stash report April 23, 2023 from Making A Lather

I added some scraps from the guild table at our quilt show.  I haven't even taken them out of the sack. Most of  what I bought were 1.00 mystery bags filled with scrap pieces. The quilt show went well, with a smaller venue.

I entered sea sweptrainbow pineapple blossom, and Boho heart.

Utility Quilts from Becca's Crazy Projects

In 2002 I made this quilt for my husband. It was made with fabrics from one of the big box stores. The calicos were fat quarters of blue fabric. The background was a solid black, and the backing was bleached muslin. This is what I call a utility quilt. A quilt that was made to be used. A quilt to use until it can't be used any longer.
This quilt has been in use for twenty years. It was starting to show its age and had a few tears, mostly in the muslin backing at the top edge. That ...

No More Scraps from Heart Desire Creations

Ha Ha! Not Possible! But I do love a scrappy quilt. Recently, I pulled my two inch scrappy squares and then cut white two inch squares. I saw this quilt on the internet years ago and unfortunately, have no one to credit it with. It is an easy pattern to follow from the picture I saved.

Not sewing every day these days, so it took a bit to finish it but was worth it! The backing is an Anna Maria Horner home dec weight and works perfectly for a scrappy. I wouldn’t piece with this weight, but it’s ...

 Stash report February 26, 2023

I found these beauties on the free table at quilt guild. The key fabric is 36 inches, so is vintage. I am planning a patriotic quilt... someday, so, I keep a look out for red, white, and blue. I am collecting floral scraps, too.

We have a quilter that is moving. She had this little set of 30s fabrics on the table with 4 blocks sewn together. I thought it was cute. I could see making a medallion quilt over time as a memory of her.

Random thoughts on moving, packing, and stuff from A Prim and (not so) Proper Quilter

In anticipation of the move to our new home, I started packing this tiny apartment in which we have crammed so much stuff and I remember thinking when we moved in that we need to stop collecting… stuff.

And it is all just stuff, right?  And while I admire the minimalist lifestyle, I also love some of the little things that I admire not just for their beauty, but more for the memories they help me recall.

I know I’ve posted previously about stuff.  But I have been pondering the “where will it land” for all of the stuff ...

I found these pieces of woven plaids at goodwill for 99 cents each. The regular price now for  up to 1 yard is 3.99.  2 yards or more is 5.99. Someone didn't like these and marked them 99. I like them so I snatched them up to take home.

The Quilter’s Fabric Guide: How to Choose the Right Fabric for Your Next Quilt from Fat Quarter Shop's Jolly Jabber

With so many types of quilting fabrics available, choosing the right one can be overwhelming. It’s important to understand their differences so you can choose the best one for your next project. Keep reading to learn everything you need to know about quilting fabrics.

Types of High Quality Quilt Fabrics

Types of Quilt Fabric

Although standard quilting cotton fabric is our hands-down favorite for making quilts, there is a wide variety of fabrics available for sewing quilts, home decor and garments, such as batiks, wovens and flannel. Some are made from natural fibers like cotton and linen, while others are man-made. The base fiber affects ...

I don't have new fabric this week. I have been cutting scraps. I cut 1 1/2 inch strips at the last, if I can't cut anything larger. There was 1 pound 2 ounces of scraps in this size. If there are 3 yards in a pound, I have a little over 1 yard.

1 1/2 inch strips

When I have chunks, I cut them into 5 inch, 3 1/2 inch, 2 1/2 in, 2 inch, and 1 1/2 inch squares. I also will cut rectangles into 2 x 3 1/2 inch and ...

Diabolical Jane from Becca's Crazy Projects

I finished the Diabolical Jane quilt top in June 2021. I picked this great pink for the quilting.
Mostly because it coordinated with the quilt top and the backing.
I loaded it onto the frame.
I used this great all-over quilting design called Lace Agate Meander by Bethanne Nemesh. Her quilting is so inspiring. (Yes, that photo is blurry. Dreary winter days do not make for good lighting or photos.)
The backing fabric is delightfully colorful.
Now it can go in the stack of quilts waiting for binding.

If this style is something you would like to try I recommend ...
