read moreNothing better than a tight deadline to focus my attention! I bought a panel to make a birthday present for my friend a few months ago and of course it had sat there since. Well her birthday was on Sunday and she invited us for a meal so I knew I had to finish my gift by then. I was originally planning to make a pouch but the panel was rather large at 17''+ so I decided a tote bag would be more appropriate.
First step was to pick a complementary faux leather for the back of the bag as ...
read moreBack in October I bought a faux leather panel and some fabric to make a tote bag to each of my two daughters... for Christmas. Well let's say that everything was stashed away and nothing happened before Christmas. I then set my deadline as their birthday and again, I missed the target for the first one. But the difference there was that I had at least just started it before my daughter's birthday. I decided to use the Emma Tote Bag pattern by Bara-Studio for her bag since it is quite big and I needed to take into ...
read moreI’ve made quite a few bags from patterns at Annie Unrein’s site, and this is my latest. The strap adjusts to make the bag go from shoulder bag to cross-body bag to fanny pack — very useful! The pattern was introduced at the Houston quilt show, where I made sure to get a copy and […]
read moreAnother project I had started in January and hoped to finish before Christmas... While cutting all the pillow card holders with my cricut, I cut out a keyring for hubby and got some fusible vinyl out to add a little Star Trek symbol.
A couple of weeks ago, a good friend of mine, Allison Sheridan, posted on her blog that she’d bought a new travel charger for her devices. The only problem was that the bag it came with was too small to hold the cord as well, and it was made of some disgusting fabric that just […]
read moreI made another batch of little pillow card holders, with a bit more colours this time and I remembered to take pictures!!
Still using the same pattern: Pillow Card Holder pattern from Sewing Seeds of Love.
I cut a pile of them on my cricut from various scraps of faux leather which had a nice enough wrong side since these are not lined.
Once cut, they only need folding and they are finished with 2 snaps.
Task I delegated to my daughter since she was off sick from school.
And then my husband was called to the rescue to hammer ...
read moreA while back I made a cute little Stash and Dash bag to use with my smaller “travel” Bernina sewing machine. One of my friends admired it, and so I decided to make one for her and another for another friend who has been very helpful to me. My lovely Bernina 790Pro made short work […]
read moreSometimes it seems as though things go in a series. I’ve made yet another bag, though this one isn’t intended to store tools for my smaller Bernina. I have a smallish light box for transferring designs; it measures about 14″ x 10.5″ and is quite thin. I saw that By Annie had a pattern for […]
read moreSome of you may remember that I bought this smaller Bernina a few months ago to make it easier to take a machine to sewing events. The machine is the Kaffe Fassett Bernina 475, and it’s so cute! One thing that would make transporting it really simple, I decided, was to have a set of […]
read moreI will be offering my first virtual class through my shop later this month. Since the class is virtual (gonna use Zoom), you can participate from anywhere. Here is what we will be making:
This is a Canvas Tote Bag. The class fee is $20 and includes a copy of the pattern plus enough canvas fabric to make one bag.
Here is what the pattern looks like, Canvas Tote.
I've got a few kits cut already but I have more canvas to be able to cut quite a few more kits, if necessary.
When you sign up for the ...
read moreI'm having a great time with this new pattern! It's called Tourist Tote. For these next ones I shopped from my stash.
Here they are both completed and ready to use!
And check out how green the grass in my backyard is already! We've had a lot of rain here recently.
My plan for these bags was one for me and one for my son. He turns 21 on Saturday! How did that happen?! He needed a new bag to carry his dinner and snacks with him to his new job. Right now he is working nights ...

read moreA customer told me about her favorite tote bag pattern recently. It's called the Tourist Tote. It looked like a good pattern and I had a good recommendation for the pattern, so I ordered several copies of it.
Then I had to make one!
I used four prints from the new Serene Nature fabric collection that arrived recently. This is a very nice bag and a nice pattern. It's not a very complicated bag pattern but you could easily add some pockets (inside or outside between the handles). You could also add a magnetic snap or zipper to ...
read moreLast month I posted a couple of little bags I’d made to make taking my Bernina Kaffe475 to various sewing events. After finishing those, I decided it would be a good idea to add to the set by making a project bag for fabrics, partial pieces, and patterns. So now my set is — I […]
read moreI've had the London City Bag pattern in my shop for a while, but just got around to making up one. I shouldn't have waited so long!
It's a Pink Sand Beach Designs pattern which means it's a good bag pattern. I opted to do the B version of the bag so the outside pocket is a single fabric instead of strips like is shown on the pattern.
On one side inside it has three pockets.
On the other side inside it has a zipper pocket.
The fabrics I used are from a new collection called ...
read moreAbout three weeks ago, I posted that I’d been fortunate enough to purchase an adorable Bernina 475 Kaffe edition sewing machine so that I can take it to various sewing sessions more easily than my amazing — but heavy — Bernina 790Plus. I decided that it only made sense to have a sort of “go […]
read moreIt seems sewing has taken a back seat since the beginning of the month sadly... I had great intentions but time has been too short. First there was a birthday girl to honour and then there has been quite a lot of travelling, business travel first followed by holidays. Even though I had some hand sewing projects with me while on the move, I hardly touched them.
However the birthday girl was away on a school trip just before we went away as a family and was getting back very late. We were originally told pick up time would be ...
