COMPLETE: Scrappy Potato Chip Quilt from Wedding Dress Blue

I have a bin of assorted 2-1/2″ x 4-1/2″ rectangles. They are handy for a leader-ender quilt. Yes, it is a little crazy, but someone will like it.

Here is THE BLOCK. This one finishes at 60″x72″.

Always fun to have a sneak peek at the backing.

It goes in the donation pile to brighten someone’s day.

It's all about TEETH and letting go of your quilt patterns from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

As predicted, I didn't even turn the sewing machines on yesterday. I hope today will be a more productive day! I also quilted a quilt, but you must wait to see it! Let's see - what did I do then?

I have a major computer project on the go. I started it yesterday, and it's turning out amazing! Let's hope it continues in the direction I envisioned. If all goes as planned, you'll see the results next week.

I had to make an appointment to get our travel shots, and that's next week, as I ...

Wholecloth from Stitching Matters

This was from a quilter whose friend wanted a solid white quilt, which she plans to gift along with a blue and white Peaceful Star quilt to go in the centre of the bed as a finishing touch.

I don’t design the inside of these solid-colour quilts (this is a different skill level), so I offered to do an edge-to-edge design.

A little quilting................... from Exuberant Color

I'm back to quilting my Crooked Cobblestone wall hanging.  I'm ditch quilting around every center of every block.  At the lower edge I'm ready to quilt 9 light color centers, quilting one and then dragging the thread over to the next, etc.  Then I will trim all of the connecting threads when I'm done with that area.  I'm using the backstitch feature on the machine and Invisifil thread so the tie off is almost invisible.

There are 3 tomatoes on this one plant and I got them all into one photo.  The sun shining on ...

WIP Wednesday - A Quilty Little Christmas from Just Sew Sue

Another of my larger Guild UFO challenge pieces that I started working on whilst waiting for a jacket to embroider for this month's UFO. There are four smaller mini quilts which I plan to combine with blocks from other projects to make another ladder quilt.

I started with the 4" gingerbread blocks as there was very little preparation. Just two background fabrics, pink fabric for the door on one house and the felt from the embellishment kit.

I then completed the blocks for a Quity Little Christmas apart from two fill in blocks. I will need to add quite ...

On To The Handwork from Quilts....etc.

For the next couple of days or three I will be busy with hand work.  I have the orange Georgetown block made into the circle and it is ready for the applique work now.  After this photo was taken I actually got started on it and maybe have a third of it done.  I was […]

More Sampler Blocks from Plum Quilts

I have to say that it is very relaxing to just putter along, making single blocks for a sampler quilt from someone else's patterns and measurements!

These were the next three blocks that I made.

And the next four - but can you spot the mistake?  I forgot to note that I'd made the first block of this set, so, as sometimes happens with 'pick up and put down' projects (for me at least) was that I didn't remember, and cut the same block out again!

Now I've got a spare block, but also, from photographing them ...

Medical News from Jo from Jo's Country Junction

I’ve had some medical stuff going on…some medical…some insurance…some old…some new. I thought I would take a blog post’s worth of your time and give you the update all at once. 1st up…my thyroid cancer. You might remember I was diagnosed in 2015. I’ve almost made it 10 years with this cancer. I never thought …

A Little Of This, A Little Of That from Quilting My Way

Today, Patrick headed to play golf, and I went downstairs to work on the quilt on the floor. Mom came over about the time I was squaring up Georgie's blocks.

Mom and I went through the stack of fabric for her to take some smaller pieces to cut for the variation 9-patch quilt. She likes that one and loves to do 9-patches. She also got some white and off-white fabric as well. I'm sure she will have a quilt in no time, just knowing her.

I was thinking before she came that I would put a challenge to ...

Logs in the Garden 6, 7, 8, 9,10 from Virtual Quilter

Love the colours in these designs.

Love all five of these designs.

The middle one is my favourite .

Love the simplicity of the next one.

I think this has to be my all round  favourite collection of all my posts, but that could change any time in the future.

More Log Cabin designs mid week, next week.

I Just Might Make it After All from Jo's Country Junction

I was walking home after working at the library last week. I had been a little bummed earlier in the week. The anniversary of my husband’s death had been on my mind. As I was walking, I noticed the weather was so nice. I was just in a happy mood. I was out of my …

Crazy Quilt Birds from Kitty and Me Designs

Things here are finally winding down.  I still have some loose ends to tie up but I've had a little more stitching time.  I've been stitching on 6 inch crazy quilt blocks and I'm probably up to around 70 by now.  There's no set number of blocks.  When I get tired of doing them, I'll sew it into a quilt.

For now, I've done one of my favorite themes, a peacock:

The peacock is embroidered with 3 strands of DMC rayon thread.  The tail is fancy fuzzy yarn.  The do-dad at the top of ...

New Fabrics and New Project from Podunk Pretties

Yesterday was cleaning day in the sewing room.  It had been a few weeks since it was last dusted, cleared of clutter and mopped. Sure, I had been giving it a quick vacuuming when vacuuming the rest of the house, but it was way overdue for a little deeper cleaning.  After cleaning and clearing the clutter off my sewing table it was time to play!  Just a quick small project that can be finished in a day or two.

I came up with a plan for a project and a few little cute scraps were pulled and pressed.  By this ...

Haines Junction, Yukon Territory from ... Cat Patches

Good morning, my friends. Alaska beckons. In just a few days we'll be there. For now, we find ourselves near Haines Junction, still in Yukon Territory. It doesn't seem possible that the mountains could be any more stunning, but yesterday's drive proved it to be so.

Here's the blow-by-blow of yesterday's drive. We crossed this bridge over the Takhini River.

Here's what our Milepost told us about the river.

And since we're told mosquitos are the state bird of Alaska, it all makes sense. So far, we've not been bothered by mosquitos ...
