What Makes Prom from Becca's Crazy Projects

What does one do when asked to help out with the prom project? One goes with it. I grabbed some fabrics from my collection and a pattern and got busy with a simple wearable muslin. This is the only simple part of this project. 
Embroider some butterflies on organza (which I had in a box for some reason). This design is Whimsical Butterfly from Urban Threads. 
And do some shopping for suitable fabrics. This wonderful rose embossed fabric for the vest.

100 Blocks 100 Days Finish from Becca's Crazy Projects

I grabbed my scrappy binding and got stitching. 
I love all the little details in this quilt. Look at that little skeleton!
I used almost 30 feet of binding and I didn't even make a dent in that bin of leftover binding. 
This was my all-time favorite sampler quilt. Just a great project.

Crazy Week from Becca's Crazy Projects

This week has been a little crazy. Not bad. Just not as productive as I wanted it to be.

100 Blocks 100 Days from Becca's Crazy Projects

I finished my blocks in October 2021. 
I managed to get the blocks arranged and sewn up in March 2022. These things don't happen quickly. I added a 3" border to frame those 100 blocks. 
I even pieced the backing, because that's how scrappy quilts can be. 
For binding, I dug into my bin of leftover binding. Yes, this is a thing some quilters have. Mine never gets enough love. There are so many leftover pieces. I need to come up with another good scrappy idea to use some more of it up.

Frolic Mystery Quilt from Becca's Crazy Projects

Part 4: Quilting

It has been ages since I finished my version of Bonnie Hunter's mystery quilt Frolic. This was the Quiltville Winter Mystery for the 2019/2020 season. I played with colors so I could use some fabrics I had on hand. I went with constant fabrics throughout and most of them read as solids. There are solids, but not as many as it seems upon first glance. 
I added my embroidered label directly onto the backing fabric prior to quilting. I really like this as it makes sure that label stays with the quilt.

Scrappy Quarter Cabins from Becca's Crazy Projects

I pieced up more scrappy quarter cabin blocks until I had enough to make a small quilt. 
Then I cut some busy fabric for the alternate blocks and setting triangles. 
To tone down some of that business, I picked this bright yellow border fabric. I think it frames the work quite nicely. Then I quilted it with a fun geometric meander. Now all it needs is some binding.

Scrappy Quarter Cabins from Becca's Crazy Projects

I have a big bag of scraps left over from making charity quilts. I wanted some simple sewing so I decided to make some Scrappy Quarter Cabins. I learned this technique from Christina Cameli on her blog A Few Scraps. If you need more help than you like, there is also an online course. Nine blocks is a good start!

Florid Bloom Quilting from Becca's Crazy Projects

This quilt has waited longer to get quilted than most. You can learn more about this quilt in this post from September 2020, or this one also from September 2020. Those posts will tell you where to buy the Florid Bloom template set and Double Wedding Ring Quilts book from Victoria Findlay Wolfe.
I chose this fun daisy pantograph and let the machine do its magic. All this quilt needs now is some binding so it can be the quilt it has always wanted to be.

Sometimes when I make a block I wonder if I have missed an opportunity. I'm still not sure how all of these are going to become one quilt but I'm looking forward to it.

I love using up little pieces of leftover fabric to make these blocks. I'm still pulling from scrap bins and I think this will be a great quilt. I suppose I should start looking at layout options. Some of these blocks would be great in a one or two-block quilt. It's great to add them to my block library.
