Heart Strings Attached ~ My All About Strings Blog Hop Post from Life in the Scrapatch

These Strings
have a long thread trail back in time
and to the heart they bind.

The string blocks for this quilt and pillow were make a long time ago.

I only have the top to show for now because my beautiful older workhorse of a machine
needs some care and repair. Trying to quilt this quilt and finish this pillow proved too much of a task for my Janome at the moment.

The String Leads Back to Here in 2010

I participated in a block swap run by Betty at the
long gone Forum @ Block Central

It seems this bitter cold has my mind dreaming of warm days and spring flowers.

So maybe my project will be a "Spring String Fling."

What does this make you want to sew?

Black & White Blog Hop ~ My Day! from Life in the Scrapatch

Flannel and Fleece Winter Slipper Boots

for the

Winter can be bitterly cold in the northeast.
Last night and today is one of these times.
After snow and ice, it is sub-freezing.

It was -2 degrees Fahrenheit when I woke up this morning.
That is -18 degrees Celsius for  my international friends.

Today we are chipping ice off the steps and walks.

We keep the temperature low in the mid to upper 60s F in the daytime
and turn it down to 62 degrees  at night.
Our feet can feel very chilled.

Most of our floors are wood or laminate ...

Where Flowers Bloom Blog Hop ~ My Day! from Life in the Scrapatch

Welcome to my garden!

My newest blooms are these Ruffle Flowers!

When Carla @ Creatin' in the Sticks announced this
fabulous flower filled blog hop...

Where Flowers Bloom Blog Hop

I knew just what I wanted to make.

I have had this pattern in my stash for a long time.
It is the "French Rose Buds" baby quilt version of the "French Roses" design,
but I adapted it for a tablerunner.
The reason why these raw edge applique flowers are called "French Roses"
is because the quilter who copyrighted the pattern
is named Heather French.

This is the very basic layout ...

30 Blocks in 30 Days. . . .today is my day! from Books, Hooks, Sticks, etc.

When I first saw the call for Carla's blog hop I wasn't going to do it. . . but then I started going through the blocks that she had come up with.  They started my mind working overtime. . . and I had to sign up!

Now, you will have to bear with me a little. . . . the stream of consciousness that I went through was really quite extraordinary, or well, I think it was!

So, the block I chose, Possibility, (you can find Carla's original tutorial for it here)  reminded me of the pop beads we had played with as kids ...
