Very formal and very pretty!
The second one is also very pretty, and it is my favourite for today.

Very pretty!
The second design is also very interesting … and I love the colours and I know my Mum would have liked them too.

I don’t know too many quilters who don’t fiddle with fabric every chance they get, and I think most of us get a little fidgety if we go too long without touching our fabric stash!
All the designs in this project file would be fairly fiddly to make up, but I guess it would give us an excuse to fiddle with the fabric.

Dainty!
Still dainty, but with heavier borders. This is the one I would make for our bed … if we didn’t already have three queen size quilts.

This project file uses block designs from the Electric Quilt Library which I have added to by mixing up the pieces and leaving some out elsewhere to make border blocks.
I like using block designs as quilting motifs and I show them in contrast thread, but I would add more quilting, but not too much, to fill the background space in a thread to match the background fabric.

The low contrast in these designs would make a very restful look in a bedroom.
How ever, there are only 2 designs left in the project file and I think I will play with the colours a bit!

Soft and pretty, like Aunty Flo’s tatted lace.
The second is also pretty and dainty, and I think it might be my favourite of the two designs.

This project file is a real jumble of some of my block designs … sort of a playground for a virtual quilter, or perhaps a crazy quilter.
These designs need some quilting to fill in the spaces between the applique and quilting motifs. I would suggest a simple but small grid, or small bubbles, or stippling Perhaps some trapunto for the applique and the motifs just to add another dimension.

Interesting design, especially the quilting … simple, but very effective.
In the second design the quilting motif in the first is an applique design!

I had a glimpse of some antique quilts a week ago, and these designs would have blended in well.
I love the second one.

Wow! So pretty! A great combination of applique and quilting.
I like that the blocks have room for quilting to shine without getting too mixed up with the colours.

Love the first design for today.
I wasn’t happy with the way my day started … no internet, so today’s post is rather late, but I had plenty of time to play with quilt designs while I tried to work out what was wrong, and wonder if it was something I did, or the internet in general. Still don’t really know, but I am attached to the web again.
Designs like these would make it really worthwhile to make the bed every morning!

Red and white together looks stunning, but not something I would like in my bedroom. My favourite design today is the first one.
However, a lot of sporting fans barrack for teams who wear red and white, so there may be a lot of people who would love a red and white quilt on their bed.

A puzzle for today …. find the lines which should be changed. I love the overall design, but have noticed a few of the lines based on pieced blocks which are not quite the way I intended them to be.
This is an old project file, and was done before I had access to wide fabrics, so added a small border to cover up some of the joins I would have to include to get a king size quilt.

So, so pretty!
I think I write that every time I open this project file to share a couple of designs!
So, so beautiful!
I love the second design!

The design above was a mistake. The design below was what I intended to do.
I much prefer the first one! Sometimes mistakes are beneficial.
Which one do you prefer?

Once I had found some red and white pieced designs for yesterday’s post, I thought I should start an applique project. The first design above is not the first design I did, but I did a lot of changes to every design and the order got mixed up quicker then the fabric choices.
I found that the hardest part was finding assorted red and white fabrics as some are too pink, some have too much yellow and look orange, but I eventually found a small collection of red and white fabrics which had similar reds, but with enough variety ...

I love iron lacework on old buildings, and love the idea of quilts made with similar designs.
Not a lot of applique in the second design, even the border is quilted only.
