Two Modern Barn Mini Quilts | #Finishit2019 Number Two & Three from Canoe Ridge Creations

Do you ever made the same quilt twice? I'm usually a "one quilt & done quilt" kind of gal - in fact, before one project is complete, I'm already thinking about what's coming up next. That all changed over the Holidays when I was commissioned to make two identical Modern Barn Mini Quilts - finish number two & three for 2019.

Both customers requested their mini quilts to match the original one featured in the Fall 2016 issue of Quilts & More - fabric, straight-line quilting, and all. It was a fun project - especially because I very rarely use my own directions to ...

Bella Skill Builder Quilt from Pieced Brain

Here is my finished Bella Skill Builder quilt, the cool result of the Sew Along hosted by Fat Quarter Shop. Melissa from Sew Shabby Quilting did a fantastic job choosing the perfect quilting motif for this project.

The fabrics are Bella Solids from Moda Fabrics and the colors were chosen online so I was not sure how they would turn out together. Bright and cheerful!

I pieced the backing and the binding using the same fabrics from the quilt top, so I have hardly any leftovers.

You can download the patterns for each block/month by clicking here and going ...

Sneak Peek ~ New Project! from Life in the Scrapatch

I love my Bella Solids Color Chart.

When I needed to decide on a solid to coordinate with
my Fragile by Zen Chic Mini Charm Project,

I reached for my color chart.

I find this an essential tool when designing and deciding
on colors and fabrics.

There are touches of a lovely blue turquoise in the

fabric line.

I was looking for a solid to bring out this color,
so I opened to the blues and turquoise page
on my handy Bella Solids Color Chart
and looked for the perfect match ...

Her we are… Block 8 in the Bella Skill Builder quilt along hosted by Fat Quarter Shop!

Bella Skill Builder
Block 8

This block will require a specialty ruler or you will have to create a template for yourself. Either will work just fine!

Creative Grids Ruler - Starburst 30 degree Triangle

Creative Grids Starburst 30 Degree Triangle Ruler

I chose to make a template. The pattern comes with one for you to trace… grab some thin template plastic and trace/cut it out. Ignore the lines I drew on mine… I was just using them as a guide.

I stacked up my fabric and then drew ...
