Out Of Town Today from Quilting My Way

This morning, I was up early. Everything was quiet. Patrick went golfing. So, I had the morning to myself. Ron and I walked 4 times around the block. He wasn't doing so good today but wanted to push it. At 94, I check with him to see if he wants to keep going when we get past the 2nd round.

When Patrick got home, we head out past Woodland to the casino off the freeway. We won $700 last year on our way to MI. This time we decided to go and see how it would go. What we ...

Two Peas in a Pod from Patchwork Times by Judy Laquidara

During the day, there’s lots of play fighting and teeth showing happening but when they both get tired, they can’t get close enough. Every night I laugh, just thinking about the mischief these two got into during the day but by about 6 p.m., their bellies are full and I have two little angles on...

The Upside Down Dog from Patchwork Times by Judy Laquidara

Last night as I was stitching, I knew both dogs were sitting on my lap but I cracked up when I looked down and saw Cooper. Almost all the time, Cooper sleeps on his back with his feet up in the air. There he was, sleeping on his back with his nose up in the...

The tinkering runs in the family from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Someone asked what will happen to the house. Actually, there are two houses on the property. One is the original house that my parents moved to the farm when they bought it in 1956. Hmm—I had better check that date—but it's somewhere in that era. Perhaps I can ask Mom today because I probably know, but yet I don't know.

That house was heated with a wood kitchen stove and two oil burners—one in the living room and one in one of the bedrooms. There was no bathroom and no running water. I lived there ...

Nearly done! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Wow!!! There's a powerful story in yesterday's comments about cleaning out a house in ONE day. We've been at it for 8 years! But only sporadically, of course.

I can't stress enough that you need to start looking around now. I don't care if you acquire new stuff but think about what you no longer need and get rid of that. Saying I don't care and will let my kids worry about it is irresponsible. Why should your kids deal with your mess? If you think it's too overwhelming, how will they feel ...

More Knitting and Happy Mother's Day from Romany Quilting

I seem to be busy knitting a lot lately.  Probably because we have been away for several trips in the caravan, and had a bout of Covid too last month.  So sitting at the sewing machine just didn't happen for a while.

So what have I been knitting?  Socks of course.  My daughter chose this pretty pink sock yarn a while ago and I've been diligently knitting away.  As soon as I grafted the toes I just had to cast on another pair of socks, navy blue yarn I received for my birthday, so this pair is for ...

Some Personal Sewing from Alamosa Quilter

I don't get much time for personal sewing these days. As a shop owner, most of my sewing time is spent on store samples and class samples. One of my nieces is getting married soon and she asked me to make some little duffle bags for her to give to her bridesmaids. So all last week, in between my regular shop duties, I made 7 duffle bags for her.

I used fabrics from my stash so all of the fabrics I used are older, discontinued fabrics. For the zippers, I used a package of By Annie's zipper by ...

Family Time at Hawkes Bay from Romany Quilting

The last four days have  been spent in our caravan at Napier NZMCA Park.    There was a sad reason for our trip, to attend the memorial service for my brother-in-law Dennis.  My sister Kathleen passed away three years ago during Covid lockdown, and her husband Dennis died last week.  We were pleased to attend and support my niece and nephew, and their adult children.  It was a nice service, sad at times of course, but plenty of happy memories.  Dennis enjoyed writing and several of his poems were showcased, I particularly liked this one, very apt at this stage in ...

Rita Pictures from Patchwork Times by Judy Laquidara

For those who requested photos, here are some that I pulled from the blog. I will try to keep these in order as best as I can. This first picture was taken within a few days of us catching her. You can see from her ears, she wasn’t totally comfortable being held. I had seen...

Our Little Clock from Patchwork Times by Judy Laquidara

First, I want to thank you all for the kind comments. I managed to read through them this afternoon. I didn’t try to respond to each comment but your words mean a lot to me. You may have noticed that there were a couple of people who were razzing me weekly about not showing pictures...

Rita from Patchwork Times by Judy Laquidara

This is a sad post but I feel like many of you have followed us on the journey with Rita and I wanted to share this. A couple of weeks ago, she started walking in circles . . for 15 or 20 minutes, almost spinning in circles. I would hold her and think maybe she...

Spending The Morning At Moms from Quilting My Way

This morning, I didn't sleep well. So, I was up and ready to go. I got a few things done before heading to moms. It's quilting Friday. Mom's Friday group is an applique group. Normally I don't like taking a lot over and having to bring it back so I decided I would work on one of mom's Block of the Month quilts.

Mom ordered this in 2018. She falls in love with some of Debbie M's quilt designs and orders the block of the month. She ordered her most recent one. So, we ...

Rain! from Patchwork Times by Judy Laquidara

I had mentioned that it was going to rain yesterday, today, Friday, Saturday AND Sunday. Yesterday it started raining before I was ready . . bad Mother Nature! I ran out, in the rain, a added blood meal to the garlic and before I had even finished, the rain stopped. That was it for yesterday’s...

A Little TLC from Jo's Country Junction

Sadly news in the Kramer family…Early last week my son Buck was getting out of the shower, slipped, fell, and broke two ribs. UGH. Nothing takes a strong man down like broken ribs. I saw it in my Dad. I saw it in my husband…and full circle, now I’m seeing it in my son. Broken …

Knitting for Jack, and Happy Birthday Gemma from Romany Quilting

There's a new baby in the extended family.  Robin's siter Kaye recently became a grandmother for the first time, when baby Jack arrived.  That was exciting news, making Jack our great nephew, I think.  I had already sent the new Mum and baby a colourful baby quilt, and then decided to knit him something.  Time was moving on, and babies grow so quickly, don't they.

I decided to knit the cozy little Jessie Jacket, designed by Kiwi Stitch and Knit Co..  This is knitted in a combination of stocking stitch and garter stitch, and has a little ...

A Great Saturday from Patchwork Times by Judy Laquidara

This morning Chad, Addie and Nicole drove down. Chad drove his pickup and trailer and his purpose for coming was to help Vince clean out our rented storage units. There are two left to be cleaned out but they are double size – 10 x 20 I think. But, before the cleaning and sorting began,...

The Highlight of my Week from Allen Quilts

I have been very busy this past week. It was a good week, just busy. I started and finished a custom quilting job, but it’s going to a guild challenge, so can’t share just yet, tho I doubt any of the guild members are reading this. Probably better safe than sorry. I started yet another… Continue reading The Highlight of my Week

A Weekend With the Family from Jo's Country Junction

I had a busy weekend. I worked from 6:40 am to 5:10 pm on Friday. I got home and shortly after that, my adult kids and grandkids started arriving. A wonderful man in our area passed away and I wanted to go to the wake. My adult sons, Karl and Buck, wanted to go as …

Long Dog from Patchwork Times by Judy Laquidara

I could measure (or try to measure) both dogs and see how long they are but, to me, Cooper looks SO much longer than Oscar. It may be because Oscar is quite a bit wider than Oscar. (Don’t tell Oscar I said that!) but sometimes, I look at Cooper and have to do a double...

A Day At A Time from Quilting My Way

This morning Patrick woke me early. So, I was up and ready to go. I enjoyed an hour before taking my shower.

Then I played some games. I felt good, till I took my meds and then my bp came down. That's not fun. We did get our walk in before having to leave to the playhouse. I wasn't feeling up to it most of the day. We went to see the play "Noise, Off" and it was really good. Patrick paid for mom, Nancy, brother Patrick, Christine, and us. It was really good and I laughed through ...
