TIME FLIES from That's Sew Kerry

12 Months On

I can't believe it's been over a year since I last wrote a blog post! I was walking around Festival of Quilts a little over a week ago thinking it's been a good few months since I've blogged and I quite miss it, only to log on and realize it's actually been more than a year  - how time flies!

So much has happened since my last post it'll take all day to catch you up but in brief we got the dream house and said room is filled to bursting with ...

english paper piecing with coffee

I spent two days at the Festival of Quilts this year and it was fully all about friends for me. It's like a quilty friend reunion and this post is going to be unashamedly about the people I met and the friends I saw... with quilts and cool finds interspersed throughout. If you are looking for a blog post featuring all the beautiful quilts that were on display, this isn't it (sorry). You will certainly find pictures of all the quilts on social media, like here.

After a fun road trip down with my friends Michelle and ...

Success at Festival of Quilts 2019 from Clever Chameleon

"Always Choose Tropical" chameleon quilt at the SA Festival of Quilts. By Dione Gardner-Stephen of Clever Chameleon

The Chameleon gets his 15 seconds of Fame!

The Chameleon will have to forgive me for taking so long to get around to making a chameleon quilt now, don’t you think? Not only did I make him a quilt FULL of cheeky chameleons, but I showed it in our local Festival of Quilts, and it won its category’s blue ribbon. That ought to keep him off my case for a while!

The weekend just gone was the annual Quilters’ Guild of South Australia’s Festival of Quilts. After judging, entrants who are successful get a specific invitation to ...

Our Year in Review from Telling Stories Through the Needle's Eye

We thought it would be fun to do a little year-in-review post this week, since it is almost time to say goodbye to 2018. What a year it has been! We have traveled to a few countries, enjoyed meeting many fellow stitchers in different parts of the world, and completed a lot of projects and patterns. Here is our year in pictures and posts. Just click on the caption, which is a link to the original post.

Birmingham Festival of Quilts—Japanese Beauty from Telling Stories Through the Needle's Eye

As Kara mentioned last week, we enjoyed our two-week stint together, attending the Festival of Quilts in Birmingham, UK, and enjoying lots of day trips near her home in Germany. I (Teri) came home happy and exhausted—and laden with new needles and threads to try, a bit of fabric, and a fair amount of chocolate. (Oh, and thousands of photos!)

Two exhibitions at the Festival of Quilts that really drew us in had something in common: both featured the work of Japanese quilters. The first showcased the work of just one quilter, Shizuko Kuroha, far left. Her exhibit, Indigo ...

Festival of Quilts is probably the highlight of the year for quilters in the UK. It's a chance to showcase talent and be inspired by the amazing display of quilts, an opportunity to meet up with friends and of course shop all the wonderful stalls and stands.
I have to admit I wasn't going to attend this year. I hadn't arranged to go with anyone, I was working Friday-Sunday and I've been so busy that it seemed almost impossible to take time off.  And then there's my anxiety, no small thing but it makes it ...

Festival Thoughts - Festival of Quilts 2017 from Joy of Quilting

This year I was asked to write a Blog Review of The Festival of Quilts Exhibition at The NEC Birmingham.  It was an easy decision for me. I go to The Festival every year and love it dearly.

Of course the challenge for me this year was to take in everything  - well, as much as I could in almost two days. And then to write a post to Share my Thoughts with you all.

The Festival of Quilts has recently started it's own Blog and the idea is to link my Blog Post to their Blog.

Of course if ...

Another quilt for Project Linus from Creating Chaos

Here is another quilt I've made for Project Linus.  This one uses black and white fabric with touches of red.   Earlier this year I read on the Project Linus website that they wanted black and white quilts for the Festival of Quilts this year so when I saw this fabric I knew I had to have it.  Sadly, it was not complete in time for FOQ but better late than never.

I used a simple rail fence pattern and then backed and bound it with red fabric.

I've just seen on their website that the theme for next ...
