March and April binding challenge! from Applique 'n Patch Quilting

No-blog Mary and I did it again .... we got our March binding challenge completed.

This is Mary's quilt and she says "Oh, my stars .  What a big quilt.".  It was a large quilt and she struggled getting it done but a few days of bad weather and she did it!

These are my two quilts.  Two quilts for donation.  So, so happy!  There will be another post on these quilts later this month.
For April, this is my binding challenge .... my tulip quilt and it will be done and ready for hanging in May when our tulips start to ...

Well, no-blog Mary and I got 2023 off to a good start ..... but I had to do a bit of prodding to get Mary working on finishing her binding.  Our weather was dull and dreary last month and Mary was affected by the lack of sunshine ..... but she got there in the end and we can close out the month of January with a finished quilt.  Yeah us!

This is Mary's January quilt:

This is my January quilt and there will be more about this quilt on another post:

December and January binding challenge from Applique 'n Patch Quilting

Well, we DID IT!  No-blog Mary and I bound at least one quilt per month for 2022!  A few extra quilts  were slipped in by both of us but mostly we stuck to one per month.  Sometimes, we each waited until the last day of the month to show our quilts and other times, our quilts were done well in advance of the month end deadline.  Still, we got at least 12 quilts done and that is such a beautiful word!  Ahhh, the feeling of success is wonderful!  What a great way to end 2022.

This is Mary's December ...

November Binding Challenge from Applique 'n Patch Quilting

The year is running out .... just one more monthly binding challenge for this year.

No-blog Mary and I met our November challenge.

Mary did two small quilts.  She took photos of one but the second one was gifted before she remembered to take a photo.  Mary did say that Xmas gifts will be very easy this year .... a number of her finished quilts, runners, etc. will be gifted.  A win-win, I would say!!

My two quilts got done plus a third one.  Wow, bonus!!!!  Posts will be coming for these two quilts.

In the process, I have a new favourite ...

October and November Binding Challenge from Applique 'n Patch Quilting

Another month gone and no-blog Mary and I each completed our binding challenge.

This is October's by no-blog Mary:

and mine (more on this quilt later):
We then pulled our quilts for November .... two each this time.

Mary's quilts are small, so she thought she should do two this month.

So, not to be outdone, I also chose two.  LOL  These are needed for Xmas gifts and I might as well get them done early.  These were picked up from my LAer this morning and they are already trimmed.  Binding for one of them has already been cut ...

It's been a while! from Applique 'n Patch Quilting

My life is quite busy at the moment and will continue for another few more weeks.

Cottage season is winding down and my sister and I are trying to get as much done outside and inside while weather permits.  Our Canadian Thanksgiving is in a few weeks time and that is when we close down the cottage for the season.

The squirrel saga continues.  The cedar seeds have dried up and are now brown in colour.  We keep checking each time we go out to the cottage to see if the squirrel has stored away these seeds.  Come on, squirrel ...

September binding challenge from Applique 'n Patch Quilting

With all that has been happening with my life lately, I forgot to post what quilts were chosen for September.  Between my falling, cousins visiting for our annual cottage get-together and working on the cottage, I forgot to post.  Oh well .....

This quilt is no-blog Mary's and what a beauty it is!  Love the scrappy fabrics.

My quilt is this one:
I wondered if Mary had enough quilts to bind for another year, so she was asked .... did she?  Heck, yes!  She has recently sent 11 tops to her LAer.  So, no-blog Mary is good for another year, for ...

July binding challenge from Applique 'n Patch Quilting

No-blog Mary and I have chosen our quilts to bind for July.  Half the year is gone already ..... where did it go?  At least we each have quilts to show for our hard work for the first six months of this year.

Her quilt is "It Takes Two"!  What a beauty and she stuck with it and finished the top.  She did substitute some of the blocks.  She informed me that she would make it again but in blues next time.  I started making this pattern, but abandoned it and it will be combined with another UFO just to get ...

June Binding Challenge from Applique 'n Patch Quilting

Well ..... no-blog Mary and I met our binding challenge again for June!

She finished her monster quilt!  So, so cute!

Me .... I finished my "Xmas Stars" quilt a few days before the deadline!  I've been cutting it close the past two months and I need to change it up for July.  This only took me a day to do as the quilt is not very large.  More on this quilt on another post.

Our perennial garden has been blooming with different plants the past few weeks.  Here are what was blooming then.  The blooms just come and go so ...

Another month and another quilt got done by no-blog Mary and me for the month of May.  Ah, how lovely it feels to each get another quilt completed and used.  That is what quilt making is all about .... making and keeping/gifting and using it to keep us warm.

This is Mary's quilt:

April Binding Challenge from Applique 'n Patch Quilting

Well, no-blog Mary and I did it again!  We each completed our April challenge quilt!

This is Mary's quilt:

This is my quilt and there will be more on this quilt in an upcoming post.  I have it drying on a rack in our T.V. room.  For my quilts, they are sometimes dried completely in the dryer; sometimes they are put in the dryer for a few minutes and then dried on this clothes rack.  It depends on the batting and who the recipient is.  My quilts are always washed after the binding goes on.  Always.
Ask me ...

Getting stuff moving along! from Applique 'n Patch Quilting

There are only have a few more days left this month to get the binding done on my April challenge quilt!  This is the home stretch.  After this, there will be a sleeve and a label to add to complete the challenge.

Much progress has been made on my "Dilly Flower".
Everything right of the zig-zag line is completed.  All the flowers that have the pink paper on them means that the background hexie has been prepped but not sewn together.  A bit more cutting and basting on the other flowers are still to be done, but I'm so ...

No blog-Mary and I have selected our quilts to bind for April.

This is Mary's quilt.  Gorgeous!

This is my quilt.
Each quilt is bigger than the previous three challenges, so it might take us the whole month to bind.

All it takes is just one foot of binding at a time and viola, done!

March Binding Challenge from Applique 'n Patch Quilting

So, month three and no-blog Mary and I have each completed our challenge!  That is three quilts times two (3 x 2) = six quilts done .... except I did one extra, but we won't count that as the challenge is to do one per month!  Bravo to each of us.

This is Mary's quilt.

During the binding of my quilt, I played binding chicken and lost.  Oh, so close!
After doing a frantic search through my solids bins, the remaining (and I do say remaining) piece of matching fabric was found and another strip cut off.  There is only ...

Now for our March challenge, this is Mary's quilt.  Mary says that she is so happy we are both doing this challenge since this quilt is about 10 yrs. old.  Whatever is ...

January Challenge .... Tick! from Applique 'n Patch Quilting

Well, my friend (no-blog Mary) and I have completed the January binding challenge!  Wooo hoooo!

My quilt is bound, label and sleeve on ..... DONE!

This is not the best photo, but it will have to do for now.  Next month, all my red/neutral quilts will be on display and hopefully, that will be a good time to take a decent photo.   The quilt has been hung onto my curtain hiding my stash.  We won't talk about that!  LOL

This is no-blog Mary's quilt.  Let the heavens open up and let the angels sing "hallelujah".  Well done, Mary ...
