July's Block from Quilt Doodle Doodles

Welcome July! I feel like summer is getting away from me. July always flies by quickly for me. It's a busy month, we have a lot on the calendar to make the month fly by... 4th of July, our anniversary, a trip to the cabin and then the day to day shenanigans to fill in between. Although the 4th will be a little quieter then usual, we still plan on celebrating with a picnic and fireworks in our own backyard.

This month's block is based on the classic Ohio Star block. You will need three different fabrics. My ...

Patriotic Fabrics For Quilting and Sewing from Craft Gossip

These patritoic fabric designs over at TheFatQuartershop are fun and so inviting. I love this modern bright version, perfect for a bright and cheery project. It has a few more designs in this collection making it perfect for a 9 block quilt or quilted baby rug or picnic rug.

Check out all their fabric designs here.   They have some traditional flag designs as well as the red truck too.

4th of July and Flag Boy from Log Cabin Quilter

In my last post, I shared a picture of two sailboat blocks I had made.  Today I am sharing a photo of the completed quilt top.  I did not have enough of the main red fabric in the border, so I added in a second piece.  I think it looks fine that way.  I used fabrics from three different lines of fabric done by Minnick and Simpson plus a couple other pieces from my stash of reds and blues.

I completed a wall hanging from a pattern called "Flag Boy".  The pattern is in an older book by Sarah Sporrer ...

4th of July Sailboats from Log Cabin Quilter

I am finding myself moving from one quilt project to another.  Just whatever fancies my interest on any given day.  I started a new quilt project.  One with sailboats in red, white, and blue.  I don't have as many summer quilts to display as other seasons and this will be a welcome addition.  Four completed blocks thus far and many parts for others.

Below is a picture of the pattern cover so you can get an idea of what the final product should look like.  You need the Boat Day pattern plus the add on called "4th of July ...

4th of July from Polka Dots and Butterflies

Another great scrap buster is this 4th of July pattern by Pat Sloan.  The pattern is called Grand Ole Flag. I whipped this up just in time for the 4th.  I loved using a different background color then I normally would have.  This turquoise is unusual and really makes the flags stand out.  The backing is centennial fabric I had in my stash.
