Working Ground and Candy Corn Banner... from May Your Bobbin Always Be Full

No stitching for me this week...

No gentle hum of a sewing machine...

I hear the roar of a tractor engine !

It's that time of year,

we are working up the hay fields:

The Cowboy has the disc

hooked up to the John Deere

for me to take it for a spin !

The Cowboy just rebuilt the disc and we

want to see just how good it cuts through the sod...

Day 2 the John Deere has a flat tire:

The Cowboy hooks the disk up to my

little red International tractor...

Day 3  I finished the field,

the ...

DIY Phone Stands... from May Your Bobbin Always Be Full

This is a super quick stitching project...

iPhone Stands...

I don't even have an iPhone...

we don't have cell service where we live.

But, several of my friends and family do...

so I made a few to give as gifts.

They require a small piece of fabric,

so I pawed through my scrap basket...

I lined them with fusible interfacing...

The bottom half is filled with plastic pellets...

The top half is stuffing.

I made a larger one to support an ipad...

I don't have an ipad either.

There are oodles of You Tube video tutorials

to ...

Amusing from Quilting with Kimberly

A friend shared the following with me recently and I thought it was too good not to share.

These glorious insults are from an era “before” the English language got boiled down to 4-letter words. Enjoy!

“He had delusions of adequacy.”  — Walter Kerr

“He has all the virtues I dislike and none of the vices I admire.”   Winston Churchill

“I have never killed a man, but I have read many obituaries with great pleasure.” — Clarence Darrow

“He has never been known to use a word that might send a reader to the dictionary.” — William Faulkner (about Ernest Hemingway)

 “Thank you ...

Bon Jour! Plus, a give-away from Quilting with Kimberly

Bon Jour!

A few weeks ago you may have seen a short little video I posted on Social Media about a new line of fabrics from Timeless Treasures called Bon Jour! I paired those pretty prints with several of my Solid-ish fabrics to create a “curated collection.”

Miss Tater graciously decided to “model” the fabrics.

At the time, I promised to show you the project I had planned for those scrumptious fabrics.

“Maraschino” from my Solid-ish line goes particularly well with Bon Jour…

…as do Mist, Stone and Black (shown from left to right next to Tater, above.)

I’m ...

Happy Valentines......Pot Holders from May Your Bobbin Always Be Full

Happy Valentines...

Heart Shaped Potholders

My potholders and trivets in the kitchen
are looking a bit worn out and sad
so I decided to make a few new ones...

Of course, I had to throw in lots of
machine quilting.....my favorite activity !

This is the back side.

I had a few yellow and blue 10 inch squares
left over from previous projects,
they were the perfect size...

I used Pellon Insul Fleece
to insulate the potholders
and keep the heat away from my hands
when I use these in the kitchen...

I also added 1 layer of cotton batting ...

Having Some Fun Safely Social from From My Carolina Home

Finding ways to have some fun these days is more of a challenge. When you cannot have sew days with friends at home, or retreats in lovely Victorian homes over a weekend, then next best thing is a sew day at home with friends attending online. The wonderful thing is this would not be possible without the internet. Eight of us attended an all day sewing marathon last Saturday from all over the US and Canada! Three of us live in North Carolina, but we don’t live near enough to be in the same guild. Then we had four ...

Come quilt the SEASONS with me! from Quilting with Kimberly

I’m thrilled to introduce my newest quilt, SEASONS, to you!

Designed and sewn by Kimberly Einmo. Machine quilted by Lisa Calle.

This cheery quilt has been in the making for almost two years! I spent a lot of time working on the design of this quilt and then actually sewing it; but I couldn’t share much of my progress with you except for occasional “sneak peeks.” To finally be able to unveil this quilt to you is something I’ve dreamed of for the longest time!

SEASONS will be featured as the 2021 series quilt in American Quilter ...

New friends from Quilting with Kimberly

Our family has grown again.

As hard as it was to lose our beloved little Dodger, we knew we would adopt a kitten again.  Everyone felt the void left when Dodger passed away; most especially Cheeto. The foster moms at A Pawsitive Approach were so helpful and understanding about our desire to find the right kitten to join our family. We visited several foster parents and their foster kittens but it wasn’t until we visited with Teresa and Sherrie (Dodger’s sweet foster Mama) that we found the perfect new addition.

Meet Remy.

We brought Remy home because he ...

The cozy time of year from Quilting with Kimberly

The sunset on November 1st was particularly glorious and captured the beauty and fiery colors of autumn.

Last night, the clocks turned back one hour. For the next two months, the days will grow shorter and twilight will come sooner each evening.

I always look forward to this time of year with great anticipation. Why? Because of something the Danish call “Hygge.” The word Hygge (pronounced “hoo-gah”) is usually translated as “cozy” or a sense of “coziness”. It’s much more than warm lighting and flickering candles. Hygge is also a mindset or the purposeful practice of relaxation and being ...

Paisley Quilt from The Quilt Ladies Book Collection

I love paisley fabric and this is my vacation quilt.
I used a very different palette of colors and patterns, it's just fun.
Before the move this is the quilt that I put away here at the condo. Some times, it's nice to cuddle in a quilt no matter what the temperature is outside.
It's a very simple pattern, a 2 inch center square and then just log cabin around the outside with 1 inch strips.

The finished size is a square 50" x 50" a good size for curling up on the couch. I used a ...
