I am a Quilt Book Bibliophile from Life in the Scrapatch

This the book I have dusted off for the

It was published in 1999.
I have no idea how long it has been on my shelf,
but I cannot recall ever sewing a pattern from this book.

Like many of my quilt books I found it on
a white elephant table at a quilt show
for a fraction of its original cost.

I love quilt books!

I usually have a stack near me and I browse and read
all the time for ideas and just for fun.

Do you love quilt books?

Strip Quilt Secrets Blog Hop & Give-Away! from Val's Quilting Studio

Diane who blogs at Butterfly Threads Quilting makes the most wonderful scrappy quilts! I'm always inspired by her combination of bright colors and fabric patterns to design such a variety of patterns. When she published her first book: Scrap Book Secrets, I devoured it, reading it cover to cover and taking note, especially as I read her chapter of Quilt Making Basics. And now she's done it again!!

BOOK TWO!

I quickly volunteered to be part of her book release blog hop as I've had this tote of 30's repro fabric strips that I had cut ...

Best blog posts of 2018 from The Crafty Quilter

The end of 2018 is a few days away, so I thought it would be fun to participate in The Best of 2018 hosted by Cheryl at Meadow Mist Designs.  I’m the type of person that always looks forward; rarely backwards.  This was a great nudge for me to take a look at the past year and see what my best blog posts were; what worked and what didn’t.

Best of 2018 Linky Party @ Meadow Mist Designs

How does one pick the best five blog posts of the year?  I went with the most number of page views which is a fairly concrete way of ...

Fall into a QAL Recap from The Inquiring Quilter

Qal logo Abbie Design.png

The Fall into a QAL just concluded and I thought I'd recap it a bit. First, thank you so much to everyone who participated! The other designers and I were overwhelmed by your creativity and perseverance. For many of you, the blocks required skills that you'd never used before but you didn’t let that stop you and in the end you created lovely quilts!

Thanks also to my fellow designers. I love the way we work together and I can’t wait for our next quilt along!

The final linkup closed Monday at midnight (specifically, November 12th ...

So there I was, debating what to create for this blog hop, and the only thing on my mind was Halloween and what to do with that blog hop… My mind was on the Purple People Eater… not that I ever saw the movie that this saying was made famous in, but to me, a people eater is like a monster that is purple… Ya’ll know I love monsters, so there ya have it, as my mind considered the Purple People Eater, Halloween approached and my project got done, time to move on to Art With Fabric’s project ...

And It’s the Last Day of Peek A Who… from Seams To Be Sew

It’s always sad when a fun event such as any blog hop we venture into ends. All the creativity and inspiration tho still goes on by each of these bloggers each time they post. Blogging is a very popular way to inform people of what you’re up to… One does not need to be famous to run a blog, some of the best bloggers I know are not famous and they are full of inspiration and creativity. Having events such as this one help to bring us all together since the one thing we love most is this ...

On This The 4th Day of Peek A Who… from Seams To Be Sew

We again have some very talented bloggers who will be showing off their wonderful projects. Yesterday we saw some outrageously fun projects that I know inspired me to get busy and finish a quilt… I was really hoping to do more of that this year but time just passes so quickly it seems and sometimes real life has to come first over my lonely Bernie who is waiting patiently for me to use him again… I have done some sewing this year, but my concentration is more on Christmas and my new grand nephew coming to us in the New ...
