December goals from Espritpatch

Let's try to be realistic. December is always a busy month and I've really not found a new routine that allows me to find much sewing time since we've moved. So it's unlikely that this will be the month for it. Proof is that I'm writing my goals for the month when the first week is already gone... I even wondered whether I'll continue blogging etc but then thought it might help me find a new energy! Anyway rather than "goals" as such, here are some projects I'd really like to progress this ...

August goals from Espritpatch

Does it even make sense to make a list for August? Our house is about to be packed up so ready to cross the Channel and set home in France. I guess my main occupation will be unpacking and setting up everything in our new house. I doubt the sewing corner will the first to be ready but who knows? Anyway, I guess I could have some hand-sewing on the list, as long as I am able to find projects, needle and thread... as well as a little energy!

Quilting

1. Snowflake quilt-along - needs binding -  this will be my One ...

July goals from Espritpatch

Let's face it, this month will be very very busy and I will have little time to sew. I need to finish the end of year presents for sure but I am not sure I will do much more with the big move to get ready for. Wish me luck!

Quilting:

1. Impromptu quilt - I would really like to finish this top and send it for quilting shortly but this will be very difficult

2. Snowflake quilt-along - needs binding

3. Flabellum quilt - I have sent it away for quilting so maybe I can add the binding when it is ...

June goals from Espritpatch

This month, what I'd really like to do is finished a few items and get a head start on the teachers'/leaving presents for July. I have for once written a rather focused list (at least to my standards!) thinking this might be the key.... Let's hope that works out otherwise I will for sure run out of time...

Quilting:

1. Modern HST triangles - now that the top is finished, it needs quilting and I'd like this one to be ready as a gift by the end of July- this will be my One monthly goal

2 ...

Q2 FAL from Espritpatch

A new quarter, full of hopes for the spring... hope that some of our freedom will return, hope that the weather will improve and give me some energy, hope that I will finish all the projects on my list, hope that we will finally be able to cross the Channel and visit family? I think this quarter will be very busy too with "life" so I am not sure how much I will get through really but let's try!

Quilts:
1. Modern HST triangles -  I have 23 blocks completed and not enough background fabric to make the 24th block ...

I am starting to wonder whether it makes sense to even make a list... I have managed so little sewing in the last 4-6 weeks that it almost feels useless... Who knows, maybe I will finally get a bounce of energy to help pick up a project (or two) and get going...

Quilting:

1. Super Mario quilt - need quilting!
2. Halo quilt sew along - I need to cut the arcs to be able to continue
3.

2020 hindsight – my year in review from Stitch and Yarn

Over the festive season I participated in Ruth Singer's 'Gentle Goal Setting' for 2021. Truth be told, I'm still doing it. I was looking for a way to reflect on the momentous year just gone and plan for the year ahead – a process that would focus on my practice and what I want to learn and experience rather than numbers of social media followers, my marketing strategy or giving myself sales targets.

Wanting to be present with family over Christmas (or as best as I could, after months of isolation) and then having a rather large work contract ...

2021 Q1 FAL from Espritpatch

The Finish-Along is back and I am really happy about it. I think I missed it last quarter. Even though I always end up with a far too long list that I have no hope of achieving in said quarter.. Anyway I should really try to focus on a few makes but then I never know which will pick my fancy and I have so many UFOs!

Quilts:
1. Modern HST triangles -  I have 23 blocks completed and not enough background fabric to make the 24th block from the pattern. I should decide what to do with these. Either finish ...

PhD in 2021? from Espritpatch

2021 could be the year to get my UFO under control? I think I need some help so I will be joining Quilting Gail on her quest to PhD in 2021

I have far more than 12 UFOs sadly (more like 30+), but the 12 I would like to finish in 2021 are:

1. Retro Tetro (started 2020) - I need to finish sewing the binding and bury the gazillions of threads
2. Snowflake (started 2020) - this one needs quilting
3. Super Mario quilt (started 2012) - this one needs a few more blocks
4. Halo quilt (started 2020)- blocks are not ...

2021 Planning Party from Espritpatch

Planning?? Really?? Is that still possible in the unpredictable world we live in at the moment. Or maybe planning is actually what will keep us/me sane. To be honest, we do have big projects (as a family) for 2021 but more on that later, hoping that they will happen and we can then share.

Yvonne's Planning Party is on once more. I participated the last 2 years but I am not sure how well I have fared really. Maybe because I had too many projects and I am always tempted by more. So I should try and focus ...

October goals from Espritpatch

There will be new beginnings this month for me since I am starting a new work adventure. I am sure sewing will much more restricted while I find my feet but hopefully I will be able to get a little done in the evenings to relax. There are a few new projects I would really like to get going with and some I'd like to finish too. I have tried a much smaller list this month to try and keep focused! Let's see if that works.

Quilting:

1. Threadology quilt along - needs binding

2. Super Mario quit - 7 ...

Q3 FAL from Espritpatch

Although the summer "holidays" are going to start soon, I am not sure whether they will feel like a holiday.... Today is supposed to be the last school day for the kids and I should have been spending the last week frantically finishing gifts for the teachers. Apart that school has been suspended since March... They'll have 6 weeks off and we will have 2 with them trying to think about something else. My long list will stay very long but I really don't know how much time/energy/desire to sew I will have in the next ...

July goals from Espritpatch

I can't quite believe I wrote July in the title of this post, I can't quite believe we are half way through 2020. What a year it has turned out to be, such unexpected path for everyone. Let's hope the second half is somehow more "normal" and positive than the first. It will soon be summer holidays and I should be rushing to make teacher's presents, apart that the kids are not at school and won't be until September. We are hoping that we will finally be able to cross the Channel soon but there ...

June goals from Espritpatch

Time seems to be going equally slow and fast at the moment. It is over 10 weeks since our life has moved into a new rhythm with the lockdown and it seems it was years ago. But at the same time, it feels that days flew by... Today is supposed to be the first day of the last term for the kids but so far, they are all still home schooled until we hear more, and most likely until the summer holidays. Of course, with all this time at home and all of us here all the time, I spend ...

May goals from Espritpatch

It looks like May will mostly be spent at home again, with all of us at all at all time.... which should give plenty of free time for sewing. However it is sometimes difficult to find any energy to do anything. Never mind, I've got a lot of projects to choose from!

Quilting:
1. Dear Jane - finish row E

2. HST modern sampler quilt - make the last block and finish the top
3. Farmer's Wife 1920 - make some blocks
4. Farmer's Wife 1930 - make some blocks
5. Threadology quilt along - quilt the top

6. Scientific Adventure Quilt ...

Q2 FAL from Espritpatch

I can't believe one third of this new year is over, and what a start. Who would have believed a few weeks back that we would be in this situation, all at home, all the time to avoid spreading this awful virus. Of course, the current situation means that I have more (free) time. Whether I have the energy to use it creatively or constructively is another question. Sometimes it just feel so strange/overwhelming/futile that I just "waste" the free time I am craving at all other times in my life. How bizzare?! Anyway, to make sure ...
