Menorca qué ver y dónde comer from La Vida en Patchwork

Plato porcelana servir jamón serrano from La Vida en Patchwork

Scrap Busting Charity Quilt from Brown Bird Designs Quilts

I have been in a bit of a funk for the past two years. As a result, my list of UFOs (Unfinished Objects) is growing. I have not added many finished quilts to my list of completed projects. The quilting group I am in is called Harmony and is part of do. Good Stitches, a group that makes charity quilts. I get to pick the block used for a quilt two times a year, and that month each group member sends me two blocks. I get about 20 blocks. That is why I am so excited to have finished this ...

Smart Iron, What are they? from Brown Bird Designs Quilts

Taking the time to iron and starch fabrics before you start a project builds a solid foundation for the rest of the process – I love crisp edges and strongly believe that they make creating so much easier. Today we are sitting down with Michele Muska, who works for Oliso Smart Iron. I got my hands on this iron and absolutely love it. I am so happy to be chatting with Michele today. Grab yourself some tea, coffee, or maybe even some wine, and let’s talk about creating.

3 Things I’m Enjoying This Week 3.28 from Quilty Therapy

Hello Sunshines.  The last month has been head down on work and taken a lot of time away from the things I typically enjoy.  That’s the ebbs and flows of being at a startup. Shop Small It is no secret that I love supporting small businesses.  One thing really irks me about others when they […]

3 Things I’m Enjoying This Week 2.6 from Quilty Therapy

We are dug out from our snowstorm this week.  The boys have been enjoying the giant mountain of snow that gets built up in our yard from the plows.  This week has been lots of time at home and reading. I should clarify something from my post last week on Quilt Clothes.  I don’t care […]

3 Things I’m Enjoying This Week 1.30 from Quilty Therapy

Hello Sunshines, We are in the middle of a cold spell in Indiana.  It was around -10 the other morning.  That’s cold. With cold spells comes my signature hobo chic look.  Messy bun, tights or joggers, shirt, and a big boyfriend style sweater.  I complete the look with Uggs or slippers.  It’s a hot mess, […]

An Annual Ritual from Quilting Studio Adventures

Every year in early January I print out my blog.  While it's nice to know it's in the cloud, it's also satisfying to have these hard copies.  The 2021 book will go on the shelf right next to the others, starting with 2009.  These books are poorly indexed, and it's often hard to find what I want.  But I do have great fun trying to find certain things.  The index that appears on the laptop or iPad, never on my phone, is pretty useful. I've noticed that I'm not blogging as much but sewing ...

Curtain Rod Connectors Part 2 – Create Your Own Custom Corner Curtain Rod from Nikki, In Stitches

Today we have part 2 in my series of posts about how you can use curtain rod connectors to enhance your basic curtain rod. We’re going to create our own custom corner curtain rods, this time using just one connector and one support!

I am back today to talk more about curtain rod connectors. Who would have thought I’d have so much to say about these tiny little things?

Need a quick refresher? Here’s a pic of a curtain rod connector. It’s tiny (like only about two inches long) and has a hinge in the center ...

Terracotta Fiori Quilt Along – Week 8 from Brown Bird Designs Quilts

We are so close to being done!! The only step left is binding our quilt. Whatever point you are at in the process of quilt making, give yourself a great big hug. You are rocking it!! I’m so happy you’re here and can’t wait to see what you’re working on.

You can send me photos of your finished quilt and I will add them to this blog post (edemoo@brownbirddesigns.com).

Until recently, binding has been my kryptonite. It’s only been during the past 2 or 3 years that I’ve found myself comfortable with ...

Have you ever tried machine applique? Machine applique is a fun and easy technique to add to your quilt making. On the contrary, applique can be a really fun, easy, and simple way to add pizzazz to your quilts.

Mis nuevos pintauñas Hermes from La Vida en Patchwork

Me deshecho ...

Terracotta Fior Quilt Along: Week 6 from Brown Bird Designs Quilts

Guess what?? It’s already week six of our Terracotta Fiori Quilt Along! I know… I can’t believe it either. How is everyone doing?? Did you get all your triangles put together?? Pulling out the paper can get a little overwhelming, but you can do this.

For tips on pulling out paper, head over to last week’s blog post. Last week, we also sewed our half hexagons together. This is one of my favorite steps because of the freedom you have to play with the layout and decide on color placement. After laying everything out, you can reward ...

Terracotta Fiori Quilt Along: Week 5 from Brown Bird Designs Quilts

We’ve all been sewing up a storm in our sewing rooms. At this point in the Quilt Along, we’re creating all the triangles for the Terracotta Fiori Quilt. Hopefully, you’re all enjoying yourselves!

Changing Up the Timeline

I know life tends to get in the way — so this week we’re slowing down a bit. I thought I would give you a little more time to get the last of your triangles put together, pull all that paper out, create half hexagon sets, and put a few rows together.

Yes, we’re adding steps this week! But ...
