Time has usurped my sewing options. I had a wonderful week with a daughter and two of her adult children. One was to be Assistant Director at a local camp. Sadly, camp was cancelled the day before she was to report. The rest of the family had departed so she is now spending a mountain summer here in my sewing room. Free Motion Mavericks
I've been pretty quiet on-line and off, just getting through these winter days. I can feel daylight lasting slightly longer, which is wonderful.
I did some meditation stitching. Here are my last three blocks.
This was an old t-shirt that was used as a cleaning rag. The last time that I dyed fabric, I still had dye left over, so I threw in a few extras. This one one of them. You can see the image of dried flowers from the original t-shirt design.

It's entirely English Paper Pieced. Before embellishment, it looked like this:
Afterwards, along with the beads and buttons on top, I added danglies below.

I've been doing some more slow stitching. This time with a little meditative quiet time added in.
Slow stitching, meditation style
In the October/November edition of the Quilting Arts magazine, I read an article that spoke to me. The article, Stitch Meditation, by Liz Kettle talked about meditating while stitching, since she found that regular meditation didn't really work for her. Wow! I've been trying to meditate and find it one of the most painful things to do. Quieting the mind is really difficult, except when I'm immersed in my quilting, or playing with code ...
Challenge 11.1 of Project Quilting is due tomorrow morning. The theme is Notably Numeric which includes geometry. The Flower of Life is part of what is known as Sacred Geometry. It's all very intriguing stuff.
Flower of Life
I'm not mathematically inclined, but geometry, especially if I don't have to calculate anything, can be quite beautiful. In fact, geometry is the basis for traditional quilting. Although I don't do much traditional quilting anymore, that's how most of us learned to quilt.
