Fiber Tuesday 127 from The Quilting Room with Mel

Welcome back to Fiber Tuesday!  How was everyone's week?  My body doesn't realize it is still summer.  I don't mind a cold when it's cold outside and I want to be curled up under a quilt and drink hot tea.  Instead, it's hot outside and my nose is running like it's late for a very important date.

Rainbow Scrap Challenge--September--Orange from TheEclecticAbuela

A new month--a new color. I enjoyed the neutral month; I used neutrals in several different projects. Now--on to orange (Just about the exact opposite of neutral!).

I'm continuing with the string blocks using the month's color. Here is a sampling of the orange blocks.

I'm looking forward to seeing how this quilt comes together!

I'm linking with Scrap Happy Saturday--Hurricane EditionOh Scrap!, and Fiber Tuesday 126 at the Quilting Room with Mel. Stay safe, everyone.

Welcome back to Fiber Tuesday!  How was everyone's week?  I hope everyone is staying safe from all the natural disasters.  Too many bad things are happening in the world around us and I'm thankful to escape to my fabric and all of your blogs.  If you are one dealing with one of the disasters I hope we can be a small bright spot in your life.  You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Fiber Tuesday 124 from The Quilting Room with Mel

Welcome back to Fiber Tuesday!  How was everyone's week?  Is it fall break yet?  I thought I was on the ball but it turns out going back to work full time is exhausting.  I wasn't able to get anything published.  I was able to go to work, come home feed us, and zone out in my chair until I could go to bed just to repeat it all the next day.  This week is looking promising for being back on track though.

Welcome back to Fiber Tuesday!  How was everyone's week?  I know many of you are from Texas.  I hope you all are safe and sound.  When you have a minute please let us know.  I have been through flooding, even had a wedding during our last 100 years flood, but we've never had the amount of rain that the Houston area has had.  Our entire year total of rain fall is 33" of rain and I saw some areas have already had 39".

Fiber Tuesday 123 from The Quilting Room with Mel

Welcome back to Fiber Tuesday!  How was everyone's week?  This weekend was an odd one around here.  Paul did more sewing than I did.  It's one of those, only so much time in a day things.  In order to design I can't sew so he did my sewing while I spent time sketching out new projects.  Having him sew is better than teaching him how to use all of my programs.  Plus if he can understand what I want then I know the project directions are clear and easy to understand.

Welcome back to Fiber Tuesday!  How was everyone's week? I can't believe that we are in August already!  This summer has flown by and I am having a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that I need to get my fall sewing done and start on Christmas projects.  The weather this week is really cool for August here in Kansas so that is helping get my mind around that.  Have you started planning for the holidays yet?

Sapphire Stars--Clue 2 from TheEclecticAbuela

I have finished the second clue of Kevin the Quilter's Sapphire Stars Mystery.

Here is a picture of a sampling of Clue 1 and Clue 2--I look forward to seeing what comes next!

As you can see, mine is Ruby Stars rather than Sapphire!

Thanks, Kevin, for the fun.

Welcome back to Fiber Tuesday!  How was everyone's week? This week hasn't produced much news.  I got a new phone and am waiting for the case to get here so that I can use it to film.  I don't like using the phone for much more than photos until it is protected well.  The photo quality is amazing on the iPhone 7 so I'm looking forward to see how well it videos.

Fiber Tuesday 120 from The Quilting Room with Mel

Welcome back to Fiber Tuesday!  How was everyone's week? I took some time off this weekend.  I was getting a little overwhelmed and had forgotten all about my self care.  You would think after writing that post I would be doing better.  It was great to wake up this morning ready to help quilters and vintage sewing machine fans.

Fiber Tuesday 119 from The Quilting Room with Mel

Welcome back to Fiber Tuesday!  How was everyone's week? Nothing to exciting has been going on here.  Just a lot of time with our machines working on things for the blog.  Paul did get a new work bench for the basement.  We found a huge desk at a local second hand store for $5.  It was to big to fit in the car so he borrowed his dad's truck and trailer to bring it home.  I was shocked when he got it home and realized it was solid wood not press board or MDF.  It will be a ...

Welcome back to Fiber Tuesday!  How was everyone's week?  I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend last week.  Fiber Tuesday had the week off because we really didn't think many people would be around.  So I can't wait to see what you all have been working on these last two weeks.  I'm sure you've been working your fingers to the bones.

Little Camper from TheEclecticAbuela

My nephew and his wife are expecting a baby boy this summer, so, of course, I had to make a quilt.

Flannel Little Camper Quilt

The pattern is Tiny Turning Twenty by Tricia Cribbs. The fabrics are so cute that I had to take several close-ups.

A Tent in the Woods

This block teaches a lesson: Never leave your food container on the ground--it attracts bears!

I'm looking forward to meeting this young man when he arrives!

Welcome back to Fiber Tuesday!  How was everyone's week?  The basement is being used!  I've filmed several videos already, done some photography, and have planned several more projects.  It's really a blessing to have it even if the process of packing, unpacking, and sorting isn't my favorite thing in the world.  I can already see the fruits of our labor paying off.

Stringing Beads--An Original Design from TheEclecticAbuela

I love making string quilts. When I came up with this design, I decided to combine it with the April Multicolor Rainbow Scrap Challenge from soscrappy.

You can find previous posts about this quilt HERE (Part 1) and HERE (Part 2).

Without further ado, here is Stringing Beads:

Stringing Beads 68" x 75"

Stringing Beads (detail)

Stringing Beads (quilting detail)

Stringing Beads (backing detail)

I have no idea why the color went wonky in the last photo!

This is the most densely quilted piece I have ever made, but I like the effect. I am glad to have this one ...

Welcome back to Fiber Tuesday!  How was everyone's week?  I am moving into the new work space.  Hopefully, I will have a reveal of sorts on Wednesday.  There's one little spot not done but it's going to be awhile and I want to get pictures while it's still clean and organized.  It's got so much storage and little things built in to make my life so much easier.  I can't wait to share it with all of you.

Another Donation Quilt from TheEclecticAbuela

Earlier this year, I made a bunch (around 150) of scrappy pinwheels to use in donation quilts. I have finished three quilts--the final top is done, but not quilted--and I have only one pinwheel left! :)

I chose to do these quilts with different layouts; on this third one I set the pinwheel with alternate half-square triangle blocks.

Must have caught a breeze--the bottom really is straight!

Green with HST alternate blocks

These are the first two quilts:

Orange and on-point

Straight layout with sashing and cornerstones

The final quilt is a simple pinwheel to pinwheel layout--I'll post a picture ...

Welcome back to Fiber Tuesday!  How was everyone's week?  We are almost done with the basement!!  I'm so excited, there's a little bit of trim work to do but I should be moving in when you read this.  I've spent the day packing tubs for Paul to carry down the stairs and then I'll unpack.  The big thing now is figuring out what I want upstairs and what I want downstairs.  Plus, I have to figure out what sewing machine I want down there.

Fiber Tuesday 114 from The Quilting Room with Mel

Welcome back to Fiber Tuesday!  How was everyone's week?  We made a lot of progress this week on the new work area.  I have one door left to paint and a corner cabinet.  It's being a pain so I am holding off on painting until we get it figured out.  Other than that just plugging away so I can start producing videos and such for the blog.

Fiber Tuesday 113 from The Quilting Room with Mel

Welcome back to Fiber Tuesday!  How was everyone's week? I hope everyone had a good Memorial Day and spent time with family and friends remembering those who we have lost.  We spent the majority of the weekend in the basement.  We have walls with sheet rock and they have been taped and mudded.  The cabinets are installed and have been treated so I can paint them.  I have the bottom set primed and the doors for the upper set painted.  I am tired. lol  I have spent many a Tuesday night with the live tweet crew tweeting about Fixer ...
