a stack of, oh, 50ish.

They were meant to be inspiration. I supposed they were, because the very next day I made these two. They will eventually be mailed (yes, postal service, if you please) to the little granddaughters in Rayne. I have no doubt they will be a hit as anything that arrives through the mail and meant for either one of them is a ...

may day, may day . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

It's been a very busy Spring! I looked up and realized if I didn't post something here, May would go by (along with the bottom two-thirds of April) without a word from me. Heaven forbid!!  ;)

Our guild strives to be active in community-oriented events.  One of those events is Panoply, an annual arts festival held in downtown Huntsville's Big Spring Park.
This year at our booth, we went interactive! We had hexies prepped and ready to baste to engage passersby!
Over the course of Saturday and Sunday, over 200 people, adults and kids alike, basted up a ...

in and out and again . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

I had high hopes for February, but they didn't carry me very far, huh? And then I went and had surgery on my left shoulder yesterday, which means March will be very hit or miss . . .
one day post-op...huge, football-like shoulder pad
the rotator cuff tear, halfway repaired
Because I don't enjoy typing one-handed, and my laptop doesn't auto-correct or do speech-to-text!  LOL!  I know, I know, first world problems!  :)

I purposely scheduled my surgery for the end of February so that I could attend our Stitcher's retreat on the 20th.  What a glorious long weekend ...

christmas ornament swap . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

Greetings!! It's been so CRAZY!  I love this season so very much, but it is time consuming, ya' know?!?

Stephanie, over at The Enchanting Rose, hosted a sweet ornament exchange this year, and I participated in it!  I was gifted to by Deb, a non-blogger, who took some time to get to know me (via my blog) and really found the perfect little ornament for my tree . . .
Isn't that precious?!  A s'more snowman! Just perfect for me!  In addition, she added some fun little happies to go with the ornament:
What a happy package!

I had the ...

the weekend of thanksgiving . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

This is going to be a culmination post ... covering the long weekend which isn't really over, because we get Monday, too -- but that will be for another day's post.

Wednesday was pie and prep day. I love pie and prep day! This year's was particularly good because I found the *best* pecan pie recipe. Pecan Pie is Todd's favorite, and for years I've struggled to find a recipe that felt no-fail and tasted delicious.
This year, thanks to Genius Kitchen and PCrocker, my search is over. I admit that I made a few changes right ...

holiday and hexie prep . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

So, after all the Pick a Pumpkin posts, this was a relatively downright quiet week! At least on the blog.  Nothing doing in real life!

Thursday I spent the day with the girls. It was snowing (?!?!?) when I left the camp, and still flurrying forty minutes later when I arrived at their house, on the other side of the county. And very cold.  So much so that Jason turned on the fireplace! The older girls had asked me to bring three things:  gum, watermelon, and How the Grinch Stole Christmas.  So like any obliging, decent, loving grandmother, I did. Of ...

early darkness . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

Daylight savings time ends tonight!  To that end, this cartoon made me laugh, laugh, laugh!
It's funny ... but it's also very true, no?  Be sure you turn your clocks back ... and enjoy that extra hour of sleep in the morning! It's a little ironic to me that we get that extra hour of sleep on the morning that sun rises an hour earlier.  Why can't we get it right?!  LOL!

The girls were SO cute as the fairies from Sleeping Beauty!
Aren't they just precious?! Of course, they were the tip of the iceberg . . .
Jason ...

five day weekends are da bomb . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

That's right.  I took Thursday and Monday's a holiday, so five day weekend. Bliss!
I've gotten a lot started and finished so far, too! I told you about my idea for an acorn mug rug, right? How that? Concept to actualization! It was a little tricky, but worth the effort. I'll probably make at least one more of these ... maybe two or three!

I was bullied into encouraged to finish the patriotic topper . . .
Really pleased with how this turned out, especially since I did use the pillowcase method to finish it. That's kinda hard to ...

this, that and the cat . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

Our guild's year-end party was quite fun and we had a good crowd!
My offering for our potluck was two dozen mini Gigi's cupcakes.  Served on fine china, of course! Unfortunately, the serving plate only held 23 cupcakes . . .
No telling where that 24th cupcake went. LOL!  It's also at this meeting that the incoming president announces her board:
We're a good looking group of ladies if I do say so myself! I'm on the board as a co-chair of a newly created committee, the QIC.
I'm pretty proud of that logo, too! :) We'll ...

teabloom party for five . . . from Count it *all* JOY!

So, bear with me. Here I am nearly two weeks out from surgery, but still have no use of my right arm/hand. Which means typing is a joy. Not! The easiest way for me to do this was to use my speech to text on my phone, and email it to myself so I could cut and paste it into my blog. LOL!

All in all, though, I'm recovering well and feeling good. Jocelyn and her girls paid me a visit this week and that was such happy medicine! We had a tea party (of course), with a ...
