Quilt Found near Ames, Iowa from Lost Quilt Come Home Page

Sara is looking for the owner of a full size quilt that was found on the side of a road on August 8, 2019. Sara suggested that perhaps the quilt fell out of a vehicle of a student moving into Iowa State University.

Quilt found along a road in the Ames, Iowa (Iowa State University) area.

Stolen: Kaleidoscope Quilt from Lost Quilt Come Home Page

McKenna is asking for help in locating this kaleidoscope quilt that she made for her sister. The quilt measures 60″ by 90″ and features batiks of oranges and blues, with a distinctive purple-swirls background fabric to create the kaleidoscope images. On the back, while not a label per se, there is inked the signature, McKenna Linn.

Lost: Cityscape Quilt Top from Lost Quilt Come Home Page

Lauren Kermode is asking for help in locating a quilt top that she calls Waters Edge Nighttime Cityscape. This quilt is the quilt maker’s original design, approximately 45″ x 60″ made of black, orange, and off white fabrics.  The skyscrapers on the cityscape quilt are made from a black fabric that has tiny red (and some gray?) squares on it. Lauren explained, ” This guy is a city sky at Sunset with a large Rising Moon. All of the skyscrapers are also reflected into the blue black swirling water.”

Ann Yuhas reported that on June 5, 2019 she found a lovely purple and white lap quilt at Normandale Park in Portland, Oregon. The quilt was made of fabrics that are batiks, probably constructed with 2.5″ strips, and machine pieced and machine quilted.

A woman in Santa Maria, CA contacted me with information about a quilt that was delivered to her place of employment packed into a box that was intended for her employer. The quilt is approximately six feet by seven feet, made of pink and green floral fabrics on a white or neutral background. It looks to have been machine quilted. Julia explained that their package originated in Ohio, but came open in shipping and was repackaged with this quilt in Memphis, TN before being delivered to Santa Maria, CA. Lost: Colorful Paisley Quilt from Lost Quilt Come Home Page

Shelly Welton is asking for help in finding a quilt that was left in a laundromat in Kentwood, Michigan in 2007. The quilt measures 100′ x 100″ and is made of 11 different colors of paisley fabrics, collected over time. In 2002 Shelly designed the quilt pattern (all squares) on graph paper, and machine pieced it together. The backing has a couple rows of the print running across the top, and the rest is all plain white/cream. Thick embroidery thread was used to tie the quilt.

Donna Boots is looking for help in locating family members of the makers of a signature quilt from most likely the 1940’s.  Genealogical research indicates that some of the names on the quilt may have ties to Oklahoma.  Donna bought this signature quilt at an auction in New Mexico, in an area where retirement communities are popular among military families, which makes it likely the quilt has been moved from it’s original home.

Sally Schultz reports that a quilt made in 2018 by her mother in law has gone missing in the process of moving from one apartment to another in Monroe, Iowa. This queen sized “Mountain” quilt is the quiltmaker’s original design hand pieced of blue and purple batik fabrics with green and gold quilting cotton fabric. The quilt was finished with celtic knots, and has a label which states, “Made by Jo Ann Schultz” sewn on the back.

I’ve been contacted by a quilter who is looking for the owner of this very unique item. Kathleen Bell wrote: “Does anyone recognize this two-sided quilt? It was given to me (Kathleen Bell) by a person who had no idea of its origin. It was most likely picked it up at a thrift store in Florida. It has no label.
This quilt is the quiltmaker’s original design, measuring 49” by 62”.
