Green Bags from Becca's Crazy Projects

I'm not sure how this fabric came to be in my collection. It could have been Aunt Betty. In any case, I had enough to back a quilt and enough to make two totes using the Green Bag Lady pattern.
I didn't use my serger on these. I did make them with French seams so they are very tidy.
It was a good afternoon project. These fold up very nicely to tuck into your bag when going to the store. I've always got one in my bag.

Then Green Bag Lady regularly gives away totes through random ...

Finally, a 2020 Wrap Up. from {The Sweetest Dreams}

Last year was a kind of blur. It started out normal but quickly changed into the year from hell. I hated being away from my family and my sewing/quilting peeps. Both of my guilds, Eastern Long Island Quilt Guild and Long Island Modern Quilt Guild, stopped in person meetings as of March. In June, our Tuesday night North Fork Quilters group decided to meet out in the parking lot of the rec center we normally met in. We were all so happy to actually see each other. Eventually both guilds transitioned to Zoom meetings but it wasn't the ...

Respect the Power Tool from Becca's Crazy Projects

I opened up my Juki last weekend. It was past time to do so. Here is a view of the fluff-bunnies hiding under the needle plate.
Some time with the brush and I was ready to get stitching again. I also changed out the needle.
I bought this sticker from Hunter Design Studio this past winter,. Treat your tools with the respect they deserve.

2020 Testimony from Quilt in Piece

“The Best made plans of mice and men…” No matter how carefully 2020 was planned, something may still go wrong with it, and it did. 2020 happened. At the beginning of 2020 there was so many awesome plans, of what we were going to do in the community, in the Church and with outreach. Personally, things were looking up, work was going great for change, we were expecting a raise and a bonus. My family was doing well, everyone had a job, everyone was healthy. But things did not go according to plan. For all of us, plans changed, and ...

Fiesta Crochet from Becca's Crazy Projects

I've been wanting to try more mosaic crochet. I've been eyeing the Fiesta mosaic crochet design on Ravelry.
If you want to try your hand at this kind of crochet I recommend you check out Tinna's YouTube channel. Seriously, if you can single and double crochet you can do this with your tutorial.
This was my first try at the design. I know what I would do differently next time but this was an excellent learning experience.
The yarn is Knit Picks Wool of the Andes (100% wool) and the pink is Cascade 220 (100% wool). I ...

2020 - Mein quiltiges Jahr from Quilt Collection M.

Safari Tango from Seaside Stitches

My last finished quilt of 2020 is called Safari Tango. It might be the first true double-sided quilt I've ever made. The front was started in an online (Zoom) workshop with Diane Harris, The Stash Bandit, hosted by Ninigret Quilters. She calls her pattern Twofer Tango because you could get two quilts from your effort. The half square triangle units are bonus blocks from the creation of the main X-blocks. I chose to add mine around the border instead of harboring yet another UFO!

The back of the quilt was one of those long-simmering UFOs. Started in a class ...

Best of 2020 ...is that even possible? from Sew Sunshine

I was not even sure I wanted to look at my blog posts from this year. I was certain that most of the year was me spent not quilting. I was wrong and grateful for this look back.

First up, this is the Modern Quilt Guild #modernclassic makeover. Taking a previously made QOM and make in their new colors. More info on this pattern Courthouse steps remake that I called Strength and Beauty. I deviated ever so slightly from the pattern so did not submit to Quiltcon exhibit but I love this quilt.

Next up is another favorite...the improv ...

Notorious from Becca's Crazy Projects

I finally took the plunge and started quilting this little piece. This was inspired by a cross stitch design created by Prudence Kitch. If you are a cross-stitcher you should check out their snarky little darlings. Get your own copy of Prudence Kitch - Notorious on Etsy. If you want to see some of my progress shots check out this post
The background is quilted with this flower motif.
The dress is quilted with a variegated thread to make these swirls.
I added some detail to the lily.
The swirls make their way up the bodice.
Nothing fancy for the gavel ...

The Diamond Ripples Quilt from Jan's Quilts

This is my final finish for 2020, quilt #22.  It's a special quilt for a special family.  This is the third quilt I've made for them.

The quilt measures 57" x 72", and will be on its way to Belgium next week.

We're having a very windy day, here in Murrieta.  It made taking quilt photos a challenge, but I got it done!

May your bobbins always be full,

Pool Party Quilt from Jan's Quilts

Well, my LAQ surprised me, and the rest of her customers.  She pushed herself to start 2021 with an empty "to-do" list.  That meant she needed to quilt a lot of quilts, and some were like mine, not due until mid-January.  So I got this Pool Party quilt back before Christmas, and I got the binding on this week.  I really love how it turned out.

The Pool Party Quilt was a result of my Pre-Cut Challenge.  I used a layer cake and various black and white low-volume fabrics, all from stash.  It measures 65" x 81", and will stay ...

Midnight Slippers from Becca's Crazy Projects

I purchased the Midnight Slipper pattern from Stitch Upon A Time because I prefer soft-soled slippers. For this pair, I fussy-cut some scraps of fleece to make my first pair. Here are all my pieces cut out. Since I made this with fleece for the outer and lining I did not use fleece between the two layers. I substituted the bottom with non-slip fabric. I also used a piece of batting between the lining and the non-slip fabric for a little extra padding.
I was a little concerned about the bulk for the elastic when using two layers of fleece ...

Sunshine Quilting from Becca's Crazy Projects

Remember this little quilt top
I loaded it up and got quilting.
As a cuddle quilt I didn't want to do any fancy quilting. I used a small meander that should make this little quilt super cuddly after washing.
Machine-finished binding for a quick finish! Don't forget the label.

Best of 2020 from Goer

It's become a tradition for me to share my top five blog posts of the year. This year the trend is all about community: monthly linkups I've hosted, a challenge I participated in, and a blog hop about holiday traditions. Seems fitting that 2020 would be focused on connecting with others. Incidentally, if you haven't already linked up a project to this month's Show Me Something... hop on over and Show Me Something That's a Gift! (You've probably delivered those gifts by now, right?)

Cranky Socks from Becca's Crazy Projects

 Happy, merry, joyous holiday!

I wanted to try a mock ribbed sock. I think it turned out nicely for my first try. Granted, I've made dozens of socks so this was really just learning about the process of skipping needles. I'm really enjoying this cone yarn from CSM Supplies. Totally check them out the next time you want to buy 500 grams of superwash yarn.
I'm still working on socks to give away, too. I should give my ribber another chance. Maybe I'll be better at it than the last time.

Don't forget to follow ...

More Masks from Becca's Crazy Projects

Since this has become our favorite style of mask I decided it was time to make some more. I even experimented by making a larger version (the beer bottles one is supersized).
This pup peeking from the edge is so much fun! This mask is cut completely with rotary cutting tools (rotary cutter, rulers, mat) and is all straight-line sewing. Super simple construction, too.

Crochet Basket from Becca's Crazy Projects

What does one do with entirely too much cotton yarn? Well, you make a basket.
I discovered this YouTube video that sparked my interest in this project. I grabbed my hook and got to work.
This was a quick project. Likely about five days. Granted, a couple of those days were Saturday and Sunday which always means more time to crochet.
After a while I was using it to hold my working yarns. The base is about 13" in diameter. Plenty of room!
This is a great crochet project basket. Put your yarn inside and get going!

Cranky Socks from Becca's Crazy Projects

I've been cranking out socks for my darling husband. Slowly I'm building up a collection of socks for him.
I'm trying to use as many different yarns as possible so he can easily pair them.
Even though I generally think matching socks are overrated. Are you still crafting for the winter holidays? I certainly am.

Don't forget to follow me on Instagram (@beccascrazyprojects) and my Etsy shop Becca's Crazy Projects to get updates on what I'm doing and when listings go live.
