Woof! from the confused quilter

Recently the Mini Quilt Trading Swap Flickr group held a swap with the theme Village, Town or House.  What a great theme!  This swap was a secret partner round, and I lucked out and got my dear friend Leslie's name.  Oh, I was so excited!!!

Took me a little while to decide what to make for her, but there was a happy dance when I settled one something.  As I was paging through the book Houses by Yoko Saito I found a dog house pattern--I knew I'd hit the right idea!  Leslie has a beloved Irish Setter named ...

The Joyful Stitcher from Trends and Traditions

Today I get to introduce my latest book called “The Joyful Stitcher”.

It’s different from what I have been doing lately, but when you’ve been in the industry for 20 years like I have, it’s time to shake things up a bit!   I am continually thinking of what I am going to create next that I haven’t already done.  Turns out it was something I never thought I would be doing – wool applique by hand.  And I enjoyed every minute of it!

Here is the intro from my book, which tells you a little bit more ...

Fall Quilts, Wool, and Wool Dyeing In the Microwave from Pink Doxies

Transitions

Summer has unofficially become fall here, though the calendar says it's still over a week away. It's 54 F this morning, and I'll have a cool studio today. I confess that sweltering heat does not bring out my creativity, and also that I've taken a little hiatus while coming to terms with my art and craft. Both points have made it more difficult to return to the studio daily, though I'm in and out. It's not an excuse, and there's no reason for me to apologize. It just is. You know, I ...

Felted Wool, Hand Stitching, & New Books from Pink Doxies

Felting Wool

This week started on the low side. Logic says one shouldn't get sick in the heat of summer, but I did, and then throw a nasty yellow jacket encounter on top of that. It's hard to determine what made me sicker, but I'm on the mend. Life happens. It meant quick trips over to my studio looking for little projects to keep me going while binge watching Downton Abbey, but mainly the Doxie girls and I snoozed through our week. (Yeah, they loved it.)

Our minds must play silly tricks on us while we work ...
