Aunt Flo’s Christmas 9, 10 from Virtual Quilter

I love it!

Aunty Flo was not a quilter, but she did do wonderful tatting. At one point of my life I tried doing some tatting, but I was a disaster! All I could do was tangle threads.

Oh, so pretty.

A lot of my virtual quilt designs would be lovely as tablecloths, but not these two. I have only made one Christmas tablecloth, and the first time it went on the table it got beetroot spilt on it!

Thank goodness it wasn’t a lighter shade of Christmas!

Kelly’s Custom Quilts 25, 26 from Virtual Quilter

A few applique blocks, applique border, and lots of space for quilting to shine. I love the low contrast changes of background colour for some of the applique blocks.

More applique in both blocks and borders, but still room for some quilting!

Very fussing applique blocks … except in the border.

The borders in both these designs are oversized, but I like it much better around the second design.

Interesting effect of using low contrast background behind applique designs, made more interesting in a custom design arrangement of blocks.

Love the first design, inparticular, I love the sashing … where it is visible.

Where it doesn’t show up I have coloured the sashing strips with the background fabric.

Quilting at Eleven 26, 27, 28 from Virtual Quilter

Interesting … especially the space which has been filled with quilting motifs based on pieced blocks used in the project file, but not in this design, and applique block which is used in this design.

Love the second design.

Also love the third design, especially the combination of the pieced and applique blocks, and the quilting motifs.

I would be sleeping under the first design, though maybe lighten up the colours a little.

Like the way the outer border twists around the corners.

Felicity Anderson Q’n’A 9, 10 from Virtual Quilter

Come fiddly applique blocks, some equally fiddly quilting motifs based on applique blocks … with a simple filler. That’s the way I like my real quilts.

My favourite is the second one of these two.

If I didn’t have a summer weight Christmas themed quilt on our bed I would make this one to go there!
