A late Christmas present from Espritpatch

I had planned to make a new pair of pyjamas for my hubby for Christmas but time ran out before I even got started. I had bought some really soft brushed cotton fabric from Fabrics Galore during Black Friday sale to make the Eastwood pyjama bottom by Thread Theory and also some plain black jersey to make the Berlin tee by Toby K pattern as a top. I used both before for a PJ and they work perfectly.

I finally got around to cut the pieces earlier this month and at the weekend I sat with my overlocker to construct ...

Linden Sweatshirt from Espritpatch

I have been planning to try the Linden sweatshirt pattern by Grainline Studio for months but never got around to it.

I ordered some pretty cuff fabric before Christmas but didn't have time to use it until this month.
Not sure why it took so long... Especially when it was so fast making it on the overlocker from start to finish. I used pink thread, just because!

Q4 FAL in review from Espritpatch

The quarter (and the year) is finished. Some of my projects have been on the list for the full year and are still not finished but at least I have finalised a few projects, some old and some brand new. Let's review the list now!

Quilts:
1. Modern HST triangles (19 blocks are done), this one is hopefully also a serious contender for this quarter - only one block left to do now - no progress

2. Project 48 quilt with a few Solstice challenge blocks (all blocks done, might need a few more???) no progress
3. Farmer's Wife (not ...

Reusable gift bags from Espritpatch

In November, Sunflower Stitcheries started a sew along was started to make some reusable gift bags. I was of course planning to make some but never made any during the sew along.

Finally I made some a few days before Christmas. I only managed 9 but that's a start for a waste free Christmas. Once cut out, they were really fast to make on the overlocker.

The kids liked them too!

Christmas dress from Espritpatch

There was really little time to sew before Christmas and of course lots of projects. On my list of selfish sewing, one item I was really hoping to make myself a Christmas dress. I had bought some festive jersey fabric during Black Friday that was ideal for a comfy dress. I wasn't sure which pattern to pick and finally settled on the Moneta dress by Colette Patterns. The Moneta was my first ever dress and I had only planned to make more but never did. I finally got the pattern out and cut my pieces one evening.

I planned ...

New undies from Espritpatch

November theme for #magamsewalong was "Neglected November" and I was planning to use some of my jersey scraps to make knickers.  I cut 2 pairs,  one Acacia by Megan Nielsen and one Tippi window brief by Van Jonsson Designs out of the leftover from my last 2 Tees.

I finished my Acacia in November.

For the Tippi I wanted to use some fancy fold-over elastic that I didn't have so I ordered some but delivery was delayed. The half made panties were packed until recently.
The back piece of the Tippi could be made of lace but I didn ...

Hand made Christmas presents from Espritpatch

The open wide pouch is such a versatile pattern, I'm not sure how many I have made to date but it's often one of my go-to pattern.

Anyway I needed a few to complete some Christmas presents.

I made 2 that I filled with shaving products

And one for a teenage girl for her make up.

Open wide pouch from Espritpatch

I'm not sure how this is possible but December it's flying even faster than any other month. I hardly had time to sew. Earlier in the month, between my last 2 trips to the US, I found a little time to squeeze an orb wide pouch that I wanted to gift to one of my work colleague who had shown such an interest in my sewing.

I used Noodlehead's free pattern and some faux leather from my stash.

And just in time to fly to Washington, I had one pouch to gift.

One OPAM for December and ...

Sunglasses pouches - take 2 from Espritpatch

I made another batch of sunglasses pouches for my friend's craft market that was on yesterday. I finished them all about a week ago before I went away for a business trip (again) but never had time to blog about them yet!

A few more diverse colours this time

But still the same lovely pattern!

Plantain T from Espritpatch

I eluded to this one in my previous post! When cutting my Trudy turtleneck tee, I also cut a Plantain by Deer and Doe. I wanted it to be long sleeves too but didn't enough fabric for the long sleeves so I raided my stash to find a suitable complimentary fabric. I settled on the leftover black scuba I had used for my Sirocco jumpsuit a few months ago.
Again the construction is rather easy and the tee came together easily and quite quickly on the overlocker.

I love the neckband, which sits flat on me.
And the black ...

Sunglasses pouches from Espritpatch

A little while ago, I offered to one of my friend to make a few sunglasses pouches for a fundraising fair that she'll be doing at the end of November.  And of course, time is flying by and I hadn't made much progress... last weekend I finally picked up the ones I had cut in October ready to be assembled and went ahead.

And during the week, I spent some time knotting and burying the threads (you can't backstitch on faux leather really). I also made the slits for the ribbon.
And after a few days, I ...

Baby rattles from Espritpatch

We have had a new addition in our close family so I wanted to make a little gift until I have time/ inspiration for a baby quilt.

I saw some lovely baby rattles on IG made from a pattern by Make it, Love it

There are 3 little animals to choose from: a cat

A mouse

A rabbit

I used some wrinkly paper in the ears and a little rattle in the head for added noise and my 3 baby rattles are ready to be gifted!

Q4 FAL from Espritpatch

Not sure how that's happened? How can it already be the last quarter of the year? The busiest most probably too and I'm really not sure how much sewing time I'll fit but a girl can dream for sure? So the list is long once again and I really don't know how many projects I'll tick off in the end... I know which one I would really like to finish but we'll see how far that goes. Work will be busy too so I know sewing time will be limited.... never mind, let's ...

Q3 FAL in review from Espritpatch

I seem to have done well on small projects this term but not so well for bigger ones! My newly acquired massive faux leather stash has of course help to stir the course of my creativity. Anyway the massive long list is still massively long for next term I am sure....

Quilts:
1. Modern HST triangles (19 blocks are done), this one is hopefully also a serious contender for this quarter - only one block left to do now - no progress

2. Project 48 quilt with a few Solstice challenge blocks (all blocks done, might need a few more???) - no progress ...
