A Happy Week of Sewing from Life in the Scrapatch

My first foundation pieced block in a few years.

I started this quilt Here.
and I am really enjoying fussy cutting and sewing these blocks.

This is

I bought a kit for this pattern about four years ago and never got to it.
I am happy that I am finally getting to it.

I felt all thumbs for the first few minutes,
but my foundation paper piecing skills came back
like riding a horse.
I feel achy and accomplished now.
I am pleased with myself for getting back in the saddle.

My FPP Tutorial may be ...

Spring Fling quilt from Charm About You

spring fling quilt by Lucy Brennan | Charm About You

I'm so lucky that I get to have SO MUCH FUN creating designs with bright and beautiful fabric. For this quilt I picked out prints from Zuma by Tula Pink and a range of colours from Tula Pink solids.  A classic block in the centre and medallion style borders made with a mix of regular machine piecing and foundation paper piecing, make for a modern and dynamic quilt. My Spring Fling quilt pattern is in Issue 71 of Love Patchwork & Quilting - out now!

The detail in the prints is just amazing, there's so many that I thought were ...

I bought a kit for this pattern about four years ago and never got to it.

If you have never done FPP before this might be a good beginners pattern,
as the pieces are fairly large for FPP pieces.

It is also a good pattern to showcase large prints.

Fabric Pandemonium from Life in the Scrapatch

Pink Pandemonium
I asked my hubby for a word to caption this photo using the word color,
and he said "Pink Pandemonium."
Good choice,
so I am using a variation of it in my post title, too.

I did point out to him that there are a lot more colors than pink here.
The blues on the top are my background fabrics,
intended to cool down the palette.

These fabrics are my stash pull for the

January Happenings from Mama Spark's World

This must be the year of the babies!  For real you guys.   I can't even believe how many baby related things I am going to be making this year already  and it's what? January 4?   C'mon you guys, haha. For every new baby that is in our family and close circle of friends, I make a chenille blanket.  Usually I gift this at the baby shower (if it is the first baby) otherwise after the baby

holiday spirited elves from easypatchwork

Hi everyone, Here is a quick note to say, yes. I am still here, alive and kicking. I have been totally in my design element designing all kinds of foundation paper piecing dolls. After I made the Paper Dolls -  Mini Collection and Winnie the Witch, I just couldn't stop and designed the Spirited Elves. This is probably the biggest collection I have designed so far too with sew many possibilities.

Imbryczki from Szycie Uli

It took me definitely too much time to finish that small tablecloth but I'm happy that I haven't gave up. I love the way it looks - it's perfectly ...

This block is a stand alone foundation paper pieced block (FPP) or can be mixed and matched with the Paper Dolls Mini Collection for

paper dolls pattern from easypatchwork

Hi Everyone! Thanks for joining today and reading my blog. I truly appreciate your curiosity and your support.  A couple of years ago, I came across a foundation paper pieced pattern (FPP) from Mary McGuire featured in Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks. I loved the block so much, I redrew it in EQ8 and asked my bee mates to make blocks for a bee quilt. I was quite happy with the result. There

WIPs With Friends from Mama Spark's World

I hope you all had a good weekend.   It was amazingly HOT here in Michigan.   We almost never get 96 degrees in the SPRING!   CrAzY.   I wanted to do some yard work but that just did not happen.   I tried for a bit on Monday.   I dug out some grass from a small part of my garden, planted some tomato and pepper plants  and a couple of planters and called it a day.   PHEW! Instead I

forest mountain quilt & more... from Charm About You

Time for a catch up... I have been busy making and it would be wrong not to document everything here. This is a round up of some of the recent projects I've demonstrated on Sewing Quarter, I'm starting small and working up to the big quilts!

This block was made using Jo Avery's fabulous Compass Spin pattern, a combination of foundation paper piecing and sewing curves. It's a great project for playing with fabric value.
