9P Pretties from EQ5 8, 9, 10 from Virtual Quilter

Electric Quilt was up to version 5 when I first became a user, and have upgraded as soon as possible with each new version, and loved the way the program has progressed.

Learning to use each upgrade has been a challenge with each step, and I still have lots to learn, but I am still amazed at some of the designs I did way back then.

It is one of those days when I am not going to be able to pick a favourite.

Love the colours in the first, the shape created by the blocks around the centre block ...

Watchin’ Grass Grow 5, 6 from Virtual Quilter

I have been spending many hours in my real garden, and there are some weeds growing like crazy, but not many anymore!

Meanwhile the virtual weeds look as though they have been growing like crazy, getting a little bit overgrown.

Looks like the weeds have thinned out a bit, and I like the thinned out view better!

The blocks in this project file were just a low inspiration play time in Electric Quilt, but the ‘weeds’ might also be desirable grassy clumps amongst floral blocks in a future new project. They could also be fillers in floral arrangements. Pity life ...

Felicity Anderson Q’n’A 7, 8 from Virtual Quilter

I like it a lot.

I love the second design.

The border blocks in the first were designed by removing one of the large flowers and the centre circle from the border blocks in the second. I prefer the one with the centre circle and two big flowers, but others might like the big centre flower.

Round Robin Medallions 5, 6 from Virtual Quilter

Oh, so pretty!

Oh, so Pretty!

I haven’t quite repeated myself … note the capital P for the second one!

Patch Play Quilted 16, 17, 18 from Virtual Quilter

I like it!

I don’t like the cross hatching over the centre block, but I have left it there as an indication of the fill I would use in the background of all the blocks, but interrupted by the outlined applique and the quilted motifs.

I like the second one pretty much as it is, but would fill in the background spaces with cross hatching.

Love the last!

Applique Elegance 7, 8, 9 from Virtual Quilter

Lucky last is my favourite of these three, and these are the last in this project file. I have not added a great number of new project files for quite some time, but with new blocks being added to my collection, and old ones being sorted, there will be new project files in the future.

Festival Garden 17, 18, 19, 20 from Virtual Quilter

I don’t seem to be able to stop thinking about gardens, even when the weather turns cold and damp, but at least I can stay warm with virtual gardening.

I love that interlocking border, which I think was designed several years ago at a quilt exhibition when I was demonstrating some of the things I could do with Electic Quilt, and spending lots of time catching up with fellow quilters.

Another interesting effect around the centre block.

Third time playing with those same blocks, with no central feature. Probably better for a tablecloth rather than a bed quilt, though ...

Beaded Border Strings 16, 17, 18 from Virtual Quilter

The design above was one of several I have in this project file which use the simplest border string, and a collection of the corner designs which I found, and I was curious enough this morning to see how many assorted String of Beads borders I had, and how many corners.

Well, there are twenty assorted strings for side borders, and over one hundred and twenty ways to get them around corners, and many of them will work for different side strings … in the second design all the corners will work for a single string in the centre of a ...

A Figgy Row by Row 1, 2, 3, 4 from Virtual Quilter

Found this project file tucked away in a folder of family folders … I don’t want to think about how I managed to save it there.

However, I think I have found the culprit … the Fig Thief started by stealing a fig in the first design, and moved on to a jar of jam, so I suspect he put the EQ project in the barrow with the loot!

Looks like he stole the fabric for the borders between the rows, and I was going to change the fabric but liked the lack of borders.

There are a few figs left ...

Quilted Border Beauties 13, 14 from Virtual Quilter

I love it!

Love this one too.

I like the effect of the broken border of small crosses. I have used that border before but spaced as they are around the corner all the way round, and liked them that way, but also like them alternated with the inner border. I have also used them spaced as they are here before. Another thing I noticed with a quick glance is that the grape vine almost appears as a separate border to the grapes. That would probably change if the grapes were not so ripe!

Patch Play 18, 19, 20 from Virtual Quilter

This project file is one of many which have had a Christmas makeover, but it wasn’t a major facelift.

I might find the time to change some of the green shapes to holly leaves at some point in the future.

Right now it is a nice way to wean myself off Christmas designs until next December.

Red and Green Quilted 7, 8 from Virtual Quilter

The last of the Christmas leftovers for this year. This is a project file I found hidden in the back of the computer.

I really want to replace some of the green bits with green holly leaf shaped bits … but I will save them for next Christmas, which will probably be here in a couple of months!
