The Bird Dress from Becca's Crazy Projects

I follow Cal Patch on Instagram and her sewing adventures are always a pleasure. Last week she shared her version of the Bird Dress and I was intrigued.

I've been collecting worn t-shirts for a while so this was the perfect project because it is designed to use those tees to make a color-blocked garment. Sadly, I took only one progress shot, this one before I attached the pockets to the front.

I made this using two black, two blue, and one maroon tee.

One of those had some words on the front that are now on the back ...

Don't Blink Poncho #2 from Becca's Crazy Projects

I recently shared my first Don't Blink Poncho. After looking at it for a week, I decided I needed to make another so at least some of the wording would be right-side up.

While the fabric has that tossed/scrambled look, I think it looks better on this one than the last.

Here they are side-by-side. The left is the first one I made (I think the words look upside down). The right is the second one (I think the words look right-side up). Now I have to figure out what to do with one of them. I certainly ...

Don't Blink Poncho from Becca's Crazy Projects

Continuing to work on projects that I have just waiting I decided to make a poncho using this fun Doctor Who fabric I bought on sale last year. A print this size deserves to be something big that doesn't chop up the print.

The first thing I had to do was clean off some of this workspace. Cutting fabric for quilting isn't difficult with less space, but when it comes to cutting fleece for garment sewing I need room and less clutter.

Afterwards there was space to work and and think. Sometimes the clutter gets in the way ...

Witchy! from Becca's Crazy Projects

When Sew Desu Ne? released this witch hat pattern last month I had to buy it.

I went to the big box fabric store to pick up the materials for my witch had and came home with so much more. All those sales paid off, though. I walked out spending only $30.

This foam was in the remnants bin and just want I wanted to make my hat.

The Halloween costume fabrics were on sale and this fabric just screamed witch/wizard hat to me.

I was concerned I was making it too small, but it turned out just right ...

Quest for Pockets from Becca's Crazy Projects

I've been known to say "what people really want is pocket equality." What is pocket equality? There are more than a few articles written about pocket inequality. Here is one that shows sizes and compares the pockets in women's and men's pants. It is interesting, and somewhat baffling, why there is so much disparity. What I do about it is carry a purse that fits all the things I want/need to carry. Most of the time it is way more stuff than I really want to carry, but I don't carry a handbag every day ...
