Christmas on the Wall 23, 24 from Virtual Quilter

The first design is a showcase of block designs used in this project file, though not all blocks have been included.

I think I will claim the two parcels under the tree in the design above … I wonder what is in them.

Love the snowmen, birds, the candy canes, the bells, and the top star.

Christmas Rally and Fantasy Cave from Romany Quilting

The last caravan club rally of the year was held at the Woodville/Pahiatua Race Course, an 80km trip away driving up and over the Saddle Road.    There were nine vans on site for this rally.  The weather was mostly sunny, but come Sunday when it was time to drive back home, the wind was fierce enough to cause concerns.  Towing a caravan or driving a motorhome in windy weather is always a concern.

We had a fun day out on Saturday.  Later in the morning the members pooled cars and set of to Dannevirke ...

Christmas Beading 27, 28 from Virtual Quilter

I like the first design, and can see that there is room for some quilting.

The second design has less room for quilting, but more colourful beading.

A Spoonful of Christmas 21, 22 from Virtual Quilter

Love the first design for today.

I wasn’t happy with the way my day started … no internet, so today’s post is rather late, but I had plenty of time to play with quilt designs while I tried to work out what was wrong, and wonder if it was something I did, or the internet in general. Still don’t really know, but I am attached to the web again.

Designs like these would make it really worthwhile to make the bed every morning!

A MINI Christmas from From My Carolina Home

It was a rainy day with lots of fog on the route when we set off for the MINI Christmas event in the northeast Georgia mountains. Arriving mid afternoon, the MINIs were staring to line up in the parking lot.

Some had added some holiday cheer to their cars. They are still fun to see, even in the drizzly weather.

The hotel was on a lake, and even with the fog it was beautiful. Later in the evening, this firepit was lit, and we toasted marshmallows for s’mores. We couldn’t sit down because the chairs were wet, but ...

Binding chosen............. from Exuberant Color

I searched one more time and found this beige with brown dots for the binding on the batik stars quilt.  Most of my batiks are 1/2 yard or less and I needed more that that so my choices were limited.  I like this one with the border and the backing fabric.

I started the hand finishing but won't have it all done for a few days.  I have other things I need to do first.  It's amazing what a difference the lighting makes since these are the same fabrics as in the photo above.  The real colors ...

Free Motion Quilting – Holly from I Patch and Quilt

Oh I love this design! Instant Christmas feeling!

Are you looking for a new free motion quilting idea for a Christmas quilt? Apply this Holly design to a border or use it as an all-over.

These holly leaves are based on a square grid that is easily marked. Perhaps your quilt already has a grid because of the piecing.

Each holly leaf fits within a square. If you want to be more precise than that and aim for equally sized leaves, you could mark orange peels within the squares and stitch within those shapes.

If you look really closely you ...

Virtual Christmas Cookie Exchange from Quilt Doodle Doodles

Every year we have what we call 'Cookie Day', we spend the Saturday after Thanksgiving gathering at my mom's house and baking cookies. It's a tradition that we started years ago! My boys were little! I always looked forward to baking that day with my sisters and nieces. I always make the same things, caramel, dipped pretzels and peanut butter yo-yos. This year I bought some special frosting Santas and penguins to decorate my peanut butter yo-yos with. I also got some cute snowman carrot noses to make snowmen! I also purchased some cute boxes and bags to ...

Collecting Quilts and Christmas Get-togethers from Romany Quilting

We recently attended the last Probus meeting for the year, held in the local Cossie Club, followed by a wonderful catered meal.  There was a big group of about 80 members present, and the restaurant certainly did us proud with the menu.  Hot ham and chicken, plenty of veggies and salad, followed by sticky date pudding, custard and cream, with meringues and fruit salad too.

Vintage Christmas Tablescape from From My Carolina Home

Setting a festive table early in the month for everyday use brings more cheer to meals in December. I’ve been collecting these dishes for some time now, finding a mug here, and a bowl there. I’ve added three serving pieces found online, but there is no room for them on the pub table we use for everyday meals. There is barely enough for the large place settings, but it is so much fun to use the dishes as much as possible this month.

The set is called Vintage Christmas designed by Susan Winget. I just love her designs ...

Slow Stitching Sunday from Romany Quilting

It’s a good day to spend inside today, it’s been raining all day.  Mother Nature is a bit tardy as the season has changed over to Summer, so where’s the sunshine?.  My slow Sunday stitching is coming along well, and I have now finished my first block of four of a cheeky Kiwi enjoying his Christmas Summer holidays.   Kiwi is camping in his Kombi van, cooking over the camp fire.  Yes, we celebrate Christmas in the Summer season here in New Zealand.

Gingerbread Christmas 29, 30 from Virtual Quilter

My favourite sort of gingerbread … no messy kitchen, no crumbs!

To be honest, I love gingerbread, but dislike cooking and cleaning.

However, all the cutters required to make the gingerbread would make great Christmas Tree decorations.
