I ordered a new hunters star accuquilt die during the holidays. I decided for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy, I would cut 20 of each color this year, and maybe, sew them next year. I have plenty of projects this year, ( and every future year of my life ), so it seemed prudent to just cut while the scraps are out and available. However, they have been mocking me as they sit in their little container. Just one, they say. What if you can't do it, they say. Well...I can, and I like making them. I will ...
read moreMy last red project for the month and the rainbow scrap challenge are the blocks I am doing called star and crown. I am doing these blocks as a technique block to see if I can get everything a little more precise. I think I did do better, by slowing down and making sure I redid it if I didn't like it.
I wonder what color February will be.

We have spent the last few days cooking turkey. We decided to smoke one this year. I decided that if the price didn't drop below the price of a chicken, I wasn't going to buy it. We aren't having anyone for thanksgiving, so I would only buy one for the freezer. The price was good so Mr. Turkey is all safely gathered in for the winter. We have already had "leftovers" - sandwhiches - and soon, noodles. yum. I miss family thanksgiving dinners.

read moreHubbly and I attended a small quilt show in Indy Saturday, It was a great little trip that put us in Indy. It has been awhile since we have been to the "big" city and it was a bit overwhelming. The traffic and massively growing areas were surprising. We hardly recognized the place.
We stopped at a quilt store that I enjoy, and I was sad to see the cost of fabric has really increased. There was no shortage of options, and the store was busy. Now that we are retired, we avoid most places on the weekend, so it ...
read moreI am still trying to work out a workflow for the leader ender project from quiltville - go fish. It seems difficult to isolate what part is leader/ender. I guess there are just several stops along the way that can be used that way. If I used sewing the hsts as the leader/ ender, I would never sew enough for a quilt.
First, I cut strips from scraps that are 2 1/2 x 9 1/2. I can get all the hsts for 2 from that piece later. I have cut a few by color with the rainbow scrap ...

I have more fish finished as a leader/ender. I don't know how I want to arrange them in a quilt. Right now, I like this one best.
It's time for me to plan the week and assess how I have done on my goals. I have 5 quilts I am focusing on right now. I try to work on one task for each quilt at a time working through all five before moving on to the next set of tasks.
1.checkered past -The next step was to make 40 sashings. I sewed 1 1/2 inch creams to 1 1/2 inch shirt strips on the treadle. I pressed and subcut them to the size of the block. tada

I really believe my creative process has helped me throughout my life to provide for my family and to give me the confidence I needed to face struggles. I am so grateful for great role models and teachers. I love learning new skills and information. It makes life an adventure. I hope you all get your sew on or whatever you enjoy doing.
I have the last sections of sea swept together. I can start to see it as a quilt. I need to join sections and see what it looks like in my fabrics. I am very excited.
I have a new infusion of scrap triangles to work with in the future. My Friday group donated these lovely scraps to me and there are many aqua and teals in the bunch. That will have to do this week for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy.

The bag on the right is from my Linda friend's sea swept quilt which is done, which I quilted last week, while I am still piecing mine.
Otherwise, I am making little bits as I get bored with the bigger bits of piecing.
