stash report March 10, 2019 from Making A Lather

I had a flannel day at goodwill. Most of these pieces are at least 5 yards. They will make great backs. I am even wondering if the bottom piece would work as the back for my double wedding ring quilt. They are washed and dried and folded.

stash report February 24, 2019 from Making A Lather

My hubby brought this flower to me yesterday, in the dead of winter. What a welcome surprise. He had brought one of our planters in from the deck and has it wintering over in our basement under a grow light. The marigold has made it so far.

It was time to do something with this stack of fabric from goodwill. I really like the 2 solid pieces on the left. They are grunge fabrics from before there were grunge fabrics. I am guessing the 80s.
I decided I would weigh it to get the yardage, and there was 5 pounds ...

stash report February 3, 2019 from Making A Lather

Just a few finds at the thrift store this week. The plaid on the right is a homespun, and I still have a fondness for homespun. I have a small collection that I am saving for that "special" quilt. tee hee The floral at the top is actually a cat fabric. I am allergic to cats, so that may be the only way I can turn into a crazy old cat lady.

crazy template from Making A Lather

I have all the blocks cut for the scrappy twirl quilt I am making using scrap crazy 6 template.
Here is where I started. It seemed to take forever to cut them and I was glad when I was finished, except now I keep seeing other floral scraps, and think it would look good in the quilt. I need to make this one before I start another one. As far as I can tell, it will have to be pieced in rows. I have several quilts in the process, I don't know, yet, if I will even attempt to ...

it all adds up from The Root Connection

It was little over a year ago when I wrote this post about the good news and the bad news.. My daughter was moving to the bay area and my husband had a new job is San Diego. They both started their new job on the 30th of October. What a year it has been since then!

I made this quilt soon after we moved to San Francisco in 2015. I am not sure if I ever shared this story but it is a good reminder of how life's events make up the life itself and it is never ...

stash report October 14, 2018 from Making A Lather

At our guild quilt show, we had a garage sale area. I purchased several scrap bags, and these fat quarters, and a home made jelly roll.

These 2 1/2 in strips will make a great donation quilt for the vet's home.

stash report October 7, 2018 from Making A Lather

This week I stopped at an estate sale, actually 3. The first sale, I was there early enough to find some fabric, and it was 1/2 price. Most of the mauve and blue fabric was from the 80s and 90s. I have a dresden plate from back then as an ufo. I may need some of this to finish it. There was 15 yards in that bundle. which surprised me, since it looked so little and innocent. 15 yards is a lot of fabric.

I was thrilled with the bright fabrics. It would make a fun baby quilt.

crazy blocks from Making A Lather

I am playing around with a new to use template called crazy 6. I don't have a pattern, and I am trying to see how the colors play, so that I can ultimately make a scrappy quilt. These are not my typical colors, but I was cleaning out a project box and decided that the project with these fabrics was never going to be completed, and rather than try to find a place to sort this, I would just use it up for this experiment. Right now I have all the blocks ready to sew together. I have decided ...

stash report September 30, 2018 from Making A Lather

I found a bundle of fabric at goodwill and thought I saw some goodies in it, so it came home with me.

I have a hanging sleeve to attach by hand today for the quilt show next week. I am ready for some hand stitching.

stash report September 9, 2018 from Making A Lather

I haven't done a stash report in awhile, mostly because too much fabric has come in again. It must have noticed a small space opened up from donating, and wanted to fill in the empty space. Never mind the space was the size of a quarter.

My goodwill has started making bundles of fabric which makes it easier for me, I don't have to scour the linens and bedding for what might be the only piece of fabric in the store.
This week I found a homespun bundle. When I decide whether I want it, I mentally decide ...

project box reveal from Making A Lather

The tomatoes are ready. It was a good year for them. They are tasting really yummy, and the thick core we had last year did not plague us this year. Last year it was too cold and rainy for a bumper crop. This year our big problem is the mosquitoes. My hubby dons a mosquito hazmat suit when He visits the garden.

I found this little quilt at the goodwill this week. It's cute, but, apparently, the quilter didn't want to quilt it. It will be great to finish for a donation quilt.

Since, I needed to put ...

stash report August 19, 2018 from Making A Lather

I found this bundle at goodwill for 3.00. I bought it for the wool piece. I planned to release the others into the wild ( send it back).

I tried the burn test on the wool and it had acrylic in it so I didn't need it. I was able to return it.

I found 4 yards of this flannel for 3.00 as well, and I knew it would make a great back. I even matched it to a quilt waiting to be quilted.
Otherwise, I would feel bad just adding fabric to my stash, after my daughter ...

stash report June 17, 2018 from Making A Lather

There was a $2.00 bundle at goodwill this week. Some of the fabrics went right back to goodwill, but I think I got my money's worth,

I had no idea the pieced blocks were in the bundle - serendipity

I kept 5 yards which about half of the bundle.

I have a great quilt to bind today for my slow stitching that I will show next week.

Stash report April 22, 2018 from Making A Lather

It was an exceptionally rewarding day at goodwill this week for fabric. It has been a long time since I have found anything remotely worth the trip. It was fun, but, it won't look good on my numbers for stash report. There was 6 yards of the top oldie but goodie fabric, 5 yards of the blue and 3 1/2 of shirting plaid.

There was 2 yards of homespun and, of course, Christmas. Altogether, there was 29 1/2 yards. I spent $15.00.

Stash report March 25, 2018 from Making A Lather

A visit to goodwill and I came home with some treasures. I found 2 wool skirts for rug hooking.  The light color I can easily dye any color I want or need for a prroject.

I found some shirting, but really chuckled over a packaged quilt backing. Do you remember paragon? They were the go to place and name for women's crafts. Apparently, that included packaged quilt backings.

This week, I included pictures of sorting through my Christmas stash. One comment from Ruth caught my eye. She mentioned having a panel that goes with one of my fabrics. I ...
