What Are Quilters Blogging About Today?

It feels like winter is close, so this week I will share designs for wedding themed quilts … newly weds just might appreciate them, though it is a bit late to star making one if the wedding is in the near future.

If I had started quilting earlier in life, and had the bright idea early enough, before my siblings and cousins had married, I could have made a family wedding quilt, to be passed on from one couple to another, giving me time to make each couple an individual quilt.

Easter Wedding season is coming up quickly, but probably a bit late to start making a quilt.

Not too late to start one for their 10th wedding anniversary though.

I love both designs today.

At one point in my life I thought it would be a good idea to make a family heirloom wedding quilt … one which could be used by each newly married member of the family for a short time after the wedding. As it turned out I am glad I didn’t do it because I have heard of families where the extended families attended two weddings very close together and far apart so getting the quilt from one couple to another would have been difficult, even if the first couple had returned from their honeymoon.

I prefer the first one, but the second one is very interesting.

… love the second. The wedding rings are in the quilting, not appliqued as usual, but the romantic appliques shine.

For practical purposes wedding quilts made in these fabrics would have to be put away when children are old enough to start jumping on beds, until they leave home!

Of course, if one of the couple is a mechanic who comes home and sits on the bed the quilt would be forever in storage for future generations.

My favourite is the second one.

Not quite an all white wedding, but I like it.
