Birthday Cushion for Dot from Romany Quilting

It was our friend Dot’s 75th Birthday today and a several of us were meeting her for a birthday lunch.  Now, where was that parcel I had wrapped and carefully put away?

All wrapped up and ready for gifting

We met in a local café, four of us.  Dot as the guest of honour, Thelma, Annette and myself.  Sadly,I forgot to get a group photo of us all.  Here is the birthday girl with her goodies.  Dot was a little overwhelmed but as I said to her, turning 75 is certainly something to celebrate!

“Sharing the Process” - Part 4 from A Prim and (not so) Proper Quilter

Just a bit more progress.

I reported in the last progress update that I used scraps from the project to make a decorative border for the center panel.  It took some tweaking, but I’m very happy with it. I had so much fun making these strips that I’m thinking of making a quilt with nothing but these.  Another retirement project!

I played with the placement of blocks around the center panel.  Once I was happy, I left it all on the design wall to marinate.

A couple of weeks later I thought, “what if the center panel wasn ...

Rainbow Scrap Challenge, and Anniversary from Romany Quilting

Another RSC top done, using some of the flag blocks I misplaced and then found again.  This joins two other RSC tops I made from four patch blocks, which I had completed a month or so ago.  So that’s three RSC tops ready and waiting to be quilted!  I found this picture on the internet somewhere or other, and decided it was a pretty way to assemble some of my flag blocks, in pink, pale blue, yellow and purple.  I substituted plain squares for the corner flag blocks, and framed each block.

The blocks were assembled, and I finished ...

A Day To Myself from Quilting My Way

Patrick went golfing and I ended up having most of the day to myself. Trouble was, things needed to be cleaned. So, I ended up vacuuming, mopping, cleaning litter, and laundry. It did take time but I was glad ot be able to just sit down and play games.

Debbie stopped by to get some fabric because she cut hers wrong. We had plenty of that fabric. It was good to see her. She brought me some information on our veterans, so I have what I need.

Mom called to say Nancy is having trouble talking. She's trying to ...

Trip To Olympia - Yet Again from Quilting My Way

This morning we headed to the museum to collect a quilt for our state coordinator. Then we headed up to Olympia to meet with the Stars and Strips QOV group. They were doing a remembrance for Bill Tate. We arrived a little after they started to eat. I took some cookies for them. Patrick was a sweet heart and took me up there. Then I was able to visit with Linda and Judy. It was so good to talk to them. They were asking about Faye. Guess they knew more than me. I visited with Sharon as well. She gave ...

Lucky Me! from Romany Quilting

How about this for a wonderful birthday gift!  A box full of wonderful hand spun wool from my old school friend Merilyn.

P1000668

This  arrived by courier

I had a birthday telephone call from Merilyn the other day and she told me that she hadn't been able to find a suitable Jenny gift so far to send for me.  Then she went on to relate that she was busy spinning and plying double knit wool.  I like to use double knit wool together with 4ply sock yarn to knit my thick socks, I mentioned.  And so the perfect Jenny gift ...

Little makes from A Prim and (not so) Proper Quilter

Events pop up and I am often inspired to make something and have little time to meet my deadlines. And two of the events were in August.

First, Cindy celebrated an important birthday.  I had no idea what to do for her until the day before her birthday.  She recently purchased her first serger—a Bernette Funlock 64.  I made a serger mat with threadcatcher.  The pattern is from allpeoplequilt.com:

I took no photos.  Again, one of those lost in the moment times. But I FaceTimed with Cindy this weekend and asked her to take ...

Pictured from left to right: Kathi Slee, QLD Sales Educator, Melissa Wilkes, Sales Educator, and Peter Kross.

During our recent trip to Bribane and Surfer’s Paradise in Queensland, we had the wonderful experience to meet some terrific new friends! Kent and I were invited by Peter Kross, Janome QLD State Manager, to visit the Janome headquarters in Brisbane and we were incredibly honored! We spent a few hours with Peter and his amazing team, and they were gracious and so very generous with their time (and some amazing Janome swag, that I plan to gift forward to some Janome-America ...

Working On Moms Quilt from Quilting My Way

This morning I was out the door before getting breakfast. Not supposed to do that! lol I headed to Sandy's to give her sister Jeannette a Birthday card before she headed back to Canada. She was leaving shortly after I left. We had a good chat and enjoyed visiting. I would have gone over sooner but they went to Packwood over the weekend.

My next stop was to visit with Judy Hensley. She's a QOV member at my old group - Stars and Stripes in Olympia. I love it when I can visit with her. I gave her the ...

It Feels Like A Monday! from Quilting My Way

This morning I was up with Patrick. He headed out to go golfing and I was being lazy. Then I realized it was Tuesday and had a few things I needed to do today.

First off was going to the bank, off to the post office, then Staples and the bowling alley. Once all that was done, I was off to Love's gas station for gas. That put me into 1 pm. I decided to swing by Burger King and pick up a burger. Even though I knew we were having that tonight for supper. (Homemade)

Came home and ...

A holiday and more from Quilting with Kimberly

You may have noticed I haven’t been posting much on social media in the past couple of weeks, except for a few shared items (forwards) from other pages, and information about my latest DONE BEFORE DINNER PROJECT. (Be sure not to miss this one, we had lots of fun filming in the studio and this recycled grocery tote is cute and really useful!)

Some folks noticed my absence and I was tickled to receive notes and emails from those who told me they missed seeing the Roo videos. The truth is, Mr. Kim and I went on ...

Day 4 Of A Busy Week from Quilting My Way

This morning I was up and just about ready to leave, when Connie called to tell me she had to take her daughter to the chiropractor.  So, I was ready to take the day off.....we all know how my plans work out. Connie said she would be by my house around 11:30 to early afternoon. Okay, now I have to wait. Everyone I know knows how I take waiting! I wanted to start something, but what? If I did what would I do? Oh, heck, just play games!

I did clean the cat box. Then I got a ...

Organizing Fabric! from Quilting My Way

All that fabric we received from Hope Grange was going to be organized. I was waiting on Debbie and Nancy. Around 10 am I got a message from Debbie that she had an emergency to go to her cousin's care center. She would be coming as soon as she could. I was home all day so that wasn't a worry. I waited and around 10:15 am Nancy texted to say she couldn't make it. Her door man was coming and her son would be coming as well. So, she can't make it. I said that ...

“Sharing the Process” - Part 3 from A Prim and (not so) Proper Quilter

Quality time was spent on this project during my July vacation and over a couple of weekends.

I’m an overthinker and need to let things stew a bit.  It slows me down, but that’s how I roll.  I mentioned in my last update that I had reworked the layout in Electric Quilt, and I still think that works. I’m really liking what I see on the design wall.

I have added borders to each of the exchanged blocks and will cut them to a uniform size:

I have squared up the center panel:

What has changed from ...

Reject's Retreat 2022 Part 1 from Mama Spark's World

It's that time again.  Time to head out to Kansas City for the annual Reject's Retreat.  This year my friend, Kailie was joining us.  She and I decided to drive from MI to MO.  Hubby mapped out several quilt shops for us to stop at along the way as we progressed.  He even put the times they opened up for us.  We started at Shipshewana.  Kailie had not ever been there.  First stop was Yoders and
