What day is it??? It’s Quilt Block Mania Day! Today I joined in a Block Hop that my friend Carolina Moore puts on. It is something I have wanted to do for some time, so I am excited to be here. Are you ready for some flower power?? The theme that ties all the blocks on today’s block hop together is floral. A theme that is too good for me to pass up! I started with one flower and ended up with four. The orange part is the top of the flower, or disc flower, and the petals ...

A big box of fabric was delivered a few weeks ago, and I have been busy trying to decide what designs I will take from idea to written pattern. I think I have narrowed down my list to about five. Fingers crossed I will get to them all written soon.

I took the leap of faith and registered for a booth at the Quilts, Crafts and Sewing Festival. This is something that I have wanted to do for so long, and I am feeling all the things. Scared. Excited. Happy. Nerves. Lots of nerves, but this is part of my goals for 2023, get out more. Make more connections. Continue to build a quilting community in person and online.
I have been busy getting things for my booth (G) to be able to display all the goodies I will be bringing. I think I am in good shape so wish ...

While I was there, I couldn’t help myself… I just had to see how my last pattern, the Mountain Breeze Quilt, would look in different pattern layouts by pulling many fabric swatches from different designers and manufactures. If you are like me, you get lost in all the possibilities. Come with me and enter my dream world of what if. This is the place where ...

I hope you have a wonderful holiday season!! I know it is a busy time of year, but I hope you got to spend a few moments at peace… possibly sewing. Last week I picked out some fabric to make another quilt for a class I will be teaching next quarter at the Quilt Basket. You guessed it! It will be using the Mountain Breeze pattern. I can’t wait to see how it turns out. I always like to try to change the colors dramatically so it looks like something different. Speaking of different, here is the Mountain Breeze ...

I am in dismay thinking that Christmas is only a few weeks away. I started planning what I was going to do for Christmas months ago. Still, after being away on a quilting cruise, put on by Stitching Heaven, for a week, then Thanksgiving and trying to catch up with work, I scaled back what I would be doing to a 12 Days of Christmas ...

read moreI am so excited to share another rendition of the Hope’s Path quilt made by Susan Wells. This quilt was created with Andover fabrics designed by Libs Elliott. I love the color purple; it was actually the accent color at my wedding. Workshop, the fabric line used in this quilt, came out earlier this year. It offers a full range of colors from pinks to yellows to greens to blues to grays all the way to blacks. The designs found within it are simple and truly abstract.

We are getting close to the big holiday. A day devoted to the greatest precut ever created: the jelly roll. What is it?? Some people might think I am talking about a dessert. Yes, that type of jelly roll is delicious. I have a big sweet, tooth, so I would not pass up that type of jelly roll. However, today I am talking about a quilting precut: the beautiful and the wonderful jelly roll. It is 2 1/2″ cuts of about 40 strips of fabric selvage to selvage. All of the fabrics in a ...

My main thought… Being trapped on a boat with nowhere to go and nothing to do, other than quilt… That is amazing!!!
I say this with humor and simplifying it to almost nothing. Cruise ...
