Whispering Pines Sidelights Quilt :: A Finish from Alamosa Quilter

My long arm quilter takes a break every December so I am trying to get some things quilted before December. I even broke my personal rule of not taking her anything to quilt for me until I get all of the previous batch of quilts finished.

This one was a shop sample for the fabric collection Whispering Pines and the Sidelights pattern. I am completely out of the Whispering Pines collection in the regular width fabrics but I still have a little of the 108" wide back from the Whispering Pines collection.

one monthly goal finish from Making A Lather

This cute donation quilt is finished. I bought this as a kit a few years ago. I thought it would make a cute boy donation quilt. This is my one monthly goal for November too.

I had it to the top stage here  at the beginning of the month and now it is finished. I really like the fabric.

I hand sewed the binding  and sprinkled stars in the quilting

Our guild's annual donation night was Tuesday and we had many quilts turned in and were given to the police department and family services.

Block Talk Golf Version :: A Finish from Alamosa Quilter

Block Talk Golf Version

I used two of the Golf themed Itsy Bitsy panels and the Block Talk pattern for this quilt. One of the panels was used for the center blocks and the second was used for the border. The framing fabrics I used are a black print, a gray print and a white print and the accent fabric is a grass print which I also used for the binding.

lightening string quilt finish from Making A Lather

I have a fun quilt finish. I saw this quilt awhile ago on Bonnie Hunter's site as she was working on it. At the time she called it crazy town.

I had a basket or two of strings, and it looked fun. I had the blocks ready to go soon enough.  I called it lightening.  I had the top ready, but, didn't finish it to see what Bonnie was going to do with it.

12 yards of fabric

I began in the Spring of 2019 and it is 72 x 80. I used a blue sheet for the ...

rainbow quilt finish from Making A Lather

I took 2 years of sewing with the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy to make the pieces for this single  Irish chain by melissa correy. I made the 4 patches in 2019, and the sashings in 2020 according to the color of the month. The top was a top in  November 2020. It was an easy, unstressful pattern, and then, it was a great quilt.

I used a light gray sheet for the back, and natural white thread. I made a scrappy binding and attached it by machine. I used a paisley pantograph for the quilting. It's 84 ...

2021 Ornaments :: A Finish from Alamosa Quilter

My ornaments for this year are done!

2021 Ornaments

2021 Ornaments

I completed two sets of these adorable felted wool ornaments. I had a bag full of these little wooden "handmade" tags so I add one to the back of each ornament.

2021 Ornaments label

I wrote my initials and the year on each little wooden tag before sewing it to the back.

Ms. Spooky Boo is not impressed.

2021 October Spooky Boo

This is how she likes to lay on me now. Her paws are right at the base of my neck. It's really hard to sew anything with a cat sitting on your chest! Being photographed was not ...

ode to joey quilt finish from Making A Lather

I have an actual finish this week. My ode to Joey quilt is almost ready for the quilt show the first of October. I just need to make a label. I have worked on this quilt for almost three years. First, I made the words by color for the rainbow scrap challenge at so scrappy in 2019. And then, I have slowly been sewing it together. I began this as a way to heal a broken heart, and it has become very meaningful to me.

80x85 = about 20 yards of fabric

I used a wide flannel back and a scrappy ...

aunt eliza star finish from Making A Lather

This quilt is finished and will find a home on our bed. I really like it. I like the crumb centers for the blocks, and the scrappy star points. I used a vintage fabric for the border, and I love gingham. It is a winning combination for me. I started making this on our Christmas trip to Florida in 2015

24 yards of fabric - 82 x 92

I used a wide back from Joann and free motion hooked curves

I started sewing at camp at disney.

sheep pillow from Making A Lather

This is  an old rug hooking/ needle punch project that I have not finished. I took it with me to rug hooking along with my featherweight, and sewed it into a pillow. I used a pillow form from Goodwill for the stuffing. Besides the cute sheep, I liked the project  since it was hooked on a wool fabric instead of a typical rug hooking backing. Before I start a new rug project, I am trying to empty the unfinished drawer. I still have 2 or 3 bigger projects in the drawer to finish.

I like that is a two sided ...

sheep bag from Making A Lather

My finishes for this week, are my attempt to finish rug hooking ufos, which have accumulated just like quilt ufos. This is one of the first rug hooking projects I made in 2010. I didn't even know how to finish anything yet, so I didn't finish it. It has been sitting waiting patiently. I decided to make a zippered bag. When I sewed the bag pieces to the hooked piece, I could only get so close, so I needed to hook another row.

I made the bag at a retreat using the tutorial at noodlehead

I cut the ...

zuckerwatte quilt finish from Making A Lather

I have a finish -bonnie Hunter quilt zuckerwatte from her book string fling. It is a smaller quilt than I thought when I started it. It is about 58 x 70. I started working on this ufo in January at a retreat, I had started at the beginning of January with only string blocks made. I made the string blocks in June 2017. I cut a gazillion  HSTS - (half square triangles)... sewed a bunch together, and made  rows. and blocks. It is really pretty in person.

I used a plain pink sheet for the backing that I had in my ...

Best Friends QAL, the first one is complete from Jan's Quilts

Boy, photographing a queen-size quilt is a challenge.  I finally hung it from the rain gutter, above the garage door.  I really love how this turned out.  It's a housewarming gift for a great couple.

I had 6 quilts to put the binding on and this is #5, only one more to go, and it's another Best Friends quilt.

The Froggy-Girl Quilt is Complete! from Jan's Quilts

One of my cousins, actually one of my cousins' granddaughters, loves frogs. She's 40 years old and legally blind. She has very limited vision; she started losing her vision at 3 years old. She's a trained chef and loves photography. She works as a nanny. And she's one of my favorite people.

When I cut out the frogs from the Tula Pink fabric, I didn't have enough, so I threw in some owls! The quilt top measures 48 inches square.

The Sparkling Patchwork Quilt is complete from Jan's Quilts

I really love how this Sparkling Patchwork Quilt turned out.  It's hot and the sun is very bright today, so the colors look a bit faded.  That blue is Kona Windsor Blue, one of my favorites.

You can read how I made this quilt from this post.  For the quilt back, I used the leftover striped fabric, since I hadn't used any on the front of the quilt.

This shows my new favorite panto, Dragonflies!  And below was my attempt at an "arty" photo!

The Lattice Quilt is complete and I'm a dork. This one is going to my daughter Carrie in N.C., and I was getting it ready to mail; the box was taped shut, then I realized I hadn't taken any photos!  Must take photos!

For the quilt back I used the left-overs from the layer-cake.  The quilt measures 48" x 57".
