Fiddlebob Quilt 23, 24 from Virtual Quilter

Love the name of this project file … and love the block designs, and the quilt designs I find when playing with the placement of the blocks.

Love the first design today, and after changing just 8 blocks the second invites me to make it better!

Ferns and Flora 29, 30 from Virtual Quilter

I have been at a quilt retreat for a few days, with machines humming, and voices raised to be heard over the machines, and othe voices, not to mention the laughter! The first design today looks so peaceful in contrast!

Things will be busy for the next few weeks, but on the whole much quieter than the last few days, but probably not so much laughter.

I love both designs, but the second one is my favourite.

Hearts Growing 15, 16 from Virtual Quilter

More fantasy florals!

I cannot pick a favourite today … love them both.

Anna Pavlova 3, 4 from Virtual Quilter

I love playing with floral appliques even if , like this collection of blocks, they are just fantasy florals.

My favourite of these two is the second one, but I can see some changes I can make with the quilting design in the corners.

Aussie Banksia Carol 9, 10 from Virtual Quilter

A third Banksia variation,  and more quilting in this project file.

The next step  I am thinking about for these is to mix them up in on project file, though perhaps a look to see if there are more leaf shapes to play with.

Aussie Banksia Betty 5, 6 from Virtual Quilter

A different species of Banksia with very different leaf shape in today’s designs …

… and some quilting motifs added to the second design.

Aussie Banksia Anna 3, 4 from Virtual Quilter

In my garden I try to choose plants which will fill a certain space … as a quilter I can prune any floral block anyway I want it.

Aussie native plants don’t like being told what to do, but quit block designs usually do as they are told

Bush Flora Blocks 9, 10 from Virtual Quilter

The most dominant colours of Australian wildflowers are red, orange and yellow. Plant breeders have not produced much variety by adding pretty pastels to the colour range, but I thought I would try breeding some fabric variations.

The shapes of Aussie flora in pastel colours are very pretty, but would not look so good covered in dust!

Wattle, Gum and Banksia 5, 6 from Virtual Quilter

Australia has a very interesting collection of native flowers, and most of them have some very distinctive varieties. This project file has three species, and very basic depictions of some of the varieties. The first design has one of the acacias in the centre, and Banksias in the border.

The second has Gum Blossoms in the centre, surrounded by a very different Acacia.

EQ Album Revisited 27, 28 from Virtual Quilter

WOW!

I love dark backgrounds.

I like the light background too, but the dark really looks stunning.

EQ Dozen Again 21, 22 from Virtual Quilter

When the original project file grew too much I started another project using the same blocks and the same fabrics. it has grown to almost equal the original file.

I wonder if every owner of the Electric Quilt 8 program, or earlier versions, started with the same blocks if we would have many identical designs, let alone the same fabrics.

Another interesting layout, and I love the results.

Birds in the Orchard 25, 26 from Virtual Quilter

Both these designs are medallion quilts, a large block surrounded by one or two rows of applique blocks, then a frame of plain strip borders.

I love the block designs, love the layouts, love just about every quilt design I have found when playing with the blocks.

Quilting Queen Blocks 7, 8 from Virtual Quilter

Interesting design.

I am thinking that I want some simpler block designs, but will try to simplify some of the current designs rather than introduce totally different blocks. Nothing like setting myself a challenge!

Patch Play 43, 44 from Virtual Quilter

Love the green … waiting patiently for rain so the farms and bush start showing some green again. Not to mention my garden.

I like both designs today … no favourite.

Myra’s Medallion 1, 2 from Virtual Quilter

A medallion design has a centre design surrounded by several borders. The blocks in this series are based on a bulb I call Thumbelina.

Blue is far from my favourite colour, but it work well in these block designs.

Tangled String of Beads 45, 46 from Virtual Quilter

I am wondering how many beaded blocks I have in my collection.

I suspect it may be easier to count the beads than the blocks as some of them are very similar, or neater drawings of the same block.

I like both of these designs.

Bunch of Beads from Virtual Quilter

Nice design, and a very interesting border. I wonder if I play with real beads if I could make something like that.

Second design is an interesting collection of block designs.

Beaded Fans 25, 26 from Virtual Quilter

More beads, with some of them added over the seam lines between the blocks.

I like both of these, and both of yesterday’s designs.

What is not to like about beads, fabric, plastic, glass, stones … just organise them into a nice line!
