Why I like BOM’s so much from The Crafty Quilter

I think I should start a club for people who have a block of the month (BOM) addiction. Surely I can’t be the only one! Today I’m going to tell you why I like love BOM’s so much and show you which one’s I’m participating in. (You can see a peak of an unpublished BOM I designed in 2017 in the graphic below.)

Check out Why I love BOM's so much! There are so many reasons and you'll find lots of information about block of the month programs @ The Crafty Quilter.

Why BOM’s?

I love variety and BOM’s usually provide that with a lot of different quilt blocks in one quilt. Some BOM’s are sampler quilts and some are more ...

2022 project ideas and updates from The Crafty Quilter

Yesterday, I put all of the Christmas decorations away and now I feel like I’m ready for the New Year. I love fresh starts and new projects! Today, I have some 2022 project ideas to share with you, but first I’ll tell you about all the things happening in my small world.

I took a break from my sewing room during the holidays to spend time with my family. We had all four children, a spouse, and three grand children home for six days and some in and out for two weeks. It was so much fun, lots ...

Lots of WIP’s, a pattern discount and getting ready for the holidays from The Crafty Quilter

Happy Sunday! Today I have lots of WIP’s to show you plus a pattern launch discount. I’ll also give you a heads up on my next blog post (think holidays).

Current WIP’s

My works in progress are the current projects that are front and center in my sewing room. I’m teaching a skill building class via Zoom using my Possibilities Quilt Pattern. It’s been four weeks with a lovely group of ladies. The four blocks that I’m making for the class are traditional favorites. I’m using a fat quarter bundle of Notting Hill ...

Summer, projects and updates from The Crafty Quilter

Sometimes finding a title for a blog post takes longer than writing the thing. Well, not really, but it’s a roadblock for sure. I have been all over the place with life lately and not as focused on the quilting world as I’d like to be. So here’s a little update on what’s happening in my world this summer.

We’ve been enjoying a lot of time at home and taking short trips here and there. We’ll be going to Austin next weekend to celebrate our granddaughter’s 6th birthday. We’ll be watching her ...

Latest summer happenings from The Crafty Quilter

Summer is officially here! One of the things I love about it is the summer produce. We are so lucky to live in an area with an abundance of fresh, local fruits and vegetables. The apricot stand near our house just opened and the nectarines, peaches and berries are in full swing. Time to start making jams and cobblers!

I just pulled out my Summer Fun wall hanging and it’s so bright and happy. If you’d like to make one, you can find a series of free tutorials at my Summer Fun QAL from 2018. I’m working ...

A new quilt along and some quilt blocks from The Crafty Quilter

Happy Friday! I have some updates to share (including a fun new quilt along) but first, I wanted to thank you for your kind messages from my recent Mother’s Day blog post. I always hesitate to share much about my personal life on the blog. Before I hit “publish”, I wonder if they (you) won’t be interested or you might think I’m “fluffing my feathers” with too many pictures of me and my family. But you always amaze me with your generous and supportive comments. So thank you for that!

On to the new stuff! I just ...

WIP’s and more from The Crafty Quilter

I feel like I should call this blog post “WIP’s and more WIP’s” or “The Battle of the WIP’s”. I have a growing number of works in process, but I’m enjoying myself immensely. So it’s not really a battle of WIP’s but a battle of time. I know we can all relate!

I’m co-teaching a block of the month class (via Zoom) and it’s getting towards the end of the year. This means I need to get all of my blocks sewn together, finish up the applique borders and… you know the ...
